MUST READ FROM THE STAR TRIBUNE: “RAMSTAD, FRENZEL DECRY ATTACK ADS”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 8, 2008

“Calling mailings and TV ads from Democrats ‘gutter politics’ and ‘utter fabrications,’ retiring U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad on Tuesday called on DFL candidate Ashwin Madia to disavow party attacks on Erik Paulsen, Madia’s Republican rival in the race to succeed Ramstad.” Source: Star Tribune, October 7, 2008

“Ramstad said at a news conference that Madia ‘has violated all principles of decency in running the dirtiest campaign our district has ever seen.’ As part of the news conference, former Republican Rep. Bill Frenzel, who preceded Ramstad, decried in a prepared statement what he called ‘Chicago-style politics.’” Source: Star Tribune, October 7, 2008

On the same day you guys launch your nastiest TV ad yet. Great job, Brodkorb.

Bill Frenzel? Are you kidding me? He’s been out of congress for two decades, living in D.C., working for a liberal think tank. Now, all of a sudden, he decides to sweep into town and denounce the campaign for a seat that he hasn’t held since 1990, in a state that he hasn’t lived in for even longer. Kind of like an ex-husband out of touch with his ex-wife for two decades showing up to testify against the second husband in divorce court. Or something like that. In any event, a totally pathetic stunt that might help Paulson with the residents of Wayzata nursing homes who long for the days when 394 was two lanes. PATHETIC.

    Madia: Dishonest, socialist prick.

Verrry interesting! As the most recent edition of MinnPost says, “Did anyone ask Ramstad if he condemns Paulsen surrogates using code words to attack Madia’s ethnicity and bachelorhood?”

““Did anyone ask Ramstad if he condemns Paulsen surrogates using code words to attack Madia’s ethnicity and bachelorhood?””

    More lies from Madia?

    Madia. Winning. This. Election.

    Aaron,

So you no longer believe in “The Power of One”?

  8. Chestnut Says:
    October 8th, 2008 at 11:55 AM

Yeah, Aaron has just acknowledged that Wellston’s mantra: “”Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has” is complete bullshit.

  9. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    October 8th, 2008 at 12:08 PM

If this is in reference to the St. Thomas bit, I guess I would have to point out that the saying isn’t, ”Never doubt that a small group of partisan hacks who are willing to subvert their own religion in an effort to win an election can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has”

    Bill who?

  11. rainman Says:

Ramstad must be looking to move out of state, too as he hitches his partisan b.s. to Paulsen, Carey, and Michel. I have no problem with him telling how much he loves Erik and how much Erik has done for us, etc. but he needs to stick to the facts. The facts are that Madia is running no attack ads or brochures, yet Rammer continually states otherwise…..uninformed, out of touch, and dishonest…..Rammer did us a favor by retiring if this is how he really thinks. As for Frenzel, nobody even remembers what he looks like, let alone listens to him. By the way, the illegal Paulsen is still there on 494 and time is running out!

  12. rainman Says:
    October 8th, 2008 at 12:20 PM

apologies…I left out the word sign at the end of my last post…The illegal Paulsen sign on 494 is still there.

  13. deesent Says:
    October 8th, 2008 at 12:23 PM

    Dear Mr. Nut:

“More lies from Madia? might more appropriately be addressed to reporters from the StarTribune, NPR and now MinnPost as they asked Paulsen’s surrogates at the press conference if condemning message might be “coded racism.”

Ramstad & Madia Agree on Mailings

    Ramstad: Condemns DCCC mailings
    Madia: Condemns DCCC mailings
Paulsen: Approves NRCC mailings and negative ads
“I’m Erik Paulsen, and I Approved this message”

Congressman Ramstad, thanks for supporting Ashwin’s principled position condemning the DCCC mailings.

Why does Erik Paulsen disagree with his “mentor”?
