MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “AGGRESSIVE, THREATENING FRANKEN BEHAVIOR AT LAST NIGHT’S DEBATE REQUIRES APOLOGY, EXPLANATION”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 17, 2008
St. Paul – Saying that video footage of last night’s debate in Duluth [I think they mean my video], MN shows the angry, aggressive, threatening Al Franken persona that reminds every Minnesotan why his temperament is ill-suited to successfully serving in the U.S. Senate, Ron Carey, Chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota, said Franken should apologize and be held accountable for yet another bout of undisciplined public conduc
“Once again, Al Franken has demonstrated why his temperament and inter-personal manner is ill-suited to being a successful U.S. Senator,” observed Carey. “Attempting to get in one’s face as Franken clearly tried to do with Senator Coleman is un-senatorial, unprofessional and is part of a broader behavior problem that will limit his ability to be taken seriously by fellow lawmakers.”
Carey said Franken must certainly have been aware there were onlookers to his conduct, and surmised it may have been an ill-considered tactical maneuver. “This reminds me of the 2000 Senate debate between Hillary Clinton and Rep. Lazio in which Lazio violated her space in an aggressive, uncomfortable manner. This maneuver by Franken has clearly backfired – just like it did on Rick Lazio.
“Regardless of what Franken was saying – it’s how he said it, and while Norm Coleman has made a legitimate attempt to raise the level and quality of the campaign debate, Al Franken continues along on his belligerent course.”
In Debate, Lazio Waved Pledge In Mrs. Clinton’s Face. “During the debate, Mr. Lazio walked over to Mrs. Clinton’s lectern, waving a sheet of paper, gesturing at her and demanding that she sign a pledge abstaining from using unregulated campaign contributions known as soft money. She declined. Mrs. Clinton’s advisers have portrayed his actions as bullying and likely to alienate women.†(RANDAL C. ARCHIBOLD, “Lazio Says Debate Critics Are Sexist,†New York Times, September 20, 2000)
Lazio To Clinton: Sign It Now. “At the end of the debate, Lazio literally pulled a surprise out of his suit pocket – a pledge not to use any more soft money in the campaign. He had signed it already, and walked over to Clinton’s podium to ask her to join him. ‘Sign it now,’ he said. ‘I don’t want any more wiggle room, any more evasions. Here it is. Let’s sign it. Let’s do something important for America.’ She replied, with a chuckle, ‘That was a wonderful performance, you did it very well.’ She said she would sign it only if he gave her similar pledges signed by all the independent groups that have run negative TV ads and mailed anti-Hillary letters across the state.†(Fred Kaplan, “In Lazio-Clinton debate, wide-ranging battle,†Boston Globe, September 14, 2000)
Rick Lazio Admits Mistake For Stuffing Campaign Pledge In Mrs. Clinton’s Face. “Eight years ago, Rick Lazio walked across a debate stage in Buffalo and stuffed a campaign pledge in front of Hillary Rodham Clinton. That move, perceived as bullying and chauvinistic, cemented his place in political history as an example of what not to do during a debate with a female opponent, political experts said yesterday. Lazio yesterday acknowledged in an interview that he made a mistake, mainly in underestimating how the audience would react to such a move.†(REID J. EPSTEIN, “Lazio admits mistake in debate with Clinton,†Newsday, October 2, 2008)

Angry Al and his minions admit error? Hardly. They’ll celebrate it. They’ll ask why everyone isn’t acting angry and getting in Norm’s face. After all, even Obama told his disciples to get in the faces of people who don’t believe. Thugary is what they’re all about. Forcing their beliefs on others is their thing. Shutting up opposition is the new “liberalism”. Hate in a Brown Shirt.

Are you Fing kidding me? Did MnGOP even think to ASK THEIR CANIDATE, Norm, what was said before releasing a press release?
It’s pretty telling that they have nothing in here such as Norm even acknowledging a confrontation.
“Regardless of what Franken was saying – it’s how he said it”
HAHAHAHA.
This is just coverage for when it comes out they were talking about Norm’s daughter or something completely random.
MnGOP, keeping it classy as usual.

I heard the conversation went like this:
Al – “Say, Norm – nice suit. Got it from Norman Marcus, didn’t ya?”
Norm – “I said I “bought” it, and I did. I just had someone else “pay” for it.”
Al – “Don’t worry, Norm – your pal Jeff Larson has a job for you come January – and your commute will be about 10 feet!”

I heard the conversation went like this:
Al – “Hey, you f’ing idiot, how the h*ll am I gonna win this fricken election if you keep bringing up my taxes?”
Norm – “A little angry, Al?”
Al – “F-you, you f-ing m-f’er”
Norm – “How’s your accountant doing? Gonna take the duct tape off his mouth sometime soon?”
Al – “(%^&$ you, &^%$’en &6##@^er”
Norm – “Hey, you working on any new porn articles?”
Al – *%%^*@ (and this is the point his wife stepped in….)

It is comforting to know that MnGOP still loves harping on stupid issues even when their candidates are tanking in the polls.
Can we have another press release on stolen scooters too?

Poor Al, he is just another angry lib. Or is that redundant?

Another MDE post, another non-issue. When’s the last time the spaghetti stuck to the wall, Michael?
You are becoming more pathetic as Election Day approaches.
Jezus, dude, I hope you’re paid enough for this crap.
