COLEMAN FOR U.S. SENATE PRESS RELEASE: “AL FRANKEN’S DFL PARTY CHAIR HURLS PERSONAL ATTACK AGAINST SENATOR NORM COLEMAN”
By Michael Brodkorb | November 1, 2008
ST. PAUL – Today, at a rally in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, Minnesota Democratic Party Chair, Brian Melendez, viciously and personally attacked United States Senator Norm Coleman by calling him a “lying sack of crap.”
Coleman for Senate Campaign Manager, Cullen Sheehan, issued the following statement after the attack was published in the Saint Cloud Times.
“It’s clear the personal contempt that Al Franken and Minnesota’s DFL Party Chair have for Senator Norm Coleman and his family. However, at a time when the Senator has continued to wage a positive, issues-oriented campaign, Al Franken and his Democratic allies have stooped to a new low. We again call on Al Franken to call off his attacks, to rein in the vicious personal attacks against the Senator’s wife and to completely condemn the outrageous attacks of his key ally, DFL Party Chair Brian Melendez.”
Al Franken’s DFL Party Chair Hurls Personal Attack Against Senator Norm Coleman:
“Talking about two recently filed lawsuits alleging that a friend and donor to U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman improperly directed money to the Coleman’s wife’s employer, [DFL Party Chair Brian] Melendez said he was angered by Coleman’s efforts to paint the issue as something Franken and the DFL cooked up. He directed his ire at Coleman personally. ‘What a lying sack of crap!’ Melendez said, referring to Coleman. ‘You can quote me on that.’”   (Lawrence Schumacher, “DNC chairman stumps in St. Cloud, state party leader gets fiery,” St. Cloud Times, November 1, 2008)

Has Mr. Melendez taken a good look at his field of candidates. Were he to do so, he would see half a dozen lying sacks of crap. Heck, he’d see a big lying sack of crap also if he gazed in the mirror.

The lie isn’t necessarily in Coleman’s denial. He might be telling the truth in denying the allegations. Too soon to know. What is more sure is that he accuses Franken of being behind the lawsuit. If he said he suspects it, fine. But when he makes the accusation, he has not one shred of evidence, which to my mind makes it a lie. The plaintiff of the first lawsuit says he’s a Republican who donated to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, and that he never heard of Coleman. Maybe he’s lying, but so far there’s nothign but suspicion to call him a liar.
Besides, when Coleman resorted to calling this an attack on his family when clearly the allegations are against him, that seemed cheap and suspicious.

I hate when someone uses profanity when he could have just called him a plain flat out liar. It’s rude and not necessary, albeit true.

Here’s the list of news organizations that say there’s not a shred of evidence Team Franken had anything to do with The Texan’s lawsuit: AP, Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, WCCO, MinnPost, KMSP, and KARE.
Ol’ Smokescreen is a lying sack of shit.

Here’s a list of news organizations too biased to trust and too lazy to have investigated the rock solid connections between Franken and this bullshit law suit:
AP, Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, WCCO, MinnPost, KMSP, and KARE.
