MESABI DAILY NEWS ENDORSEMENT: “FRANKEN SADLY OUT OF STEP ON ISSUES…”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 26, 2008

The Mesabi Daily News’ endorsement of U.S. Senator Norm Coleman must be a tough read for Team Coleman. The editorial board wrote that Barkley was their second choice and that Franken is “sadly out of step on issues that play such a crucial role in the future of Northeastern Minnesota.”

Barkley is definitely our second choice in this race. However, we are concerned that he has not been a strong public advocate for mining and logging and multiple use of our recreation areas in Northeastern Minnesota. Perhaps he is supportive on those issues, but that has not been a key component of his campaign.

Franken has brought ‘star’ quality to the election. He is clearly a darling of Democratic activists in the state. And he’s also been embraced by national Democratic groups because they see his victory as helping the party to secure 60 votes in the Senate, which would allow the majority party to close off debate and push through its agenda.

But we find Franken to be sadly out of step on issues that play such a crucial role in the future of Northeastern Minnesota.” Source: Mesabi Daily News, October 25, 2008

Well, I’m glad Gore not only invented the internet; he invented MS Word for his buddy Bill Gates! And I simply love the “cut ‘n paste” feature Gore invented for Bill:

What all these editors are ignoring, is the very real possibility Norm won’t make it through his next term, if elected.

The RentGate issue is pending; Team Coleman is still ducking the Utility Bill issue; Norm nor his spokestools have never directly denied that Larson bought Norm clothing; and usually where there’s a Smokescreen, there’s a fire.

Wishing these issues will go away on November 5th is simply wishful thinking. Instead of being able to move Minnesota forward, a re-elected Coleman will be moving to cover his ethically- (and possibly legally) -challenged ass.

This blows away whatever was left of Angry Al’s flimsy rebuttal to the Star Tribune endorsement. When Coleman gets endorsements from both Twin Cities newspapers and a major paper on the Iron Range, it’s pretty hard to deligitimize that.

Maybe the editors realized the issues that Tommy brought up about Coleman are overshadowed by Franken’s negative baggage.

Let’s be honest here: Neither Coleman nor Franken is the ideal choice. Of the 85% of us who vote for either Coleman or Franken, at least will half will hold their noses when doing so.

I would seriously consider Barkley if he came across as something more than a protest vote.

I never thought though, that Coleman would get the nod from the Star and Tribune, the Pioneer Press, and an Iron Range paper. I wonder what Mike Ciresi is thinking right about now?

” RentGate” thats all you’ve got Flounder? I suppose “Taxcheat” gate and “Stealing from childrens charities” gate are too small to mention to a libtard like you?

“RealityGate” is too big for a dumb(cheney) like you, Wade.
