BREAKING NEWS FROM THE STAR TRIBUNE: “ACORN VOTER FRAUD ALLEGATION SURFACES IN MINNESOTA”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 14, 2008

“The ACORN voter fraud dispute that has surfaced in many states this election season has now come up in Minnesota.

The Hennepin County attorney’s office said this afternoon that is investigating an allegation that an individual with the ACORN grass-roots community organization “did not fully comply with Minnesota voter registration rules.”

County Attorney Mike Freeman will be briefing reporters in more detail later this afternoon.” Source: Star Tribune, October 14, 2008

If there is evidence of wrongdoing, charge ‘em and put ‘em on trial. If they are crooks, throw ‘em in jail.

Of course, there’s so many republiCon crooks in jail these days, there may not be room at ClubFed…..

Obama sent $800,000 to ACORN. Kind of like buying an election…literally.

We all knew this was coming.

If another taxpayer dollar goes to this organization of criminals and the hopelessly unemployable….we should demand that politician’s head on a stick.

No candidate, journalist or even “activist” (again, activist is also code for unemployed)with any integrity can defend the unlawful actions of this group.

As a matter of fact, they’re so crooked, one of the group’s founders is already doing time (Rathke).

Soon, many of his minions will join him.

Clearly, the goal of ACORN’s GOTV efforts are born from the same strategy of George Wiley’s “National Welfare Rights Organization.”

Flood the welfare offices with applicants—so many so that the entire system breaks down and standards are lowered, thereby indirectly causing social change in its most basic form.

This is the same strategy imposed by flooding voter registration cards into state election offices, most importantly in swing states. ACORN knows how difficult it will be to cross reference all the names, birthdates and addresses—especially for so many 1st time voters.

But, like most thugs, despots and criminals—they aren’t very good at it.

Hell, they’re just lazy. Mickey Mouse? The starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys?

    Yep–just lazy.

Welcome to the provisional ballot! Their vote will eventually get tossed out anyway.

    Nice try ACORN.

    Dickheads.

This one posted yesterday, on Politico:

    October 13, 2008
    Acorn pushes back, hugs McCain

The beleaguered Democratic-leaning community group Acorn sends over this photograph: John McCain, in March of 2006, sitting beside Florida Rep. Kendrick Meek at an event Acorn co-sponsored in Florida.

The immigration event, which other photos show was packed with red-shirted Acorn member, was co-sponsored by the local Catholic Archdiocese, the SEIU, and other groups.

McCain, still spiting much of his party on immigration at the time, was the headliner.

Bertha Lewis, Acorn’s chief organizer, said in a statement that came with the photo, “It has deeply saddened us to see Senator McCain abandon his historic support for ACORN and our efforts to support the goals of low-income Americans.”

”We are sure that the extremists he is trying to get into a froth will be even more excited to learn that John McCain stood shoulder to shoulder with ACORN, at an ACORN co-sponsored event, to promote immigration reform,” she said.

    ROFLMAO!!!

Now, Grampa McSame is gonna have to claim: “Well, I supported ACORN, before I didn’t!”

And, hey – that’s a real nice picture of Grampa McSame with the ACORN bunch!!!

Tommy, McCain is a big amnesty guy. Acorn, McCain, Labor Unions, the Catholic Church and Obama are all in favor of more illegal immigration for their own reasons.

Acorn gets to register them for welfare benefits and voting.
    Obama gets the votes.
    Many illegals are also Catholic.
The Unions get to watch as their jobs are taken by illegals.
And McCain gets to watch the illegals vote for his opponent.

  10. Chestnut Says:
    October 14th, 2008 at 4:51 PM

ACORN is doing two things. First, that criminal enterprise is engaging in activities that facilitate voter fraud, particularly by registering felons and registering individuals in multiple jurisdictions, they’re creating tens of thousands of opportunities to case illegal ballots.

Second, they are engaging in activity that exaggerates the extent of support for Democrats. While this is definitively a Democrat favored election year, ACORN is setting the state for fraudulent claims of voter suppression when far fewer than the so-called registrants show up to the polls on election day.

The intent of both strategies is to undermine the democratic process and confidence in our elections.

ACORN is an un-American, anti-Democratic organization. No wonder Barak Obama paid them almost a million dollars for GOTV efforts.

  11. Tommy Johnson Says:
    October 14th, 2008 at 5:22 PM

Jay, if ACORN was such a buncha crooks, then McCain wouldn’t have been seen in the same city, let alone event, with ‘em.

But, hey – if the rightwingnuts want to spin it, two can play that game, too.

Personally, I’m a lot more worried about voting machines, and so should GOPers. Right now, GOPer-friendly companies have the monopoly, ’cause the GOP has been in power – but that’s about to change, and so (presumably) will the contracts for voting machines.

Well, if the GOP could rig the machines, what’s to stop the Dems from rigging ‘em?

The GOP’s problem, is they assumed they’d be in power “Permanently.”

Now, what they done did, is gonna bite ‘em.

And that’s not necessarily good; although it is understandable.

  12. Micah Says:
    October 14th, 2008 at 6:10 PM

You need to update your Strib story. The story does not mention “voter fraud” anywhere now and this old version misrepresents the alleged problem. If you want to maintain any kind of integrity, you’d note this and update your post as such. If anything, it shows incompetence by ACORN staff, not fraud.

  13. jbenson2 Says:
    October 14th, 2008 at 6:41 PM

The story does not mention “voter fraud” anywhere but it does mention ACORN.

There is no difference between ACORN and voter fraud. They are one and the same.

And the article clearly points out that the Minnesota ACORN office is under investigation and the Hennepin County Attorney’s office will determine if ACORN’s actions fall within guidelines for criminal prosecution.

  14. Mustang09 Says:
    October 14th, 2008 at 9:37 PM

What is so maddening about this story is that we are supposed to believe that even though ACORN has registered thousands illegally in neighboring states, here in MN the only problem is some cards weren’t turned in on time. Ridiculous. This is a weak attempt for Hennepin county to say “hey look, we investigated them and we did find this one problem” allowing them to overlook massive voter fraud. And yes, it is voter fraud for several reasons, ranging from the sheer volume of registrants making it nearly impossible to police up the people who will run from precinct to precinct voting their aliases, to the flat out ballot box stuffing that can occur when there is a significant difference between numbers of registered voters versus the actual turnout. Importing welfare recipients from Chicago was bound to cause the importation of Chicago machine politics and fraud, and we are watching it happen under our noses.

  15. Gary Swansen Says:
    October 14th, 2008 at 10:19 PM

Michael – When are you going to write a post reminding people that ACORN received several hundred thousand dollars from Capital One that would have been deposited in the State of Minnesota’s coffers … if not for then Solicitor General Lori Swanson’s signature on a $749,999.00 settlement in 2006. Hatch was the AG, but Swanson was the Solicitor General, and it’s beyond me how the MSM can be covering this ACORN story in Minnesota and NOT bring up the fishy relationship between the current AG and the organization. Make this blog live up to its name and remind everyone how ACORN’s MN operations are funded.

  16. Dr.Bob Says:
    October 14th, 2008 at 10:49 PM

ACORN needs to die. A Federal RICO investigation is necessary, and Federal funding must be cut off.
