THE CASE OF DAVID LILLEHAUG AND THE MYSTERIOUS 461 ABSENTEE BALLOTS IN HENNEPIN COUNTY

By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 12, 2008

Since Team Franken’s attorney attempted to “stuff new ballots into the ballot box” in Hennepin County, I’ve been trying to figure out how David Lillehaug came up with the mysterious 461 absentee ballots:

“Attorney David Lillehaug asked the Hennepin County canvassing board to reconsider 461 absentees that he said had been improperly rejected.

Lillehaug said some of the ballots were disqualified on the grounds that signatures didn’t match, or that the voter wasn’t properly registered. Lillehaug says the campaign knows at least some of those ballots to be valid.

The general counsel for the Minnesota Republican Party, Matthew Haapoja (HAP’-poy-uh), says that the Franken campaign is trying to find more votes where there are none.” Source: Associated Press, November 10, 2008

If you know more about Lillehaug’s mysterious 461 absentee ballots, please leave a comment.  County offices are closed for the evening, so I’ll have to make calls tomorrow morning seeking comment.

Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

Since Team Coleman’s attorney attempted to “pull legal votes out of the ballot box” in Hennepin County, I’ve been trying to figure out how Fritz Knaak came up with the mysterious 461 absentee ballots:

“Attorney Fritz Knaak asked the Hennepin County canvassing board to reject the votes of 461 residents of Hennepin County that he said had been mistakenly accepted.

Knaak said some of the ballots were questionable due to the county of origin, Hennepin, is known to be a democratic hotbed, or because they were assumed to be cast against the sitting Senator. Knaak wanted them all thrown out because he was certain at least some of them could potentially not be valid.

The general counsel for the Minnesota DFL Party, Alan Weinblatt (WEIN’-bla-tt), says that the Coleman campaign is trying to find less votes where there are plenty.” Source: Press Association, November 10, 2008

If you know more about Knaak’s mysterious 461 absentee ballots, please leave a comment. County offices are closed for the evening, so I’ll have to make calls tomorrow morning before making up more lies.

Lillehaug tried to pull a fast one by hastily jamming rejected ballots into the election count. HE should be disbarred.

I agree totally. Fritz Knaak SHOULD be disbarred.

It’s pretty clear what Michael is asking.

How did Lillehaug know there were 461 rejected ballots? Did Senator Coleman’s attorneys have access to this information as well? Is this public information or are some “nonpartisan” election officials trying to help Franken find more votes?

    These are all fair questions.

    Raooow…cat fight!

Tell the truth, Feckless, you’re just pissed because Sarah looks great in Karan and your thighs are cheesy…it’s that time of the month for you, isn’t it, Jeffy?

    Retaining water…

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  12. Kyle Says:
    November 13th, 2008 at 11:12 AM

It is a fair question to ask how the Franken campaign got access to 461 rejected ballots, and then to have reason to say that they “know” anything about the rejected ballots “legitimacy.”

That was either the stupidest bluff I’ve ever heard, or a clear signal that the Franken campaign is getting insider help from the election board office.

As a non-Minnesotan, this process has already begun to look like a certain Florida race I recall. I hope Minnesota, traditionally civic minded and with a reputation for fair-mindedness cleans up the process in 2010.
