Ladybelle – I agree with you. Madia has no past for us to examine. He did serve, yes. But as you all are saying for John McCain, his service is to be admired but not a reason to vote for him. What goes for McCain goes for Madia, right?

Madia can stand up and tell people what they want to hear. What a luxury. It is the best possible position to be in. Paulsen and other politicians have to defend and explain difficult decisions they’ve had to make as public servants.

The timing of Madia’s “voting for Bush” quote was an example of how much of a pro media manipulator he is. He did that just before the DFL endorsing convention. He got endorsed. And then he corrected it just after. That is a fricking maestro, if you ask me.

PD: It was a rebuttal ad because it shows that the Attack ads against Erik were false. It also explains that Madia has a lot of trouble telling the truth, so his smears should not be believed. The clip about Madia saying he wants to raise taxes was also a rebuttal, because Madia had denied that he said he was going to raise taxes, even though he said it over and over again (without any $250,000 qualification) when he was seeking the DFL endorsement.

Also, Madia can no longer deny that he had nothing to do with the smears against Erik. As pointed out in the MPR piece that Aaron linked to for us, Madia actually started the Strip club smear with a press release from HIS campaign. Seems the DCCC is taking it’s cues from the Madia campaign’s when it comes smearing Erik.

Hey, I just come here for the circus, now. As long as the MNGOP thinks smear tactics work, the Dems will be just fine. Another election cycle where Mike and his brethren in the Party have actually helped the DFL.

PLEASE PLEASE keep up the attacks and smear, its the only way Franken has a shot. This was Coleman’s slam dunk seat and the Right pissed it away in desperation.

If Coleman would have stayed on message, done more folksy ads like the fisher boy (GREAT ad By the way) and the new Daughter Sarah ad (even better than fisher boy) he would be up by 20. Instead he turned off the public with the Cheesy Bowling ads and kept beating the dead horse lieing about Franken tax situation.

What was rehashing the dumb PAC money (which is a lie by the way) rebutting?

Nice try. Paulsen’s campaign (as Michael likes to put it) is floundering and his only recourse is go attack. The guy can’t even put out an issue ad before he attacked. It’s just hilarious he thought it was a good idea to release it the day his talking point was Madia is going negative and that hurts CD3.

It also added something I didn’t know about. The disgusting attacks on Erik’s character actually started with a Madia Press release. I guess we can add another lie to the list, that Madia had nothing to do with that smear on Paulsen. Looks like the DCCC just picked up on a Madia Press Release.

As you belittle Madia’s military service and ask if that qualifies him for congress, I would ask you if you are familiar with John Mccain’s resume?

Aaron: The MPR link you put in your comment is dead. I would not be surprised if you did that on purpose, because the MPR piece on the Madia Lies ad was not flattering to Madia. The reporter from MPR actually explained how he was the one that caught Madia Lying. Bad news for Madia, he has been caught lying to Reports, and just like the voters in the 3rd District reporters do not like to be lied to.

Average Joe: You’re right the DFLers on the board cannot or will not defend Madia’s lying. But don’t forget, they were one of his first victims in this race. Madia lied to them about who he voted for. I was at the 3rd District DFL endorsing convention, and Madia’s people were even repeating that lie about Madia voting for Gore in 2000. I remember reading the blogs when that lie was first revealed, and there were a lot of upset DFLers. I cannot blame them, just like the voters and reporters many DFLers don’t like being lied to either.

I hope the voters of CD3 take a hard look at the candidates. Erik has much more to offer.
