MUST READ FROM THE WSJ: “FUNNY BUSINESS IN MINNESOTA”
By Ryan Flynn | January 5, 2009

“Strange things keep happening in Minnesota, where the disputed recount in the Senate race between Norm Coleman and Al Franken may be nearing a dubious outcome. Thanks to the machinations of Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and a meek state Canvassing Board, Mr. Franken may emerge as an illegitimate victor.
Mr. Franken started the recount 215 votes behind Senator Coleman, but he now claims a 225-vote lead and suddenly the man who was insisting on ‘counting every vote’ wants to shut the process down. He’s getting help from Mr. Ritchie and his four fellow Canvassing Board members, who have delivered inconsistent rulings and are ignoring glaring problems with the tallies.
Under Minnesota law, election officials are required to make a duplicate ballot if the original is damaged during Election Night counting. Officials are supposed to mark these as ‘duplicate’ and segregate the original ballots. But it appears some officials may have failed to mark ballots as duplicates, which are now being counted in addition to the originals. This helps explain why more than 25 precincts now have more ballots than voters who signed in to vote. By some estimates this double counting has yielded Mr. Franken an additional 80 to 100 votes.
This disenfranchises Minnesotans whose vote counted only once. And one Canvassing Board member, State Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson, has acknowledged that ‘very likely there was a double counting.’ Yet the board insists that it lacks the authority to question local officials and it is merely adding the inflated numbers to the totals.” Source: Wall Street Journal, January 5, 2008

“Minnesotans like to think that their state isn’t like New Jersey or Louisiana, and typically it isn’t. But we can’t recall a similar recount involving optical scanning machines that has changed so many votes, and in which nearly every crucial decision worked to the advantage of the same candidate. The Coleman campaign clearly misjudged the politics here, and the apparent willingness of a partisan like Mr. Ritchie to help his preferred candidate, Mr. Franken. If the Canvassing Board certifies Mr. Franken as the winner based on the current count, it will be anointing a tainted and undeserving Senator.” Source: Wall Street Journal, January 5, 2008

Atta boy, Michael – toss two of Pawlenty’s picks to the Supreme Court under the bus, for hack political reasons.
You should be real proud!!!

Atta girl, Tommy – defend the theft of an election because it’s your boy.
You should be ashamed.

Did the WSJ even research this opinion piece or did they just republish the Coleman camp’s talking points?

Say Cheeto boy?
With the recent decline in fuel prices, do you think you’ll be able to stretch your snow plowing money up to street sweeping, bush trimming and grass cutting time?
If not, I’ve got several pairs of very expensive boots that need the light touch of an expert…so if you find yourself getting low on Cheeto’s and strapped for cash, give me a call.
Pffft.
The party of Scrubs is really lucky to have a guy like you, Cheeto boy!
HAHAHAHAHAhahahAAHAHAHAHahahaHAhaaaaaaaaaa!

Hey, Michael – the state Supreme Court just tossed out another frivolous court case filed by ol’ Smokescreen!
Now, isn’t it about time you claimed that the Supreme Court is comprised of DFL lackeys, even though NONE of ‘em were appointed by a Democratic Governor??!?
C’mon, Michael – if you try real hard, you can do it…..

Quiet everyone….the Snow Plow guy Speaks!!!

Atta bootlicker, AveragerepubliConSchmuck – defending ol’ Smokescreen, with the Judge-Certified title of “Fourth Most Corrupt Senator.”
You’re just one more example of why GOP now stands for GreedOverPrinciples.

Come on, this is the Wall Street Journal editorial page! They would never alter their long-standing journamalistic principles.
Which is why they regurgitated the Coleman camp’s talking points. Duh.

Why are you throwing a temper tantrum for a life long Democrat in Norm Coleman, a man who voted for the bailout that will cost you and your family over $10,000 with no hope of any meaningful benifit.
Listen this race was so close that we will not know who really won other then to say that 58% of the voters rejected both.
A race for Governor is 670 days away, if Pawlenty chooses to move on my sense is you will support life long Democrat Norm Coleman. Lets forget about Democrat skrew ups, Al Franken’s inability to properly pay taxes is pathetic but his policy ideas need to be the reason Minnesotan’s reject him next time.
If this blog has any power then do what you can to bring back fiscal conservitism.

Mike, Franken doesn’t have any policy ideas. He’s a guy that failed at everything he’s ever been involved with; all he brings to the table is a visceral hatred of all things Republican, and for the party of Scrubs, that’s all he needed.
The party of Scrubs is providing him with a script, and all he has to do is follow it and hock the occaisional rhetorical loogy at the right and he’ll be the apple of every moonbat’s eye.
No one in the GOP is happy with Norm. He’s a placeholder, at best; win or lose here, no way does he get endorsed for Governor.
January 5th, 2009 at 12:23 PM
If you weren’t happy with Norm you should have replaced him.

You’re such a predictable liar.
January 5th, 2009 at 12:30 PM
And you’re a typical republiCon bootlicker.
Team Smokescreen has lost EVERY court filing they made.
Each and every one of ‘em.
Why, with that record, they’re almost – ALMOST – as pathetic a loser as you are.
Almost.
January 5th, 2009 at 12:44 PM
…and he’s lost every request because Mark “When you can win ‘em, rig ‘em!) Ritchie has lead the charge to dismiss every request in the hopes of saving Angry Al’s butt.
January 5th, 2009 at 12:56 PM
Thank you for proving, once again, the low intellectual level of the typical bootlickin’ republiCon, D.
Good job!!
January 5th, 2009 at 1:23 PM
…and he’s lost every request because Mark “When you can win ‘em, rig ‘em!) Ritchie has lead the charge to dismiss every request in the hopes of saving Angry Al’s butt.
And don’t forget the three Republican appointees on the Canvassing Board who helped Ritchie! Why, the conspiracy goes so deep that Tim Pawlenty’s former law partner is in the tank for Al Franken! Wheels within wheels, man, wheels within wheels.

“Thank you for proving, once again, the low intellectual level of the ….”
Oh, noes! D has been PWN3D by teh SuperAmerica Plow Truck Guy! No retaliation is possible, for the massive cerebral cortex of the SuperAmerica Plow Truck Guy is known to all!
HAHAHAHAaaaa!
Here’s a quarter, Cheeto boy…you earned it!
