COLEMAN RECOUNT UPDATE
By Ryan Flynn | December 23, 2008

I received the following memo this afternoon:
To: Interested Parties
From: Mark Drake, Communications Director
Date: December 23, 2008
Re: Inconsistencies in How Ballots Were Allocated
In response to requests from the media and public for the ballots we brought to the State Canvassing Board as inconsistently counted for Coleman and Franken, we have recently posted some of those ballots on our website.
While we have great respect for the long, difficult work that has been done by the canvassing board throughout this process, we remain concerned about the hasty dismissal of our concerns today.  In an election that is this breathtakingly close, such inconsistencies matter to the overall credibility of the count. As the ballots will show you, there have clearly been some inconsistencies in how these ballots were allocated.
You can view the ballots on our campaign’s blog here.

The bias has become so obvious they’re no longer even trying to hide it. With such inconsistencies, along with the House DFL not allowing a video feed (with the bogus “we’re going to be in session soon so we can’t do this…” excuse) so as to cover up from the general public their bias, this needs to go to court. This “canvassing board” was biased from the beginning and now it’s clear to all who are concerned about fairness.

Average Joe..
Six years is not really that long… Norm may very well try to get his seat back in 2014. I look forward to the campaign.
December 23rd, 2008 at 4:17 PM
Or Angry Al can buy another house here and move back to try again.
December 23rd, 2008 at 4:33 PM
Why would Al be angry if he just won a seat in the United States Senate?
Oh, you mean he WAS angry before Ritchie stole the election for him, I see.
Nevermind!
December 23rd, 2008 at 5:03 PM
So Average Joe – the Republican controlled Canvassing Board and Republican appointed Supreme Court are biased for Franken?
How? Exactly? Specifics?
December 23rd, 2008 at 5:15 PM
So…..is this the same Canvassing Board that is constituted of Republican Supreme Court justices? Just wondering…..
Why would Republican Supreme Court justices want to steal an election for Al Franken? Maybe, just maybe, it’s about counting real votes….whoever wins.
December 23rd, 2008 at 5:25 PM
Nice! I can’t believe they dismissed it. That’s alright. We’ll just object to each and every allocation on the legitimate grounds it is not consistent.
LadyBelle,
Magnuson said he can’t remember what he voted that morning let alone the previous day. Fatigue may be a factor. Working with Mark Ritchie …

Based on the ballots that are shown on Norm’s website, I’d be curious for the explanation as to why the votes for Franken were counted and the votes for Coleman were not. Maybe Al wins anyway, but I’m awfully hard pressed to see why the Coleman votes in question were rejected if the Franken votes passed muster. That was the point about having consistent standards, right?
December 23rd, 2008 at 6:43 PM
I am a partisan Republican have watched most of the canvassing board proceedings, including today. Nothing that I have seen indicates that this election is being stolen. It is just a very, very close election.
The canvassing board has been transparent and public. They should not be scapegoats. However, I am very worried about the courts. The decision last week to have the campaigns to have veto power over what rejected absentees will be counted is just asinine.
December 23rd, 2008 at 6:45 PM
How? Exactly? Specifics?
ACORN Richie. One guy’s a Carlson appointment, hardly a Republican. Gearin’s a nutjob.
Next.
Please, votes for Norm are called for Angry Al – even when the whole circle is filled in for Norm and not even an ink dot near Al.
Anyone with half a brain sees the bias.

I am a partisan Republican have watched most of the canvassing board proceedings, including today.
How exactly did you watch this today?
December 23rd, 2008 at 7:16 PM
You can view the ballots on our campaign’s blog here.
your campaign huh Flynn? does that mean you are a paid blogger by the Coleman campaign or MNGOP?
I think you need to explain that fopaux….
December 23rd, 2008 at 7:22 PM
Average Joe – It was online, MPR and a Lefty site whose name I can’t remember.
December 23rd, 2008 at 7:29 PM
Yoni, read the entire post again. He’s reprinting a press release.
December 23rd, 2008 at 7:33 PM
Hey Fat Boy Brodkorb. Or should I say Broadass. You getting nervous?
Your boy is going down and with it all your exclusive senate influence.
Have a good holiday season Nazi.

John Hinderaker of PowerLineBlog nails the duplicate ballot issue that was argued today at the Supreme Court. http://bit.ly/mrcC

sorry, thanks for pointing that out for me.
December 23rd, 2008 at 11:21 PM
Yoni, since you leftists are so eager to prove that Republicans are all idiots, I’d like to point out that it is not “fopaux”, but rather “faux pas”, which is French for “false step”. I hate to disillusion you, but this particular Republican “idiot” can handle a few foreign languages and had absolutely no trouble joining Mensa. Thank you for your patronizing attitude.
December 24th, 2008 at 5:49 AM
Yoni can’t spell and neither can Nancy Bromelkamp. Even if they could spell they’d still be idiots, especially Bromelkamp – she’s even more of a dumbass than Ashley Madia.
December 24th, 2008 at 6:21 AM
Not sure where I called you an idiot Mark, and thanks for making sure we all know how smart you are.
December 24th, 2008 at 6:22 AM
spell check, who are those ladies?
December 24th, 2008 at 9:22 AM
Ballots with the exact same marks are not being counted the exact same way.
The board started out being real sticklers with a tendency to reject any ballot that was questionable. They started with Franken challenges, so this worked against Coleman.
As time went on, they started leaning toward finding a way to count ballots instead of rejecting them. This favored Franken because at that time they were doing Coleman challenges.
They never had a standard and decided each ballot by whim which eventually led to kind of a liberal “de facto standard”. BUT, this liberal standard was mostly applied to Coleman challenges, which helped Franken.
I think that if they had done the challenges is a different order, there would be a different result.
The real problem is the arrogance of the board in not fixing blatant inconsistencies that arose out of their standard-less approach.
Of course, the public now has no clue what the board is doing because Mark Ritchie and the DFL decided to stop the cameras and make this process secret. There is simply no honest answer as to why they would do that.
December 24th, 2008 at 9:24 AM
Yoni, when a flock of birds flies over me and I get crapped on, my first impulse is to get angry, not determine exactly which particular bird or birds did the dirty deed. You have been part of a very annoying chorus of leftists who have been hurling insults at anyone and anything Republican. You might not have actually used the term “idiot”, but several of your fellows have, and worse. They have also boasted of being brighter than Republicans. It is frustrating to be subjected to so many attacks, so broadly fired, from anonymous people who cannot be held to account. I generally don’t mention such things as my membership in Mensa. But I do bring it up when I have been personally or generally attacked and the subject of relative intelligence has come up.
I would ask my fellow Republicans to please restrain themselves in their replies, despite the intense frustration. I’m not a fan of Jerry Springer-style politics.

Keep It Simple is right on this one. Avvery good post. Good work.
December 24th, 2008 at 12:35 PM
I am only critical of the hypocrisy which comes out of the mouths/fingers of your brethren, and the lies and falls stories/accusations which come from the moderators of this blog.
I attack stupidity and ignorance Mark and will continue to attack it. I am sorry if you feel the need to include yourself in that group, I personally don’t think you belong in that group, but you feel the need to include yourself anyways.
If any of these allegations of inconsistencies in vote tallying, double counted votes, and claims of a conspiracy by the Canvassing board to elect Franken can be proven, i’d be less vocal. But if Flynn and MBB keep writing these lies and you and your comrades keep lapping it up, then I will continue to attack it.
December 24th, 2008 at 1:23 PM
Yoni. You prove once again that you walk around blinded by the liberal left and can not see anything or think for yourself. It is obvious when there are identical issues with a ballot one is awarded to Franken but another that should go to Senator Coleman is thrown out.
It is people like you that keep me from even considering voting for a Democrat. People of your ilk represent the Democrat party. No morals. No standards. Will do anything no matter how wrong it is to win.
You describe yourself in post #26 and until people like you realize that you are part of the problem there will be no solution.
Merry Christmas.
December 25th, 2008 at 7:15 AM
There’s an incredible double standard evidenced by the ballots posted on Coleman’s blog. The squiggles that invalidate a Coleman ballot are identical to the stray marks that don’t invalidate a Franken vote.
Take it to court, Norm. When liberal hypocrisy gets this blatant, don’t acquiesce to it.
December 25th, 2008 at 9:43 AM
The evil Democrat received the most votes, so what’s the problem. Democracy is not that complicated, especially when we have a Democratic hack as our Secretary of State.
Quit crying.
