Yeah, it seems as though if he had two failed marriages in his short life that his wives are the problem. Probably not. He's an ass.

Come on People, get off the hand issue and think about the message the piece is trying to send. Is the hand supposed to be a white hand? Are we to assume the all rapists and pedophiles/ convicted sex offenders are white? And to you amgirl, do you have any clue where Sheldon Johnson lives? It's not the east side, let alone St.Paul. He lives about 45 minutes north of St.Paul. . Also, where did you find your records of Dave Carlson being married twice? Do you have special access to marriage records or contact with his bitter ex's?

Let's just make one thing clear: even if Dave Carlson is elected THERE IS NO WAY POSSIBLE he can control where pedophiles live. This a deplorable attempt to prey on East Siders' fears. A vote for David Carlson is not a vote that will keep pedeophiles out of our neighborhoods. It is a vote that will NOT help the East Side in anyway. He is a dishonest, conniving person. Just ask one of his EX-wives! Yup he has more than one. By the way, does Carlson even live on the Eastside anymore? I thought that was one of the requirements...silly me.

DJZ:

Boy are you delusion. We haven't even had the election yet and you already think that Obama has kicked butt. Last time I looked Obama's lead is shrinking, Paulsen and Coleman not only are ahead Coleman has his largest lead in months.

What killed the Republican brand wasn't Obama like you think, or George Bush like Chestnut thinks, it was a Republican Congress that basically didn't implement our ideas. They were the ones that let spending explode out of control (okay Bush was partially responsible by not veoting bills until the Democrats got control). If we had the same dedication in 2005 to open up drilling that we had in the summer of 2008 we would've had serious legislation passed to open up drilling.

As for questioning Mccain's morals. There was a debate where the two candidates were asked is there evil? Mccain very quick and solid yes. Obama went something like um.., oho, well there are some evil things. The fact that he doesn't know there is evil shows he doesn't know there is a right and wrong. That explains why he hangs out with William Ayers. That explains why he sat in a pew of a church for twenty years and didn't know his minister said some crazy and weird things. Furthermore he doesn't think his minister is a problem until after the minister holds an angry press conference. No you shouldn't be voting for Obama if you care about morals so I look forward to you join us in electing John Mccain to be our next President of the United States.

Actually, I wasn't making personal attacks at all, just critisizing Dave's employment history. I could make many personal attacks, but this certainly is not an appropriate venue for them.

FYI #72 Below is the 40 million Sheldon voted for.

National Great River Park
$6,000,000.00
Snowmakers for the Battle Creek Recreation Area $1,500,000.00
Lower Afton Trail Funding
$450,000.00
High-Speed Rail Line between St. Paul and Chicago $4,000,000.00
St. Paul Union Depot $9,000,000.00
St. Paul River Centre Loan forgiveness $5,250,000.00
Keller and Phalen Parks Master Plan
$100,000.00
$10.5 million Met Council land grab $10,500,000.00
Amateur Sports Facility for St. Paul
$250,000.00
Playgrounds in St. Paul
$3,000,000.00
Total: $40,050,000.00

As you can see, he is all about trails and snails. I guess while a lot of eastsiders are losing their jobs and homes we will be able to thank Sheldon for the park benches because that will be the only place left for us to sleep after our DFL controlled State Government takes total control. We need someone like David Carlson in the House so we can keep people like Sheldon out of our pockets.

I've seen Dave with his children on a number of occasions. He is a very good father. All of his marine buddies would attest to that. For someone who says they are just an informed voter, you seem to be making personal attacks without any foundation.

"He has single-handily taken down the Republican brand and kicked their asses from Montana to Mississippi."

No, George W. Bush did that. Obama is a stupid, EEOC piece of shit, selected for the color of his skin, not for the content of his character.

Oh and Jane baby, if you vote for morals and family values and still vote republican you have to explain how you can vote McCain over Obama. The Obamas are a great family, the McCains are unknown. John was a dick to his first wife divorced her after he cheated over and over and found a rich one, and this one appears somewhat afraid of him. He picks as his running mate a woman who's husband ran with an anti-American crowd and has a problem instilling good values in her kids. The oldest two dropped out of high school, the boy was on drugs and partying all the time until the ultimatum of jail or military came before him and the daughter. Well, getting knocked up at 17, and then married at 18. neither one with a diploma or college prospects.

Good ol' family values. Not to mention the investigation for corruption, abuse of power and misuse of office for flying the family around on taxpayers dime.

Ask the Oil companies about her socialist redistribution program.

I'm wondering if you're really Carlson's baby mama's mother.

Chester, you just called the man stupid. He has single-handily taken down the Republican brand and kicked their asses from Montana to Mississippi. I know it kills you, but you've been beaten by him, period. Not just for President but his turnout is going to put enough democrats over the top all the way down the ticket to school board, that we'll finally be able to fix this country. Just wait until we set the courts and state legislatures right across the country. You're welcome to go to China or North Korea where your tactics are welcome.

Walter, save the white man blues song. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will be interested in knowing all you have to do is play the race card to win the Presidential nomination. You make a lot of sense. Are majority of people just stupid and you're smarter? I mean, he must have made his case to a majority of people and it appears he will be the most popular elected president. Don't you just hate it:) Yes, you do.

Doe, I found the same thing out that you did. This deadbeat is not taking care of the family. Johnson had a career before the legislature and took care of his family.

Eastsider,
Sheldon could not have put all of the east side allocation anywhere. There is no 'eastside' budget allocation. You pulled that out of your ass, or maybe out of Carlson box of qualifications. Oh, if you really were an Eastsider, you'd know that there are five house members who's district overlap in the east side. Johnson out ranks only one.

So let's see that Carlson, Matthews and McCain right? Three strikes who's total won't equal 100 in st paul.

First, he isn't even in school anymore according to a contact I have with the school. Most students I know with a family do work and support their family. If that's not a priority of his, then so be it.

I'm certainly not an elitist, and will be voting for McCain, and have always voted Republican based on family values and good morals. Based on what I know of Dave, I will certainly not be voting for him, and neither will my neighbors.

"Hey Sheldon can you grab the trash bag, we have some garbage over here..."

"Sergeant Carlson, we're taking fire from the East, what do you want us to do..."

I wonder which experience rates more in making governmental decisions. When Sheldon Johnson was elected, he was a activist. He had a education and that was it. David Carlson has been in college every single year since he graduated from high school. He even left early to fight a war for all of us.

When David Carlson first ran for office, he had worked for Governor Ventura, Secretary of State Kiffmeyer, studied at UMD, the United Kingdom, and the University of Minnesota. He graduated from a legitamate East Side school, Johnson Senior High.

He served four years honorably in the Marine Corps infantry. You talk about experience, I know Mr. Carlson, and he has plenty of life experience. He basically raised his sister and helped guide her to a four year degree. I find it appalling that that you call someones life experience in to question without you ever letting us question your experience.

You liberals talk about experience, what does Barrack Obama have? He was a State Senator, won US Senate and 134 days later ran for President. We don't want talk about Barrack Obama's experience though do we, it's all about change and hope. Talk about racism, what about Reverend Wright. Is that racism? Let's make a white hand look black, it's our best defense... You liberals like Jane Doe are a joke and have nothing to offer the public, so you attack someone for running for office. If you had so many things Jane Doe to say to Mr. Carlson, why didn't you and Mr. Johnson take him on in a debate? Can't get things done, what has Sheldon Johnson got done except for tax increases, spending the entire East Side budget allocation on the environment and voted to allow sex offenders to be let out of prison after two convictions.

Sheldon Johnson has got nothing done in eight years, I don't think David Carlson will be much worse than your precious green Sheldon. You call out a man that you don't rate holding his jock strap for, madam.

DJZ:

Quit lying!! You came on post number 14 and said "Fear the black man!" And later on you accused the republicans of courting the racists!!!

You helped bring race into this discussion! The problem with race:

Obama has been saying for months that the reason why people have voting against him is because he doesn't look like those presidents on money or "oh did you know he's black" So yes DJZ he has been using race and apparently you have been deaf to it being used.

I've heard countless stories this year on the news where somebody (including the president of my international union) say if we don't support Obama we're racists. Ed Rendelll didn't he support Hillary because he called the state that he is governor racists? You apparently have been deaf to it being used.

How about for a minute instead of Obama trying to convince me to vote for him for reasons than other "Oh he's black" Mind you that will be tough because he's wrong on taxes, judges, Iraq, federal spending, and ties to questionable people.

At least with Hillary Clinton we wouldn't have been tortured like this since June. I suppose instead we would've been called sexist.

I guess we've heard the last from you since you were the person lying and not me.

First of all I don’t think the hand on the mouth of the victim is that of an African American man, second of all it shouldn’t matter what color the man is. If the victim on this card was an African American female and the rapist was Caucasian, I highly doubt there would even be a discussion of race on this piece. The message on the piece is the most important thing, the fact that Sheldon Johnson, does not keep criminals who are likely to offend again in prison, and or allow the time needed for adequate rehabilitation. I think that as a community Eastsiders should start looking at the facts and not who they are use to or that Sheldon has a D next to his name on the ballot. Mr. Carlson may not have the experience of being in the house, but then again neither did Sheldon when he was voted in the first time, Carlson is simply being true to his local Eastsiders not to mention the community in which he was raised in.

Walter, keep on stroking yourself. I don't come on MDE and haven't seen anyone else come on here and call racism on people who don't vote for Obama. I would kill over right now if any of you boneheads were voting for Obama or Franken. Its not cause he's black, he's a Democrat and that has enough fodder for you.

Talking about race is not racism. Pointing out obvious racial concerns is not racist. Using negative stereotypes of race to drum up fear or anger is racist. That's what this mailing does. For all I know Carlson has a black wife. It doesn't change the willingness to tap into that. Knowing tha the moment someone points it out, white people will scream about being beat up on and called racists. Well, don't act like one and you should be fine.

Obama has yet to use his race at all and has avoided any negative excuses about race. You're paranoid and since you're a public employee, Chester would label you worthless as well. Go see the government shrink and talk about it.

What stories and comments have you listened to, including those from Obama, that says you're racist because you refuse to support him?

I assume we've heard the last from you and its too bad most Americans, real patriots who work hard for a living disagree with you.

DJZ:

First of all the person who introduced the country to Willie Horton in 1988 was Al Gore. Last time I looked he was a Democrat! So I guess that Al Gore is a racist. What other democrats are racists DJZ.

Who's that person you're describing in number 63. I thought your party endorsed Barrack Obama. He was a law lecturer for whatever law school he was teaching (not a professor) and if he was teaching garbage like the Supreme Court can order redistrubtion of wealth it shows that he doesn't care about the constituion making that education he got worthless.

Furthermore DJZ I am sick and tired of listening to stories (including the comments from Obama) that I'm a racist because I refuse to support Obama. I have lots of very good policy reasons to oppose Obama.

The fact that the man wants to use his race as a clutch shows he is unworthy to hold the honor of the office of President of the United States!

He has not worked in the past year because he is finishing up a degree. There are many students who do not work while attending college.
It is hilarious how you dismiss his years in the military as not real life experience. It is obvious that you are a left wing elitist that would probably come up with any excuse not to serve your country. The sad thing is that people like David fight for your freedom and your right to trash and bash patriots.

Chester says:
And yes, there are qualified blacks, just not “that one.”

Once again, I know some of your best friends are black any names of who is black that you think would be qualified.

I just want to know who would be more qualified than a U.S. Senator, who was also a State Legislator (a district bigger than a Congressional District), a teacher of the Law and Constitution at one the best schools in the world, an organizer, a top graduate from the best law school in the world, the editor in chief of the most widely read legal publication in the country, and a top of the class performing graduate of yet another Ivy League school, Columbia.

McCain? Who got into the Navel Academy based on quotas and set asides for children of graduates, who then graduated at the dead bottom of the class? A guy who after serving his country in uniform, never worked outside of government creating or protecting jobs? A guy who's never had to deal with the problems or ambitions of the middle class because between dad and grandpa, the government, and Cyndi, he's always been taken care of?

I'll take he SOB that had to earn everything he has, and that's not Grampie McBitch-Alot.

He's a hottie? Nice reason to vote for this guy.

The truth is he hasn't worked in more than a year and has not real experience outside of his service in the Marines which by the way is admirable. Serving does not make you qualified to run for office though, real life experience does. It's actually frightening to see many supporters of Dave. I'd encourage you to really get to know him and his views prior to Tuesday as you may regret voting for him should he happen to win. He will be totally ineffective in office if elected as he has no ability to work well with people of differing perspectives.

The Willie Horton ad wasn't race baiting no matter how much the racist Democrats want to pretend it was. Neither was the racial quota ad.

Democrats clearly can't have an honest debate without playing the race card. It's grown quite old.

And yes, I know that the most unprepared, ignorant, socialist extremist, EEOC candidate is probably going to be President. And yes, there are qualified blacks, just not "that one."

If it weren't for race quotas, Barak would still be failing to organize the South Side.

The Willie Horton ad wasn’t race baiting no matter how much the racist Democrats want to pretend it was. Neither was the racial quota ad.

Democrats clearly can’t have an honest debate without playing the race card. It’s grown quite old.

Comment number 44?

Its OK? Why because you choose to ignore it? If you were a black guy, would you have that luxury? No.

If your fellow republican, #44, runs a Joe the Plumber small business, you think any black that walks in when he's hiring would get a fair chance if this is his viewpoint? Hell no. That's racism in effect.

Don't know Mr Carlson. I do know Saint Paul. I am familiar with race baiting ads. Willie Horton, and the mother of all, Jesse Helms racial quota ad. This is not going to fly on the Eastside. Have you forgotten who's the state senator? Mee Moua. When Mahoney ran against her the first time, it was Sheldon's half of the district that carried her. The brown and black votes. Carlson get a gold star if he gets to 38%.

The question for you guys as Swiftee admits to the chagrin of gopgal, you get racists. They feel comfortable comeing here and making jokes because no one calls them on it. As long as they vote Republican.

Chester, that EEOC candidate is going to be the next president. Just for shits and giggles, is there any back person who could have run on any ticket that you would think to be qualified?

Oh EEOC? Try Sarah Palin.

Oh, and Hayduke?

I've got it on very good authority that there are at least a dozen guys around town that used the exact same method...worked every time.

In fact, word on the street is that the entire Vikings defensive line walked after the jury had a look at her.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Why do you say that, Hayduke? You got DWI issues?

Well, here's a tip, assnozzle: Bring your sister to court with you, tell the judge that's what you woke up next to and throw yourself at the mercy of the court.

Try this:

"Just look at this piece of meat. Surely you can see that I had to get the hell out of there before dawn, yerhonner!

Worked for me! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

1) That's not a black guys hand
2) I find it funny that some on here would even care what color the guys hand is since it's completely irrelevant
3) To suggest that Dave Carlson, a born and raised East Sider and a product of the St. Paul Public Schools and Johnson High School, doesn't know what the interests of the people on the East Side are and some guy from Braham does is hilarious.

The East Side has long been a place where Democrats get by just by being Democrats and people vote for them just because of the letter next to their name on the ballot. Unfortunately, I doubt that changes this year.

I think people are calling him names because they're scared of him. He's by FAR the most attractive man in politics, he's very bright, young, and he has a great attitude. I had a class with him at the U and found that he is smart, kind and very polite; he comes off as a very likable guy. He held the door for me and my friends countless times, and I can say that is a rarity in college now a days.

Liberals don't want him in because he's young and represents change. He went to Johnson which is in the hood; hard to disguise racist feelings in that type of environment. Old men don't want him in because it makes them look even older, and he is a Marine who had a really big gun! Something most of our politicians know nothing about...

If I could tell him one thing it would be thank you for your service in the Marines, and for fighting for us in Iraq. My friends and I all have a bet on who will get to take him out first and pick him up, he's a hottie!

I hope David Carlson runs for a higher office very soon, I would like to be able to vote for someone who has a pair of balls for once. The guy has a picture with him and a 50. Cal machine gun on his website. Everyone wants change, and when a guy steps up and goes for it he is called a racist for pointing out an opponents appalling vote against children of Minnesota. I sent him $200 through pay pal today, I encourage all of you to support Carlson; that aren't flaming liberals...

I drove through his district recently and I have never seen so many signs in one area in all my life. He has more than Barack Obama for God's sake! And some signs are not in "traditionally white" areas, I wonder if blacks that have signs for him think he is a racist, his sign is next to Obama's in at least 15 yards!

I hope he kicks Sheldon's ass on Tuesday, we need a true middle class guy representing all of us around the state who aren't part of either parties elite.

DJZ:

Obama and Biden can't agree on the definition of rich. There are clips its $250,000, $200,000, and $150,000. Why trust him?

Furthermore just one week before the general election we're finally learning the truth of what Obama really stands for.

Besides race works both ways! Obama and his supporters are being racists because they claim if they don't vote for Obama you're the racist.

I thought this was a free country and we should vote for what we will like (oh I forgot your party is the one that doesn't want free election for organizing unions).

DJZ you're a racist with the logic you're using and we shouldn't listen to racists!

It’s pretty obvious that’s not a black guy’s hand for one reason: Wedding ring.

There you are. What took you so long Adolph?

ChesterNut, this is what I'm talking about. You've got a lot of people on your fringe who believe its a pass to make racist comments or even actions.

That's why its irresponsible. I don't know why he voted against it. He is a corrections officer and that is not usually equated with 'soft on crime'.

You're wrong on economics, most Americans trust Democrats on that. Its why Barack is winning.

The Aryans are going to continue to be a problem this election season, however, republicans may get a boost in the vote as they will be voting.

Has anyone tried to explain why Sheldon Johnson was one of a handful of Minnesota lawmakers to oppose life in prison without parole for violent sex offenders?

Right... easier to play the race card than defend an indefensible vote.

The East Side has the highest concentration of sex offenders anywhere in Minnesota. I'm glad Carlson is talking about the issues that will make a "quality of life" difference for Eastsiders.

Say Cheeto boy? Where does the constitution say that the public schools must bend over and grab their ankles for a trade labor union?

It's right there next to where it says that the court should rule in favor of redistribution of wealth. Obama 3:16

DJZ:

Thank you for raising the issue of the earned income tax credit. This is a perfect example of what is wrong with the Federal Government let alone the state government.

The sole purpose of the earned income tax credit at the time it was created was to not penalize the lowest income earners because social security taxes were raised. It was met that even though you worked and pay social security taxes if you didn't make much you didn't really pay your social security taxes. Yet lawmakers want to expand on that concept not because a tax has been raised to hurt the poor, but because members of the legislative branch want to be seen giving money away to people. Vote for me I get you a check of $1,000. vote for me again I'll get you a check of $1,500. Don't worry I'll fund it by taking money from being I call rich and even if every single one of them vote against me there are more people who want that check who will vote for me.

The founding fathers are rolling over in their
graves with what people want to do in the name of fairness.

As for Mccain's tax credit on health care since the government is interferring with health care any way the idea is to allow the individual to go out and buy the policy. The problem with business plans is that you can't select a policy tailored to your needs. Have you seen that progressive commercial where the customer wants to taylor her policy and she does it in her commercial. Mccain also makes it part of his policy that if you live in Minnesota if you can find a company in Wisconsin for example that will give you a plan that fits your needs you can get it.

Obama and the Democrats move the opposite. The government runs it and the government dictates even more the coverage.

Say Cheeto boy? Where does the constitution say that the public schools must bend over and grab their ankles for a trade labor union?

Where does it say that the state is required to pay a teacher with a miserable record the same salary as a teacher that is working his\her ass off to do a good job?

Where does it say that the school districts have to send taxpayer dollars to a lefty PAC?

Where does it say that "public education" means sending 46% of it's students out to the streets without a diploma?

Where does it say that, you asshole?

STFU you fat, ignorant bufoon. Just sit there and stuff Cheeto's into your gob and wank your way through all the gay porn the internet has to offer.

DJZ - you stupid pile of fascist dog shit, you DO realize that if you scream "racism" every time you see something, eventually nobody will listen, right?

That's pretty much where we're at now. Your belly-aching about imaginary racism has rendered your cries meaningless... kinda like your life.

What, you offended because the ad points out the truth that Democrats are soft on law enforcement... the same way their soft on national security... the same way their soft on economic policy... etc., etc., etc.

You're a dumb pile of fascist shit, Ziggy.

That’s why Erik Paulsen went from Majority Leader, to getting beat by a political novice.

I'm sorry, I am unfamiliar with an election Paulsen's lost to ANYONE. Care to provide information on that race?

Good for you Tanya. Others have a big problem with it. The tension on the Eastside between whites and the minority populations is pretty high. Putting a piece out like this is just another example of the republicans no giving a shit about the appearance of racism or, ignoring it because they don't understand race.

Mail and images like this do nothing but fuel the nutcakes in society. I know Brodkorb understands that.

And for the closer: Only one caucus invited a sex offender to their fold and made him a legislator. That would be Dick Borrell, republican from far west Hennepin county in 2002.

When it comes down to it, they will take racists and sex offenders to win a majority.

The education system has more than enough money. The problem is in how those in charge elect to waste their budgets.
