ECM PUBLICATIONS ENDORSES COLEMAN FOR RE-ELECTION

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 20, 2008

U.S. Senator Norm Coleman has received the endorsement of ECM Publications, his third editorial board endorsement of 2008.  I’m sure Al Franken will get endorsed by a newspaper, but the list of opportunities is getting smaller.

From ECM’s endorsement:

“The ECM Publishers Editorial Board has interviewed all three candidates personally. The board concluded that any of the three men are well qualified to be Minnesota’s U.S. senator. Its decision is to endorse Sen. Coleman for re-election.” Source: ECM Publications, October 20, 2008

Sen. Coleman gets our endorsement because of his public service and legislative experience, his difficult vote for the $700 billion rescue of the economy and his willingness to work with Democratic members in the Congress.” Source: ECM Publications, October 20, 2008

The Strib will endorse Franken. By rule, the only time the Strib endorses Republicans, is when there are no Democrats on the ticket, or if the Democrat has already been convicted of downloading child porn.

    >em>”…willingness to work with Democratic members in the Congress.”

    ROFLMAO!!!

That’s ’cause ol’ Smokescreen IS a Democrat!!!

When it was good to be a Democrat, Norm was a Democrat. When it was good to be a Republican, Norm became a Republican. When it was good to be a Bootlicker For Bush, Norm was a lapdog and cheerleader for Boy Blunder.

Is there anyone out there that doesn’t seriously wonder, that if the count is 58 (not counting Bernie) on the Democratic side of the aisle, Norm wouldn’t bolt to the Dems for a committee chair?

“That’s ’cause ol’ Smokescreen IS a Democrat!!!”

Tommy’s got a point. For all the parts of Norm Coleman that make him a weasel with questionable ethics, he’s a terrific Democrat.

or if the Democrat has already been convicted of downloading child porn.

…and there was video at three different angles of it. If there’s no video present it’s still possible they’d endorse of the opponent isn’t a RINO.

Average Joe, Scrotee, er, ‘scuse me, “Swiftee” claims to be a GOPer.

And he must be; after all, he linked to full-frontal male nudity – IOW, “porn” – “right” here on MDE.

And Swiftee is your party’s base.

Can’t wait to see the flood of endorsements from the 6th for El Tinklenberg. Hey Brodkorb, are you on Bachmann’s payroll this election like you were in 2006? She’s getting some GREAT advice!

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

What did her ugly little mouth cost her so far–over $700,000????

And Swiftee is your party’s base.

And the potty-mouthed, porn-writing tax cheat is your actual endorsed candidate. Jeez, how idiotic is that?

“What did her ugly little mouth cost her so far–over $700,000????”

Didn’t cost her a penny. Better yet, she told the truth.

Speakin’ o’ “cheats”, when is Norm gonna fess up on who’s name is on his utility bill?

The guy cheats on his rent, his utilities, and even his suits.

And Tom Swift links to full frontal male nudity.

Quit stalling and admit it, Joe – that’s a toe-tappin’ party you got there.

When is Angry Al the Tax Cheat going to take the duct tape off the mouth of his accountant?

Newspaper endorsements may matter a little for local races, but they do not mean much for a US Senate race. The Strib and Pi Press will maybe move 20 votes and even that is pushing it.

So, Fargo, and a chain of weeklies have now endorsed, and you are implying that the opportunities for papers to endorse are dwindling?

Last time I checked, there were 20 some daily newspapers in the state, and several hundred weeklies, many of which are bigger than anything ECM publishes.

The only thing dwindling in this race is Norm’s chances.

  13. Jim Says:

I have worked in Anoka County for a number of years now and believe me, almost no one cares who the ECM papers endorse for statewide office. Readers of the UNION and other ECM papers look for local news and events. The ECM papers are good newspapers but their readership does not expect them to cover state news or politics.

The only people who care about the Star Tribune endorsements are the voters who use the paper to cover up at night on Hennepin. Maybe a few who use it for toilet paper and a few old ladies who use it for the bottom of bird cages. Educated people make up their own minds.
