OBAMA CAMPAIGN NERVOUS ABOUT MCCAIN EFFORT IN MINNESOTA; CALLS TODD PALIN’S VISIT “THE POLITICS OF DISTRACTION”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 13, 2008

“Jeff Blodgett, Barack Obama’s Minnesota campaign director, was spinning from the sidelines as the field house filled up. He focused on the McCain campaign’s ongoing focus on Minnesota, including Todd Palin’s planned visit to northern Minnesota at the end of the week. ‘Obviously, they’re going for a win here, so we’ve got to run hard and treat this state as it is – a real battleground,’ Blodgett said. ‘We’re going to leave no stone unturned. And we think the voters are moving our way.’

He dismissed Todd Palin’s planned visit, drawing on his background as a professional snowmobiler, as ‘the politics of distraction. The McCain campaign is trying very hard to distract people from the economy, where we’re keeping the focus, and focus on these wedge issues like guns.’” Source: Star Tribune, October 13, 2008

So the husband of the Republican VP candidate is the “politics of distraction” but the wife of the Democrat presidential candidate showing up, the one who is finally just now proud of her country, isn’t.

Uh-huh. The arrogance to think they own this state. Talk about already measure for the curtains.

One of my friends went to a Sportsmen for McCain-Palin event last week in Duluth. He said there were 200 people there and I think the event was during the day in the middle of the week!

Imagine that, average dip. Only a couple of years ago, you bootlickers were cheering the thought of a Permanent Republican Majority, as envisioned by Tom DeLay.

These days, GOPers are running from the misAdministration of Bush The Lesser, and jerks like Paulsen avoid mentioning they’re GOPers.

Three guys are running for congress in the 3rd CD, and 2 of them used to be Republicans.

It’s assholes like you that make your party the Small Tent party, Dipstick.

Indeed. Obama thinks Mr. Palin campaigning on behalf of the McCain ticket is a distraction… he may be right.

It’s a distraction from Obama’s role training ACORN members and blockading every attempt to reform his biggest contributors at Fannie and Freddie before they destroyed the economy.

Yeah, it’s a distraction from Obama’s direct, active and majority role in bringing about economic chaos.

    Tommy,

Your post are so thoughtful and well reasoned, I can see why you were the star of your class at the at Sorosphere School for Political Thought.

Keep it up big guy, the class is counting on you.

I just stood with 4,500 people at Macalester watching Michelle Obama deliver one hell of a speech.

When compared with the 2,000 that the republican candidate himself was able to draw to his Lakeville visit, I think it is fair to say that Minnesota isn’t as much of a battle ground as republicans would like to think.

Poor Tommy. Just goes to show how being a liberal makes you so unhappy. Or is being so miserable make you a liberal?

    No matter.

    God bless John McCain!

“I just stood with 4,500 people at Macalester watching Michelle Obama deliver one hell of a speech.”

I’m sure the “kill whitey” part really warmed your heart.

  9. Chestnut Says:
    October 13th, 2008 at 7:20 PM

… and easy to draw 4,500 folks when your ability to graduate depends on your support for the socialist candidate.

  10. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    October 13th, 2008 at 7:44 PM

    Spin however you choose.

The fact remains. The next first lady drew more than twice as many supporters as your candidate could draw.

I can’t force you to hear the train coming. I can’t force you to see the train coming. And I can’t force you to get off the tracks. I just thought it would be nice to let y’all know that you are about to get run over.

Macalester. Huh. A bunch of rich spoiled white kids who have never worked a day in their lives. I’ll take my blue collar back ground and state college any day.

The fire marshal closed the McCain event in Lakeville because it was at capacity….how about the 15k that showed up in Blaine for McCain/Palin a few weeks ago?

  14. allen Says:
    October 13th, 2008 at 8:16 PM

People are slowly awakening to the fact that Obama’s tax plan will really be about sending checks to the “middle class” in the form of tax credits. It’s like bringing back welfare! WooHoo, I think he just bought my vote!

PB, it was El Druggo’s school I went to.

  16. Leroy Jenkins Says:

    Johnny Cakes-

Obama filled the X, and had a line a mile and a half still waiting to get in.

I think that trumps 15,000 in Blaine fairly easily.

    Care to try again?

  17. Wade Seeker Says:

Yoy went to school with Patrick Kennedy and Mark Dayton?

PB- I agree with you. How can you argue with Tommy the debate team captain, especially when he uses big words like ‘bootlicker’ and ‘old smoke screen in every other post?

  20. Chestnut Says:

Dont forget that the McCain rally was on Friday night. Top Rated Lakeville South was playing football in Eagan that night. Lakeville south stadium nots a very big facility, Meanwhile, Michelle Obama appears in the McCallister neighborhood of Saint Paul, where Obama is the substitute for Jesus.

  24. Eva Young Says:

I’m trying to find the quote in the article. This is what I found:

“The trip came three days after McCain held a town hall meeting in Lakeville. On Thursday, Todd Palin, husband of GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, is scheduled to visit northern Minnesota.”

Did the Strib edit out the piece you are quoting?

I’m sure Obama is also nervous about being up 11 points in Minnesota according to the most recent Quinnipiac Poll.

No bama and the polls…The polls are not correct. THey are not reflecting the Bardley Effect [for those dems who do not understand that means the anti-black vote]. It is present in both parties, because members of both parties ARE racist. That being said, subtract 6% from the polls, that’s right 6% and you will have the real winner of the election. THis will swing Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. taht being said we, in Northern MN look forward to seeing Todd Palin speak on guns rights and sportsmans issues, not NOBAMA taliking about taking away our sporting firearms and reducing our second ammendment rights. Duluth, Grand Rapids, Bemidji, THeif RIver Falls and Moorhead look to give a rousing welcome to Todd Palin. You go there PlyDem and figure out how you can over come the “race card”. It’s there, in both aprties and you don’t have to look very deep, which is good considering yhour shallow mind and thought process.
