TEAM FRANKEN ISSUES GAG ORDER ON VOLUNTEERS AT RECOUNT LOCATIONS
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 20, 2008

While Bill Starr, a recount attorney for Team Franken, provided some rather shocking comments yesterday about the make-up of Franken voters, Team Franken has issued a gag order for their volunteers at recount locations.

That didn’t stop him from saying out loud what many people in Minnesota are probably thinking.” Source: St. Cloud Times, November 20, 2008

It’s what they do. They still haven’t ripped the duct tape off the Accountant.

Speaking of “gag orders”, watch Cullen Sheehan makin’ a complete idiot of himself:

I love how when Franken does it, it is a gag order, but Norm doing the exact same thing is not an issue.
I will refer you to the MinnPost article where Mr. Starr was quoted…
“Even the observers and lawyers have been instructed by their respective campaigns to not talk to the media”
So, your point here again is?

Leroy, just another example of:
“Hypocrisy, thy party is GOP”

Michael, this is a total OUTRAGE! This disgusting, however clearly important, piece of treachery needs to be passed on not only to the local, but the national media. I can’t believe that the Franken campaign is willing to go this far. This is an awful dirty trick and we can not let it go unpunished.
Come on, this is standard operating procedure for ANY campaign. I’m sure you can imagine why you wouldn’t want just anybody who is representing the campaign as a volunteer to talk to the press.
Please let us know when you have some REAL news for us. Anything that actually has any meaning would be much appreciated. A tip may be to keep your eye on the ball instead of chasing down low level “news stories” like this one. Thank you.

If they had put a gag order on Franken, they would have won.

“If they had put a gag order on Franken, they would have won.”
Linus,
In case you hadn’t heard, nobody was declared the winner in the Senate race. For one, this would mean that nobody had lost either. Also, don’t worry, Al Franken should have this race wrapped up in no time at all and he will be sworn in as our next Senator soon.
On a different note, it occurs to me that there was never a story run on this blog about the “gag order” that was put on Erik Paulsen by his staff during his campaign for the 3rd district. Honestly, did he ever tell us where he stood on a single issue that was actually important to a family living in the 3rd district? Iraq? Health care? The economy? I know we heard all about why we shouldn’t vote for Ashwin Madia (the candidate who is “not one of usâ€, does not coach soccer, is a liar (about what we’re not sure, but if we just keep saying it, it should come true), might be gay, (how man 30 year old guys are single?), and has a scary name) and why his plans were flawed, but did we ever find out what Erik Paulsen would do differently? Seems to me that the “gag order” placed on Paulsen by his staff worked out just fine.
Although Ashwin Madia was the clearly better candidate, talking about this issues and how he would bring real change to this country didn’t win him the election (unfortunately). So that being said, lets face facts, it would appear that not saying anything at all will get you further than saying what you believe (in this election cycle anyhow).

Is it funny for a hate-filled comedian to issue a “gag order.”
Seems kinda funny to me.

For that matter, it’s kinda funny to hear that a hate-filled comedian who specializes in rape and oral sex jokes to issue a “gag order.”

Chestnut-
I will assume you have never engaged, or would ever dream of engaging in such an offensive and outrageous act as ORAL SEX…right?
Come on, can’t we just get past the hype in one race? I mean, the race IS over right? No more votes are going to be cast? There isn’t like a do-over for people to add more votes to the totals, right? (In your answer, please refrain from telling me about the fraud that the Franken campaign and its allies are surely planning to wage during the recount). Why does it seem that you want to continue the same old tired talking points that haven’t worked for you all cycle in this race?
I would also be curious to know, if you are such a proud Coleman supporter, if you are volunteering for his recount effort…or is this just another “hide in my basement at a computer” argument from one of the upstanding ReBublicans on MNDE?
*NOTE* Chestnut, before you start to type and call me a liar and a fuck or any of the other vulgar language you choose to use when posting here (language that when used by Franken is an outrage, but when used by you is a-ok), let me save you some time. I am a Democrat, and as you have so eloquently proven time and again to us, I am already well aware, as is everyone else who posts here, that being a Democrat makes me those things. Let’s see something new…like a coherent argument.

According to MDE:
“MDE Senate Race 2008, Recount Update. . . ”
MDE [yellow letters, black background]
Senate race 2008 [white letters, black background]
Recount Update… [white letters, red background]
MN GOP Chairperson, Ron Carey, spent his the day of his Wedding Anniversary at the 2008 DFL State Convention in Rochester, MN.
It seems to me that if the State GOP Leader seems to be a tad semi-bizzare on his Wedding Anniversary, asking Chestnut for a coherent argument might be expecting too much.

Integrity,
I volunteered for the re-count and went to a “training session.” We (Coleman supporters) were never told not to talk to the media. We were told that if we were approached by the media to represent Senator Coleman in a civil and respectful way. However, if we did not want to talk to the media, we could simply refer the media to the floor leader at the re-count site. I can understand why Frankin felt it necessary to put a gag order on his supporters since most of them are barely literate and incapable of editing their foul language.
Coleman supporters are obviously more educated and understand civility.
