PRESS EVENT: MN GOP CALLS ON STAR TRIBUNE TO EXPLAIN ROLE IN DSCC ATTACK ADS
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 2, 2008

I’m at the Republican Party of Minnesota’s press event about the Star Tribune’s involvement in the DSCC attack ad against U.S. Senator Norm Coleman. This is a solid press event, as the MN GOP has passed out conflicting statements from the management from the Star Tribune’s as to what and when they received information about the lawsuit.
Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

Why didn’t the DFL and the MN GOP have a joint press conference on this one? I think we’re all asking these questions.
Considering the reporters on the story never saw those documents:
So who at the Star Tribune is helping the Coleman campaign by sitting on these documents and allowing Coleman to create this bizarre link? Coleman even put it in his attack ad!
Also, the DSCC and the Star Tribune had no role collaborating in this. In fact, the Star Tribune condemns the use of their reporters in the DSCC piece.
The real question here: why were those two reporters yelling out the story in front of all the rolling cameras from the media (as well as trackers)? They basically gave their story to the world right there!
This is a story that has been worked on, not just by the Star Tribune but by many for a long time. Even Norm Coleman admits this story’s being worked on as early as October 10th.
So yeah, I’m curious why there’s this whole Star Tribune envelope story, especially because Coleman uses it in his attack ad. Weird, isn’t it?
Seems like a planted distraction from the actual allegations.

I love to see Norm spend his final days defending his level of corruption rather than talking to the people about why they should vote for him (despite said corruption).

What are they accusing the Star Tribune of? Huh? This is the same paper that just endorsed Coleman, isn’t it?

If Norm wanted to make sure this wasn’t an 11th hour surprise in the campaign, why didn’t he come clean about it weeks ago? And what’s this about Laurie Coleman being a licensed insurance agent? I thought she sold Blo-and-Go, or was an “actress,” or something.

MinnyDem, how is a person supposed to come clean about something he didn’t know about? So, if you aren’t clairvoyant you should go to jail or be tossed out of office? I’d also like to know how ambitious you and your circle of friends are, if you are shocked that a person can have several jobs and hopes.

The DSCC’s roll in Norm’s lawsuit?!
How about laughter that they just have to sit back and watch it play out?!
Anybody buy any insurance from Laurie lately???

Norm never answered the question in the debate about whether he had proof of Franken’s or the DFL’s involvement in his legal troubles. That’s because he’s lying about that and he can’t offer proof. Norm knew this was coming and mentioned it almost a month ago. He could have dealt with it then. The jig’s up, Norm. You and Teddy Stevens will make nice cellmates.
