MUST READ FROM PIM: “WHAT DOES THE AL FRANKEN CAMPAIGN HAVE AGAINST KSTP’S TOM HAUSER?”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 7, 2008

Sarah Janecek has just published a must read post at Politics In Minnesota about Team Franken’s involvement in Tom Hauser being removed as the host of Sunday’s U.S. Senate debate in Rochester.  According to her post, Team Franken isn’t returning phone calls.

Outside of MDE, that Janecek post is one of the stupidest, baseless things I’ve read. It is, in a very literal form, a complete fabrication of a story to link Franken and the League of Women voters in this.

    Aaron: You’re a liar.

Michael, you can’t give a reason why my post was racist. Therefore, you’re a liar.

This is apalling on a number of levels:
    1. Tom Hauser is one of the most respected journalists in this state, political or otherwise. That Franken would not trust his ability to lead a debate shows that Angry Al and his team are incredibly naive about Minnesota to not know that Tom Hauser is universally respected.
    2. That there is apparently an assumption in Team Angry Al that anything associated with anyone Republican is not worth their time. So much for working together.
    3. That Angry Al’s embedded blogger feels the need to refute it by trashing, again, one of the most respected political voices in Minnesota in Sarah Janecek. Though she is a Republican, both sides of the aisle give her their much earned respect. She has never once carried herself in anything but the highest manner of class.

Leave it to Angry Al Franken to besmirch some of the most well-thought of figures in Minnesota politics. How sad.

I think Al Franken was afraid to appear on television without a diaper

Maybe because when he’s pissed, his right-winged toolness becomes obvious. He’s been that way since his College Republican days at St Thomas.

Why is this a big deal? Sarah Palin is trying to be Vice President of United States and won’t sit down with any well-respected journalists. Questions like ‘what do you read’ and ‘name one thing McCain has reformed’ scared her away from interviews.

  7. MinnyDem Says:

Yeah, well, according to Sarah Janacek, the Wellstone memorial six years ago featured audience cues on the big-screen tv above the stage telling them when to applaud–when in fact it was closed-captioning for the hearing impaired. Anyone who believes a word from that big-hatted fool is a chump and a tool.

And her accusation against Franken is based 100 percent on the fact that they did not return her phone call?

That is the sort of “evidence” that has Sarah and her frequently re-tooled shell of what once was a proud publication rapidly degenerating to Shawn Towle status.

  9. Chestnut Says:

    “Aaron: You’re a liar.”

Michael, you are a world-class champion of understatement.

  10. Chestnut Says:

“Why is this a big deal? Barak Obama is trying to be President of United States and won’t sit down with any well-respected journalists.”

    Good point.

  11. Sarah Janecek Says:

I hesitate to comment because that makes me responsible for reading all the comments, and I don’t know if I’m going to do that. BUT:

To MinnyDem, not even Wellstone’s closest advisors believe that old saw about my not knowing what closed captioning is or how it works. That mess was cleared up years ago. Only lazy blog commenters toss that one around, any more.

To Leroy, did you read my whole story? My conclusion was not based on getting any return phone calls from Franken people (although the Franken people are the first Democrats who have never returned my calls in 20-some years of MN politcs). I never expected to get any returned calls. Some of the Franken people don’t understand how we conduct our politics here.

Debate Minnesota was lobbied by someone or some someones between one and six pm last Friday to change moderators.

The messages I left with the Franken people were explicit. I politely asked them to call back to clean up the record. No one did.

Sarah has once again shown how little class the Dems have.

    thank you!

  13. MinnyDem Says:
    October 7th, 2008 at 10:54 PM

Janacek is a liar. Do a search on “Sarah Janacek Wellstone Memorial.” You’ll find more than enough evidence. What a fraud–and then she has the nerve to come here and pretend it never happened. Sure love to see the “Wellstone’s closest advisors” who will back you up here. Talk about classless. This asshat takes the cake.

  14. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    October 7th, 2008 at 11:36 PM

    Sarah-

So, you never expect to receive return phone calls, and yet when you didn’t get a response from Franken, you ran with a story saying Franken is to blame for the moderator change.

How is my original hypothesis in any way incorrect?

  15. DJZ Says:
    October 8th, 2008 at 6:55 AM

Sarah, you’re reading this, and I know you reading this.

The shame here is that you yourself were once kicked around by the conservative movement. You weren’t one of them and women who weren’t barking the lines of Jesus, pro-Life and evil liberals were not given any credibility. Besides, you remained friends with many Democrats.

You begin selling out right after that Memorial. You went on record lying. Things took a downturn and you had no place to go but further to the Right where you really don’t belong.

You may be right that the Franken Campaign do not understand how we ‘roll’ in Minnesota. However, considering that they only heard of you since the 2002 when you stepped on the memory of his good friend for some political cred, what the hell do you expect?

Now is not the time for you to go crying about access, you brought upon yourself. On the other hand, you got a whole new crop of friends like Chestnut, Wade Seeker, Walter Hanson, Payload, Master of None, etc etc.

Again, I agree with your overall point that Franken team do not understand Minnesota well, they have made this harder than it should be.

I’m Rick Kahn and I approve of DJZ’ posting.

Hey DJZ – it was the dolts who turned the Wellstone memorial into a political rally/GOP bashfest that dishonored the memory of the late senator, and the others who tragically died in that plane crash.

Sarah Janecek trying to defend herself to commenters of MDE. That funny stuff.

I have to say I’m not surprised whatsoever that Janecek doesn’t get her calls returned from the Franken campaign. They’re likely too busy working with the press instead of right-wing pundits.

  20. Chestnut Says:

“Sarah Janecek trying to defend herself to commenters of MDE. That funny stuff.”

Especially when she’s speaking to flaming liberal retards like you Aaron.

  21. DJZ Says:

    Cheesebutt,
Why is it that MDE has to pipe up after your posts every once in a while? Cause you’re one angry little demagogue.

Wellstone is dead. Clinton is not in office and Bush and the Republicans fucked everything up. Face it and embrace it.

Sarah, you’re a tool and lost your integrity the night you sold out to these knuckle-draggers. Think about that next time we see each other at the coffee shop or Halloween Party, and I walk past you.

Newton, I was there. You clearly wasn’t.

McCain is down by 11 today by the way. Still waiting for the convention bounce though.
