THE RECORD IS CLEAR: FRANKEN SUPPORTS A SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 11, 2008

During tonight’s debate, U.S. Senator Norm Coleman said Al Franken supported a single payer health care system. Franken denied that he supported a single payer health care system.

But when Franken was battling with Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer for the DFL endorsement, he said that “if a national single payer program came to the floor, I would vote for it.”

Click here for a press release from Coleman’s campaign on Franken’s documented support for a single payer health care system.

Say whatever you want about a single payer plan but what Norm said in response was even worse:

“What a horrible idea to put kids into a government run program [for health care].”

It seems to work okay for Public Schools, is that a horrible idea Norm?

He should support SPS. It’s the only sane health care solution and it’s why every other industrialized country has better health care than the United States.

If Al Franken denied supporting a single-payer healthcare system, then he should talk to his Webmaster.

AlFranken.com says: “A single-payer system would be the most effective in terms of reducing administrative costs, and I would be thrilled to support such a system.”

Single-Payer healthcare would be a fucking disaster. With so many nations having already failed at this experiment, there’s no excuse for any American to support a “single-payer” system.

No country with single payer has a better healthcare system than the U.S. Not one.

I’m sure it’s great to say that those countries pay for the healthcare services of its citizens, but efficacy, access (in terms of timeliness) and quality are all horse shit.

There’s no excuse for any American to support the idea of single-payer. Those who do are completely ignorant of the healthcare system.

    Chestnut,
Check out the Charter for Health Care Workers at the Vatican. See if you think that it is better than what a lot of people in the USA have or don’t have.

Most of Europe has some kind of Universal Health Care coverage. Dual citizens are sometimes eligible for coverage.

Charter for Health Care Workers at the Vatican.

By the same Vatican that covered up priests molesting children and other vulnerable people.

Only an INsane person would want to put their healthcare in the hands of the same people who brought us this weeks economic crisis.

    vote,

you are correct that forcing kids into the public school is a terrible idea; thus, trying to emulate this model for health care would just be more of the same.

minnesota increased public funding from approximately $3k per kid in 1990 to $10k in the current budget, an increase of over 200% per kid while inflation probably went up maybe 25%. what was the result of all this massive increased spending?

minnesota has the worst record of blacks graduating of any state in the nation.

add to that is the fact that private schools educate kids for 2/3 the cost of public schools and have much better test scores.

now do you still think public vs. private is actually better?

So, Franken thinks Universal Health Care is so wonderful?

Then why are there no Mayo Clinics in Canada?

  9. ansel Says:
    October 12th, 2008 at 2:28 PM

    jbenson,

you have hit the nail right on the head. everytime these libs start talking about all the great health care in canada and europe, i ask them essentially the same question: how many americans go to canada/europe for health care vs. how many canadian/europeans come here for health care?

i don’t know the precise answer, but the libs never respond. i would guess it is 100:1 favorable to usa.

    Hey Morons

Anybody read the 10th amendment to the Constitution lately?

Wassup with national single payer healthcare, comrade?

  11. Chestnut Says:
    October 12th, 2008 at 9:42 PM

Oh, the 10th Amendment… I mean, I appreciate the sentiment, but are you kidding me? Democrats decided the Constitution was irrelevant years ago. I’m pretty sure FDR put the final nail in the coffin for any 10th Amendment argument with his court packing schemes.

  12. Kathy Says:

Members of Congress and their families have a Government run Health Care plan that is the envy of the world. Paid for with Taxpayer dollars and a benifit that stays with them when they retire.

Why shouldn’t Americans be able to buy into the same plan that Members of Congress get??? John McCain has Health Care for life. Yet he campaigns against such a plan he is privy to.

  13. Chestnut Says:
    October 13th, 2008 at 10:04 AM

That’s a pretty stupid comment, even from you Kathy.

  14. walter Hanson Says:
    October 13th, 2008 at 11:37 AM

    Plymouth Dem:

What better country are you talking about?

Canada has it’s people fleeing to our country to get their care. They sued to get private health insurance.

In England there are running jokes about waiting lines and that an animal can get an MRI faster than a human being.

It’s rationing! It takes away our choices! And the votes know it! That’s why Franken said in the debate he’s not favor of single payer care.

Too bad he won’t favor multiple options for Social Security that great ponsi scheme created by FDR.

Am I to assume Walter, you donate your Social Security check each month to charity of you are eligible to recieve it???
