NYT: “MINNESOTA SENATE RIVALS DIG IN FOR RECOUNT BATTLE”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 14, 2008

“In a statement on Wednesday, the Coleman campaign cited ‘concerns about’ Mr. Ritchie’s ‘ability to act as an unbiased official.’

So did Katherine Kersten of The Minneapolis Star Tribune, whose column tracing Mr. Ritchie’s ties to liberal Democratic groups quickly became the most-viewed item on the newspaper’s Web site.

A Republican researcher from Eagan, Michael Brodkorb, 34, posted on his blog a photograph of Mr. Ritchie standing behind a Franken sign. Mr. Brodkorb said the photograph was taken at a Democratic event earlier this year. ‘I’m very, very concerned,’ he said.

At a news conference Wednesday, Mr. Ritchie responded to the accusations, telling reporters that when he took the oath of office, he shed partisan biases and became “a servant of the people of Minnesota.”

The conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity is not so sure. ‘Fishy business’ is going on in Minnesota, Mr. Hannity told listeners last week, with Democrats and election officials “up to no good.”

Noah Rouen, 34, and his buddies swore off political talk on a pheasant hunt last weekend, but when they heard that 32 absentee ballots favoring Mr. Franken were not counted until days later, after they had been found locked in a Minneapolis elections office, they could not help but hatch a conspiracy theory.

On Tuesday morning, Mr. Rouen logged onto Facebook and updated his status: ‘Noah is looking for Coleman ballots in his car.’” Source: New York Times, November 14, 2008

Fritz Knaak, a “new gun with a shiny pistol.” I like that – better than the stale garbage that Leroy Jenkins puts out.

Amazing that they happened to find Noah, who was sued by Franken for being behind the bogus Employee Free Choice ads that were run against him. What an amazing coincidence that he would have an opinion on yet another republican lie.

better than the stale garbage that Leroy Jenkins puts out.

Now that the election is over they’ve stopped faxing the talking points to Leroy and Brown Shirt. This means they’re left writing their own material and clearly they’re not exactly brilliant in that area.

Has Ritchie ever addressed his ties to MoveOn.org and their claims that they put him in office to assist Democrats get elected in swing states?

Has Coleman yet released a statement on the fact that the judge ruled that Franken calling him the fourth most corrupt senator was NOT a lie?

    Al Franken is a genius.

His judgement to run against Ole Smokescreen was magnificent, and bodes well for his re-election in 2012.

  7. John F Not Kerry Says:

Uh, danbrome, the seat would be up again in 2014. And I didn’t even major in math.

Michael, you’re only 34? You look older. Not that that’s bad!

  9. danbrome Says:

Sean Hannity is a babbling fool, incapable of objective thought. At least he knows it and laughs at himself often on the show, he has a good sense of humor.

Oh by the way, Sean knows as much about Minnesota as Erik Paulsen knows about honor, NOTHING!

    John F;

You got me there, and I AM A MATHEMATICS MAJOR!!!!

Hey Michael, do you expect Richie to wear a fishing hat and 10 Coleman buttons or what?

    Then would you be concerned?

    Get real.

I listened to the last part of Ritchie’s bit on NPR today, and I think he said almost all of the right things. (And, for all I know, he may have addressed my big issue in this before I tuned in.)

I don’t think there’s any question that, as a candidate and before, Ritchie was a partisan, liberal DFLer. The issue, though, is whether he’s conducted and is conducting himself properly and ethically in his present gig. He screwed up with the email thing, sure, but that was a relatively small thing.

Particularly when compared with overseeing the recount, with so much at stake.

He’s done very well, IMHO, on the two big phony stories: the ballots in the car, and the disenfranchised old lady. He’s been critical of those who have spread both those stories, and moreso of the Republican side rather than the DFL side. Which is fair, if (as he says it is) it’s the case that the Franken campaign has backed off of and apologized for its story, while the Coleman camp has not. I think, perhaps, he should be a little more generous to the Republicans, as the ballots in the car story appears to have arisen from a misunderstanding, rather than a fabrication.

But he hasn’t addressed the big issue. It seems that at least almost all of the ledger/typo corrections have resulted in a gain for Franken, and, as John Lott has documented, the supposed corrected errors favoring Franken are greater than the sum of all the corrected errors in the Presidential race, the House race, and that State House races combined.

Now, there could be some sort of innocent explanation for that, but if there is one, I haven’t seen it. It does seem to be a strange coincidence.

I’d like to know why that is.

because the SOS is a partisan hack, put in place by George Soros, and Moveon. and he is trying his hardest to steal the election
