BREAKING NEWS: ANGRY FRANKEN CONFRONTS COLEMAN AFTER DEBATE; MRS. FRANKEN RUNS ON STAGE TO GET FRANKEN AWAY FROM COLEMAN
By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 16, 2008
UPDATE #2: The video starts just as Mrs. Franken has rushed to the stage. The camera is fixed, so we don’t see Mrs. Franken until she gets to the stage. Franken clearly sees her, but he keeps engaging Coleman in a discussion, so she walks around the table. If this was just a polite conversation, Mrs. Franken wouldn’t have needed to rush the stage and break-up the discussion.
Franken, visibly upset, continues to get in Senator Coleman’s face. Franken is seen on film staring Coleman down as he finally recognizes that Mrs. Franken is trying to get his attention. I slowed down the final few second so you can really see Franken’s anger. Please note Franken staring at Coleman at the end. Franken was cleary upset.
UPDATE: I’ve received a video clip, but I’m having trouble uploading it to YouTube. I should have it posted soon. Please see the picture below of Franken getting in Coleman’s face and Mrs. Franken pulling Franken away.

An angry Franken in Coleman face after the debate. Mrs. Franken is seen pulling Franken away.

Coleman tries to calm an angry Franken down.
According to dedicated readers of Minnesota Democrats Exposed who were at tonight’s U.S. Senate debate in Duluth, Al Franken got in U.S. Senator Norm Coleman face as soon as the microphones were off at the end of the debate.
My sources said that Franken was very upset and was speaking with a raised voice. Mrs. Franken reportedly ran on stage to get Franken away from Coleman.
Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

Franken is an absolute thug!
October 16th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Hope some one got this on video
October 16th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Heh.
October 16th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Angry Al gets angry. Not surprised.
October 16th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
if this is on tape, franken will be toast.
October 16th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
if this is on tape, franken will be toast.
Sadly I don’t think it would make a bit of difference to liberals. They would defend this angry clown if he went after Norm with a knife, on video from three angles. They’d make excuses for him saying Norm made him do it. He’d be their hero.
October 16th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
The media was there and must have saw it. I wonder if they will report it?? You know Eye Witness News???
October 16th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
It will be great if there is a tape, but we have seen countless examples already of Franken’s frenzied attacks. Keep it up Al. We really want to see you move out of the state (but not to Washington, DC).
October 16th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
I’m hearing there may be video…stand by
October 16th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
i have no doubt the libs will stay with franken, but some of those that have deserted norm for dipstick may come back.
as i recall in the governor’s race in 2002, tim penney was polling around 20-25% just prior to election, but only ended up with 15%; thus, i am thinking this trend will also evolve with barkley that 10% of his support will move to coleman on election day.
October 16th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Anyone who isn’t pissed at Norm isn’t paying attention.
October 16th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Um… ok thanks for the reflection Leroy.
Wow, that was random.
October 16th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
I watched it live on The UpTake. There wasn’t any angry confrontation. Franni Franken as well as Laurie Coleman were both up near them.
So the debate went so bad for Norm that you want to make up an issue like this?
October 16th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Just heard from a source that it didn’t happen.
October 16th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I am sure this will be like the many other times Michael’s “sources” lied and Michael blindly posts it.
Example, when his “sources” claimed Franken was thrown out of an Obama fundraiser by the secret service.
October 16th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Wow, Hal has a source. Aaron is spinning it. And Leroy started hitting the bottle earlier than usual tonight.
Must be a full moon…
October 16th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
My sources would have no reason to lie to me…I stand by my story.
October 16th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
This type of confrontation happens a lot after debates, and it’s almost exclusively the result of Democrats accosting Republican opponents. Democrats get very mad when Republicans point out Democrats’ lies and hypocrisy.
October 16th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
I have video up at my blog. Enjoy
October 16th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
hal what is the link to your blog?
October 16th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
I watched the debate on theuptake.org and there was no confrontation at the end, unless it happened long after the debate. ie 10 Minutes after the debate.
October 16th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
That’s pretty funny Hal. I mean that. Seriously.
October 16th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Hal,
Clever - get a life
October 16th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
let’s assume it did not happen.
October 16th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Shocking.
No one can confirm Michael’s story.
October 16th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
This is not at all true…I was there and was sitting in the second row right behind Franni. Nice try.
October 16th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Michael,
I assume you will retract with an apology?
October 16th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Do all those nice white folks in Minnesota really want a pornographer to represent them in the Senate of the United States?
October 16th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Hey Mouth,
Have your parents apologized for you?
October 16th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Michael - my sources tell me you’re way off base.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
You people in MN are a bunch of Pussies. How is the world is it possible for ANY democrat to EVER win an election there?
Are you New York or something?
October 16th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Seems to me that Kate, sitting behind Franni, is in a much better spot to comment on this than some anonymous e-mailer.
Nice try, Michael.
Can’t wait to see a video of nothing happening.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
O.K., Leroy. Goooooo, Al, Yooooooouuuur Pal!
Loser.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:00 am
Just posted a picture…more coming.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:00 am
Flounder, my sources tell me that once again you’re taking Frankenfrauds word as truth, just like how your wife was not having sex with ,,,,,
October 17th, 2008 at 12:02 am
If you get video, you must send it to Sean Hannity. Franken got mad during a radio interview a couple of years ago and ran out in the hallway and attacked him.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Hmmm..*POOF* the video has mysteriously ‘disappeared’ down the memory hole.
Typical of democrats to ‘disappear’ what they are embarrassed of on websites these days. Obama’s website has disappeared quite a bunch of content from leftist supporters of his as well as his own ACORN content.
Let us know Mike when you get ahold of some of this video. There are plenty of other sites to host it.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:16 am
Franken is a very angry soul. He once attacked someone at a rally because they kept asking the speaker questions.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Obama has gained a reputation as a ’silencer’, with ACORN, and his followers’ (the media) attacks on ‘Joe the Plumber’
Now we have Franken unhinged and going after his debate opponent
Two weeks ago I was solidly pro-Obama, but no more
These people scare the crap out of me– they’re thugs!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:40 am
Franken’s wife rushed to stop her husband. Most likely an effort to keep him from getting his dumb ass whipped.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:59 am
I’d just kick his (Franken’s) ass right there on the spot. Easy fix.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:35 am
Hey, that Jew: Guess you didn’t get your updated talking points memo from Nobama. Your “kill him” meme claim is a fabrication. http://www.timesleader.com/news/breakingnews/Secret_Service_says_Kill_him_allegation_unfounded_.html
October 17th, 2008 at 1:37 am
Franken has lost my vote.
And likely Obama too.
The hope has turned into something scary.
October 17th, 2008 at 2:10 am
This is the October surprise! Al Franken speaking with a raised voice! Boy, you sure did bust him! And his wife walked up to him! Wow that was the big one! I heard later in the night, Al got a diet coke when he ordered regular and he asked for a replacement WITHOUT SAYING PLEASE. Nice going, Brodkorb, and thank you for this report that has no connection whatsoever to the fact that Coleman is down 6 points. In the words of Coleman (as a radical liberal at Hofstra) this is the “first blood of the revolution!”
October 17th, 2008 at 2:41 am
That’s a Democrat for you.
They’re all crazed Nazi thugs, just like Obama.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:05 am
Rip open Angry Al’s shirt and you’ll see a brown t-shirt. These thugs all goosestep to the same thug drummer.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:33 am
Wow, good video Michael. I’ll still take my cats fighting video though
October 17th, 2008 at 7:43 am
Great reporting MDE. Always exposing the left for what it is, a bunch of angry people. So are all the people who where calling you a liar going to retract now with an apology, considering you were correct?
October 17th, 2008 at 7:48 am
Coleman must really be getting whipped in his internal polling numbers.
This is really lame.
“Franken, visibly upset, continues to get in Senator Coleman’s face. Franken is seen on film staring Coleman down as he finally recognizes that Mrs. Franken is trying to get his attention.
Yeah, “right.”
Coleman got pummelled by both Barkely and Franken, with Barkley doing the most damage.
Coleman tried to claim credit for dropping Team Smokescreen’s negative ads; Barkey punched Coleman in the gut: “The only thing missing from your statement was an apology” for running ‘em in the first place.
If there was Instant Runoff Voting, Coleman would finish dead last. Even without it, Coleman still might.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:51 am
That is the most absurd video “evidence” ever. Nice try Michael.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:13 am
“Al got a diet coke when he ordered regular and he asked for a replacement WITHOUT SAYING PLEASE.”
This actually would have been more of a story than what Michael has dreamed up.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:35 am
[...] Anyone following the public career of washed-up comedian, washed-up radio host, and washed-up pundit Al Franken should not be surprised to see him lose his cool in public. Almost predictably, Franken got into Norm Coleman’s face after apparently losing a debate last night in Minnesota. Michael Brodkorb has video, an explanation, and the world’s longest URLs: [...]
October 17th, 2008 at 10:10 am
think about it–how many candidates stick around after a debate to “shoot the breeze”? none of these guys are anywhere near friendly. if you watch debates, once the debate is over the candidates go to mingle with their supporters, not confront their opponents. then, in the case of franken, we all know his personality is that of a bully, so i think it is safe to conclude he must of thought he lost or he would have gone to his supporters to celebrate.
thank you al for helping norm.
October 17th, 2008 at 10:27 am
I think it’s high time Norm quits looking at first place, and makes sure he can still salvage second.
If it helps, in that one picture, Barkley seems to be throwing imaginary haymakers at Norm, but since he is single, we will never know if his wife would have stepped in.
October 17th, 2008 at 10:57 am
When McCain gets pissed and Obama keeps his cool, they say Obama looks more “Presidential”.
When Franken gets pissed and Coleman keeps his cool, they say Franken is a fighter for Minnesota families.
I love how these standards just keep changing.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:22 am
“When Franken gets pissed and Coleman keeps his cool, they say Franken is a fighter for Minnesota families.”
Yeah, except there’s no indication Franken got “pissed” or that Coleman kept his cool. This is just a desperate attempt to take harmless completely dull video and try and spin it as something it’s not. Sorta like how the Republicans used the Wellstone video to try and paint Franken as angry.
If anything, looking at the pictures, it looks like Coleman is pissed.
This is a dumb, sorry attempt to deflect from a bad debate performance. Michael couldn’t even find it in himself to post a “Coleman won the debate” post this time around.
October 17th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Ha, weak sauce! What a lame video. Nothing happened!
October 17th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Way to go, Al. tell it like it is
October 17th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Just think if you vote in either one of these 2 you will get to see more fighting and stares and nothing will get done as usual!! What a bunch of smart people. Vote in the best of the grudge holders !!!
Man! Wake up and smell the coffee or what you are shoveling. If you vote Dean in what does that tell the rest of the country? It will tell them that you sent someone to Washington that is there to represent Minnesota and will not be part of this partisian crap and will not be held to those special interest groups. Remember folks, it was at the urging of special interests that got congress to back on regulation and now look at the mess we are in and it is only going to get worse. Start voting for people that are not going to be held to these groups.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Franken clearly tried to get in his face. This bully needs to be stopped! And give credit to Norm for being the better man.
Al Franken = No Class.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Listen, this is just an open call to all Republicans. We can all agree that a Senator Franken will not just be a disaster for Minnesota, but for America.
But Coleman has been something of a disaster and embarrassment himself.
Barkley is no ray of sunshine, but in a three way race, Franken wins. Can we abandon the guy, Coleman, who has already let us down and at least make sure a fascist fuckhead like Al Franken can move back to New York where he belongs?
October 17th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Chestnut, right or wrong, your plan will fail. I agree with your sentiments here regularly, but in this case you are preaching to the congregation of engaged politicos. The majority of voters are ill informed and will vote for whichever party they are told to vote for. With Coleman being endorsed by the GOP and Franken by the DFL I would say Barkleys’ sole role will be that of the spoiler. Please keep Franken OUT and vote for Coleman…he will do less harm. It is time to limit future damage…not live ideologically. Sorry
October 17th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
I don’t need to go to the Onion anymore, I get all my laughs from MDE! Keep up the absurdity!
October 17th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Norm Coleman? He is a great yes man for the Special Interest groups. Vote for him and get more screwed over than you already are. If not for Barkley I would vote for Homer Simpson. I wouldn’t vote for Norm Coleman for City Sewer Cleaner. He is dirtier than a garbage dump. I wouldn’t trust him any farther than Al could toss him. He let us down. He let our economy go to hell and did what he could for his oil company buddies. He knew this was happening, from what I have heard, back in 2005.
You all want to vote for either of these 2? I can gurantee you that in less then 2 years you will be screaming for either of them to be ousted.
Dean no ray of sunshine? But at least he doesn’t smell of the same stuff the other 2 are peddling.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
I’m sure you’re right hi-ten, but Norm Coleman lost his privilege to be the Senator who lets me down for another six years.
I needed him to tell me what kind of leadership he’d provide on critical issues going forward. He’s failed.
I can’t bring myself to vote for Norm this year.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Emerald,
I agree with your thoughts on Norm, but you don’t seem to know too much about Barkley. He made up what you call the “special interests” by being a long time lobbyist at the state capitol. In terms of “smelling” the same stuff as the others, one of his lobbying clients was a tobacco company
October 17th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
I watched this piece of “visual evidence” of yours, Michael, and saw two men discussing something that I could not decipher. We do not know what they were talking about after the debate. There was a amoment at the Rochester debate where Al and Norm said a few words to one another.
I will see both Al and Franni tomorrow at different events. I can get an honest assessment about what happened.
October 17th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Sinister, I do know him!!! Have talked to him on many occasions. Still better than the other 2
But here is something I just read. I don’t know if this is true or not. But can someone help me find out if this is true or not?
Norm Coleman Took Campaign Cash From Saddam Hussein’s Lobbyist
This was on another blog MNpublis.
Anyone?

October 17th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
This is fascinating. Funny how Hollywood action heroes turned politicians Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger never had any fight scenes in their election campaigns.

October 17th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Franken certainly did wrestle a senior citizen to the ground for daring to heckle Jon Kary(sic),I think in 2004.
Afterwards Franken bragged about being on his high school wrestling team.
October 18th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Wellstone was a wrestler too, must have somthing to do with compensating for being girlymen! LOL!
October 18th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Hearing it from Franni, nothing angrily happened between Al and Norm. They were just talking about something after the debate. Franni was coming to Al to say that the car was waiting and that it was time to leave.
Nice try, Michael.
