COLEMAN FOR US SENATE PRESS RELEASE: “COLEMAN CAMPAIGN WITHDRAWS 650 BALLOT CHALLENGES, REACHES OUT TO FRANKEN CAMPAIGN TO COME TOGETHER TO FURTHER REDUCE NUMBER OF CHALLENGED BALLOTS”
By Ryan Flynn | December 4, 2008

ST. PAUL – Today Fritz Knaak, lead recount counsel for the Coleman for Senate campaign, announced the Coleman campaign will withdrawing 650 ballot challenges this afternoon. Knaak also reached out to Al Franken’s lead recount counsel this morning, requesting a meeting to discuss how both campaigns can reach a mutual agreement to further reduce the number of challenged ballots that will be brought before the state’s canvassing board.
Knaak stated, “Today, in the spirit of working to remedy an excess of challenged ballots, we will voluntarily withdraw 650 challenged by the Coleman campaign. This morning, I left a voicemail, and sent an email, to Franken campaign attorney Marc Elias regarding challenged ballots. We are doing so this in the spirit of reaching out to their campaign so we can sit down early next week and discuss what process we can agree to in order to winnow down these challenged ballots. At the end of the day, our mutual goal and obligation ought to be the people of Minnesota and their representatives on the Canvassing Board, as well as local election officials, to find a spirit of cooperation to reduce the number of challenged ballots to a true and meaningful number that can be fairly evaluated by the Canvassing Board.â€

Coleman campaign should take the lead and not wait on Franken. Withdraw more challenges daily. The PR battle is important to win as Minnesotans are already suspicious of the Franken recount strategy and sincerity.
December 4th, 2008 at 1:32 PM
ahem, Franken already withdrew over 600 challenges. You keep confusing the truth with MDE. The withdrawals talked about here WERE IN RESPONSE to Franken’s. See, Team Franken is the one showing leadership, here. Coleman merely follows the leader.
Here, from ‘your’ attorney:
“”Knaak said today’s announcement came after Coleman personally instructed him to take the action, and was in part a response to Franken’s withdrawals.”"
Coleman can’t withdraw all his frivolous challenges, that would put him behind, and we wouldn’t want the voters to decide this election, now, would we. He’ll continue to follow the leader and tit for tat with Franken to keep his padded lead where it is.

Good to see Coleman doing the right thing in this case, don’t bet on Franken reciprocating. Franken will rival Gore’s Florida stunt before this is all over.
December 4th, 2008 at 1:57 PM
yeah you know what we should do is just get them to withdrawl all the challanged votes…then we would be right back where we started with coleman winning by a sliver and the people of minnesota not getting their respected votes counted…no matter how they filled out their ballots. its one thing to conceed to some ballots that both sides can agree to disreguard if theres no way to tell the ballots intended candidate or its clearly one or the other but come on…really what aare we doing a recount for if some ballots results arent going to be scrutanized
December 4th, 2008 at 1:58 PM
Flash, please explain why “Coleman can’t withdraw all his frivolous challenges, that would put him behind”. You make no sense son.
December 4th, 2008 at 2:30 PM
Flash is spot on. Congrats!
Let Franken get busy building his senate staff ASAP, for the good of the people.

Another headline that would be equally as accurate:
“Following flight from London to Minneapolis, Delta Airlines CEO urges Wright brothers to invent plane.”
December 4th, 2008 at 3:03 PM
danbrome – you cannot claim to be a moderate Democrat and support Franken. Dumb shit.
December 4th, 2008 at 3:05 PM
“Leroy” – wtf? What the hell can you find wrong in asking Franken to get together to “futher reduce number of challenged ballots”. You are a double dumb shit.
December 4th, 2008 at 3:19 PM
Its funny because Franken already asked to have 633 Challenges Removed. Go to the bottom of the SOS results page and read the *:
“* These totals do not include results for 633 challenged ballots that were withdrawn by the Al Franken campaign.”
Its good to see the new “contributor” is just as competent as the old “contributor”.

“Let Franken get busy building his senate staff ASAP, for the good of the people.”
Sounds like that after the Madia disaster, Danno is desperate for somebody to give him a job.

Pete F;
You have proven one thing beyond the shadow of a doubt… and I mean ANY DOUBT.
You should not drink so much kool-aid.
Your ignorance is absolutely and incredibly astonishing!
December 4th, 2008 at 4:08 PM
Madia is solid as a rock. You need to be a little more honest about Ashwin.
Fire away!
December 4th, 2008 at 4:10 PM
Pete-
Why does Norm need to hold Al’s hand as he removes baseless challenges?
Al’s folks went through and cut out a bunch of frivolous challenges. They didn’t beg Norm to cut the same number, or to coordinate efforts. They cut frivolous challenges. And they will likely cut more.
The fact that Norm needs the cuts to be done in unison shows just how truly partisan and useless he has become.
December 4th, 2008 at 5:08 PM
Leroy, Hold Al’s hand? Because he is a frigging idiot. Damn you are dumb…
And I see you missed the Franken people challenging the Coleman people to do the same.
December 4th, 2008 at 5:10 PM
danbrome, thank you from proving my point. You are a dumb shit. You attack me but did not refute my statement. You are a partisan hack and in no way a moderate.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:11 PM
do the math DFL dipshits…Coleman wins wit hor without challenges….. Leroy..you are non sensical.
December 4th, 2008 at 11:08 PM
“you cannot claim to be a moderate Democrat and support Franken. Dumb shit.”
Who are you to tell me who I can and can’t support?
Like me, Al Franken is a moderate Democrat, ready to fight for the issues that mean the most to middle class families. Your statement confirms that you are either naive or just plain ignorant about Al Franken. Try learning about the candidates before you pass judgement on them and their supporters.
Al Franken has the heart of a lion, and will represent middle class values with distinction in the United States Senate.
December 4th, 2008 at 11:11 PM
Pete F… can you explain to the class what qualifies you to judge that I’m not a moderate Democrat? What the hell do you know about me and my positions on the issues? You know nothing about me, and it shows in your ignorant rants.
December 4th, 2008 at 11:14 PM
Maxus..
“do the math DFL dipshits…Coleman wins wit hor without challenges”
First of all, do you think that all DFL voters are dipshits? Please elaborate.
Second, what math are you using to make such a ridiculous statement. Do you know something the rest of us dipshits don’t?
What a stooge.
December 5th, 2008 at 12:57 AM
I can’t be the only one who thought of Freud when reading Maximus’ post about Coleman winning “wit hor”
December 5th, 2008 at 7:46 AM
dandrome – I have read many of your posts. That is what qualifies me to say you are not a moderate Democrat. You are a left wing DFL party hack who will support anything the DFL does (right or wrong) to help Frankn win.
db you are the ignorant one who frequently posts your left wing rants on MDE. Many of them void of facts.
I can’t wait for your even more ignorant response…
December 5th, 2008 at 9:30 AM
Good catch Leroy… but… why would Maxus spell whore incorrectly? Just curious…
December 5th, 2008 at 9:34 AM
Seriously, can you cite a single post of mine that would independently suggest I am a left wing DFL hack?
Please don’t cop out and say that my support of Senator Franken is your proof.
I am confident you won’t find anything to hang your hat on. Then you will realize that your accusations about me are a bit over the top.
Cut and paste something in reply so we can expose your ignorance. You think anything left of Erik Paulsen is a “left wing DFL hack”.
December 5th, 2008 at 9:35 AM
Pete… did Kyle put you up to this?
December 5th, 2008 at 10:26 AM
DB, anyone who comes across like you, tommy, leroy, and the rest of the far left wing idiots is a far left wing hack in my opinion. You, along with those boys, are some of the rudest individuals I have ever had the displeasure to “know”.
Cut and paste? How do you cut and paste someones rude and arrogant attitude?
You know what you are and people of your ilk do this crap just to maintain a heavily partisan divide. That is the ONLY way Democrats can rule – they must divide and conquer the masses in order to win. Its simple, the left keeps their supports down and dependent on them while spreading lies about the right. And you people know that…
December 5th, 2008 at 12:51 PM
Pete…
So since you can’t cite a specific example, should the reader conclude that you are dishonest?
I am rude? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
December 5th, 2008 at 1:22 PM
no danbrome, I am not a Democrat. Yes, you are rude. And ignorant. And apparently very willing to stay ignorant. It is people like you that the DFL loves.
You go ahead and laugh son. It is what people like you do well. Maybe someday you will want to get serious and take a good look at the world and what people of your ilk have in mind. Maybe even take into consideration other people instead of your own selfish interests.
Until then just sit back and have a good laugh son.
December 5th, 2008 at 3:43 PM
oh come on for gods sake i thought this was democrats exposed not “lets bitch about each other and see what new argument we can make about how the other guys sucks” stay on the issue or take boxing lessons to take out your frustrations …either way not here…
