MCCOLLUM REFUSES TO PARTICIPATE IF DEBATE IS TELEVISED ON BROADCAST TV
By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 13, 2008
Ed Matthews, the GOP endorsed candidate for Congress in the 4th CD, told me something rather amazing today: Congresswoman Betty McCollum refused to participate in tonight’s debate (the only scheduled debate) if it was broadcast on KSTP.
According to Matthews, her objection wasn’t to KSTP, but rather to having the debate televised to any large audience. Tonight’s debate is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and they have a broadcast agreement with the league to televise debates.
Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

Doncha hate it, when Democrats act like republiCons?
Last cycle, John Kline got the PiPress endorsment, and promptly blew off a debate in Red Wing, a radio debate, and even more damning, the Goodhue County Veterans Forum at the Zumbrota VFW.
And I don’t remember any GOPers complaining about that.
So I don’t agree with Betty tellin Davis to take a hike, but I don’t feel sorry for him.
Besides, he’s gonna get waxed with or without the debate, so WT(C)?

er, ’scuse me, “Matthews.”
Whatever.
He’s gonna get waxed.

Who’s Ed Matthews?

Hey Tommy – Kline’s participated in two or three televised debates in each of his re-election campaigns, all of which still ended in landslide victories. McCollum is just afraid that the people of St. Paul will realized that they’re represented by a vapid career politician who is a complete airhead by any objective standard.

So, Marc – you’re saying that when Kline agrees to a debate, and then cancels it, that’s fine with you.

Well, you know the adage that the camera ads 20 pounds…

Kevin Masrud for Congress (GOP write in candidate against John Kline)
Disgusted over bailout vote, ex-GOP leader enters Congress race
from the Shakopee newspaper:
Masrud, who already has YouTube and Blogspot Web sites up and hopes the word will spread via e-mail, said he is running not only against Kline, but Democrat candidate Steve Sarvi, who would have also voted for the bailout package.

Isn’t Betty the one who agreed with me that Toxic Al’s a potty-mouthed, dirty-minded porn-writer?

It’s no surprise you don’t remember, average dipshit.

Michael,
Heard on the radio today that Amy Klobachar isn’t returning all of her Tom Petters campaign contributions to the tune of around $70K. Have you heard anything about this, and why isn’t the media reporting?
Time for exposing the hypocritical Left.

Who’s Betty McCallum. I live in 4th CD and have no clue what she does for me. Does she just punch in the clock and collect her per diem? I’d love to see a debate between her and the challenger.
Surely she’s not just a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi and her San Francisco values.

Betty has a good job. Job for life in the 4th where the GOP doesn’t even invest at this point. You never hear about her, we have no idea what she does other than just tow the party line in congress.
Debate? I can’t recall the last time local news reported her saying a word in a house debate. Sign on here and there, and stay in office. It worked for Vento.

If you’d ever have heard Betty! speak, you’d understand why she doesn’t want any recorded records.
She has a PhD in moonbat blather.

The laughing you hear are others watching your little freak show. You really would have disappointed your parents, had they kept up with you after smartly abandoning you as a baby.

So, Ed Matthews is a credible source now for why a debate is not happening?
Sounds very similar to the last debate dust-up you tried to start by taking the word of a republican as gospel and not reaching out to the other candidates to get a feel for what ACTUALLY was happening.
It is your blog, and you can do with it what you wish, but know that when your credibility is questioned, it is due to posts like this.

What the heck are you talking about Leroy? I was at this debate and Betty stated she didn’t like the public TV setting and preferred the private closed setting. Ed confronted her on this and she never denied it. Get your facts straight.
MDE readers should not be concerned about credibility concerns from an anonymous comment troll to begin with. Ed Matthews was on fire.
Betty stated “There is no voter fraud problem in this country” or something like that. Hoots. She then REPEATED that there was no voter fraud problem at all in a discussion of photo ID. Not only is there a serious problem with voter fraud but it is her party’s funding of ACORN that is the cause!

I, too, was at the debate and was amazed at just how bad Betty looked. Mean Betty came out tonight, and perhaps that would be a good reason why she wouldn’t participate in a live TV debate throughout the district.
In fact, she even took on the LWV moderator at the end of the debate complaining about how “unfair” she was.
Just before that comment, BMC talked about the problems not being solved because she was in the minority for the first 6 years of her tenure there. To which Matthews replied, “Has it changed any in the last two years that you’ve been in the majority?” That’s when she showed her frustrations and complained about the moderator.
She really looked bad. I expected a whole lot more out of her.

(In fact, she even took on the LWV moderator at the end of the debate complaining about how “unfair†she was.) – I’m referring to the moderator when I said “she” the second time.

“I expected a whole lot more out of her.”
What has Betty McCollum ever said, or done to prompt yo to make that statement?
October 14th, 2008 at 10:31 am
Tommy – Members of Congress are busy people, sometimes they have to cancel. That doesn’t change the fact that Kline debates his challengers far more often than any other incumbent in this state. From today’s MPR story about their first debate: “Sarvi and Kline meet for three more debates before election day — there’s one Friday on Twin Cities Public Television, another Sunday sponsored by the League of Women Voters, and the candidates will have their final debate here on Minnesota Public Radio News. It’s October 30 as part of Midday’s Meet the Candidates series.”
