NRSC CHAIRMAN: MINNESOTA LAW AND SENATE RULES MUST BE RESPECTED
By Ryan Flynn | January 5, 2009

WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), made the following statement today in response to reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) may seek to disregard Minnesota law, as well as circumvent the rules of the U.S. Senate, and attempt to seat Democrat Al Franken as the junior Senator from Minnesota on Tuesday.
“The rules of the U.S. Senate state very clearly that any new Senator must present a certificate of election or appointment signed by both his/her home state Governor and Secretary of State. In fact, this is the very rule Senator Reid’s office has publicly cited in refusing to seat Mr. Burris from Illinois.
“Further, the laws of the State of Minnesota state that no certificate can be awarded until all legal challenges are resolved, which is far from the case currently in the Minnesota Senate race. It’s clear that numerous Minnesotans have been wrongly disenfranchised by a flawed recount process and the Coleman campaign has every right to contest the Canvassing Board’s decision, as they should.
“So if Senator Reid seeks to seat Al Franken without a certificate of election, he will be telling the people of Minnesota, and all Americans for that matter, that rules and laws can be ignored whenever he sees fit or whenever it’s politically convenient for Senate Democrats. This would send a terrible signal to all Americans who are rightfully expecting this new Congress to work together in a bipartisan manner.
“I sincerely hope that Senator Reid does not go down this path. I hope that he adheres to the Senate’s rules and allows the people of Minnesota to decide this Senate race. Minnesota voter’s choices and Minnesota’s laws must be respected.
“If Senator Reid chooses to ignore both, then I expect Republicans will stand in the way of his desire to play kingmaker in deciding the next Senator from Minnesota.â€

Shouldn’t you at least wait a day after your “butt out of our race, Mr. Non-Minnesota senator” before posting about a non-Minnesota senator butting into our race?

Has anyone even hinted that Franken is about to be given an election certificate?
The democrats have called on Norm to accept his fate, but none that I have heard thus far have said that he will be given an election certificate. Especially if T-Paw needs to sign it to make it valid.
I imagine Norm will continue to add to the state’s massive deficit with his futile attempts to stall the inevitable. Few will remember any of his successes, as his legacy will rapidly become that of a former rising star who cost the state hundreds of thousands of dollars when we could least afford it, while weakening our national power by denying the state the correct compliment of members of Congress. Only his likely indictment and conviction on ethics charges will be able to draw attention from the poor way in which he chose to leave the public stage.

Hmmm…say, Leroy?
Maybe the ClubFed in Rochester will be re-named, in ol’ Smokescreen’s (dis)honor…..

Leroy Jenkins and Tommy Johnson I’m sure you will love watching Norm Coleman as he is sworn in as Governor of MN January 2011(your Governor) if…I say if he loses to Al Franken.
Apparently quite a few precincts had more hand count votes then registered Election Day signed in voters. And apparently these precincts were in Democrat leading areas. Maybe vote padding is done habitually and no one usually notices because the results are usually too decisive to matter. Perhaps this is a dirty little liberal secret (“vote early and vote often.”)
Let’s have all votes match the registered people who signed in and voted. If the count is under as in the case in Mpls then I would say yes that was the right call for that specific situation. But these votes exceeding signed in registered voters is ridiculous and smells fishy…even criminal.
Tommy, so what if Norm Coleman said that shortly after the tabulations were set. I mean information is only as viable as it is current and up to date. At that point in time everyone was sure that a hand count wouldn’t make a significant difference. Even Mr. Ritchie who sounded none two excited about the hand count and even offered ever so the idea that one could save everyone a lot of trouble if they stepped aside.
After the hand counting was when the fiasco really started as we realized all the inaccuracies and now the magnitude of the excess vote count problem of over running the voter rolls.
Padding the votes just like militant Democrats…they haven’t changed. You lose a New York high profile Governor and now this one from Illinois (Feds busted them both). We have one lousy Senator from Idaho who tap dances seated on the toilet and a perverted congressman of Florida thrown out or career ended and you guys think the GOP’s finished!
No. I don’t think.
Norm Coleman’s hands are clean and he was thought of well enough for a liberal St. Paul (who remember voted 70% in favor of Kerry in 2004) who gave him 60% of the vote two years after disclosing to all that he had changed parties.
He was a great Mayor for St Paul and guess what when the people of St Paul had a choice of outing him they couldn’t seem to bring themselves to do it because they were voting not by party (like this Senate election) but by self interest.
U.S. Senators don’t directly affect us and our lives as the Capitol city hometown mayor. And that my two friends says pretty much all that needs be said. The man is a great statesman.

“Few will remember any of his successes,”
Leroy, just wanted point out a typo…the sentence should read “Few will remember many of his successes.”

“Apparently quite a few precincts had more hand count votes then registered Election Day signed in voters.”
No shit, Sherlock. Haven’t you ever heard of “Absentee Ballots”?
Damn, you republiCons are stupid.

“We have one lousy Senator from Idaho who tap dances seated on the toilet and a perverted congressman of Florida thrown out or career ended and you guys think the GOP’s finished! “
That’s the problem with you republiCons; you just make shit up.
Let’s compare Spitzer and Vitter, shall we?
Spitzer gets caught doin’ high-priced hookers, and falls on his sword (pun intended). Vitter, a republiCon who took the seat from another sex-scandal disgraced republiCon in Louisiana, gets caught doin’ hookers (allegedly, she dressed him up in diapers before doin’ Vitter). Does he fall on his sword?
Of course not – he’s a republiCon.
From The Christian Science Monitor:
Damn, you’re a stupid (cheney)in’ bootlicker, StupidrepubliCon.
January 6th, 2009 at 7:24 am
“No. I don’t think.”
Obviously.
Which, of course, is why you’re a republiCon.

“Norm Coleman’s hands are clean…”
Bullshit.
Al Franken ran an ad, accusing Norm of bein’ the “Fourth Most Corrupt Senator.”
Team Smokescreen filed a legal complaint, claiming the ad was false. What did the Good Judge rule, on Team Smokescreen’s legal filing? Let’s read it again, for those historically impaired (i.e., “republiCons”):

Still at it at 9:30 pm and back at it at 7:10 am.
No snow last night again, eh Cheeto boy? Been up all night wanking yourself instead of plowing out parking lots, boy?
That’s tough. Don’t forget; if you start to run low on Cheetos and find yourself strapped for cash, I’ve got several pairs of very expensive boots that need the attention of an expert.
I pay the prevailing minimum wage, of course…plus tips if you put a real good shine on ‘em.

Scrotee, when you get tossed in the drunk tank – AGAIN – after runnin’ over garbage cans, give me a call. I’ll loan you bail money.
HAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahahaHAHAHAHAhahahaha
January 6th, 2009 at 7:59 am
If I get tossed in jail, for DWI or for any other reason, I’d call the best lawyer in the Twin Cities, not the parking lot plow guy.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I’ve never been in the “drunk tank”, but even if I had been, you couldn’t afford to loan me enough to buy a shoelace, much less bail.
Pffft.
You’re really not very bright, are you Cheeto boy?
You better spend less time worrying about my driving record and dreaming about male genitalia, and more time hustling your next rent payment.
If you don’t get out there and hit the streets, boy, you’re never gonna be able to pull the trigger on that 81′ Chev. What kind of CEO are you?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHaaaaaaaaaa!
January 6th, 2009 at 8:09 am
“What kind of CEO are you?”
The kind that doesn’t hire repeat drunk drivers, like you!
January 6th, 2009 at 9:25 am
Don’t worry about me, Cheeto boy. I make more in an hour than you see in a month, trust me.
Your job is to start earning enough money to move out of moms basement and start raising that brood of Downs syndrome kids you and your sister made.
So put down that bag o’ Cheetos, turn off the kiddie pron, get your bloated ass out there boy, and get to it.
Cheeto Boy & Sons is countin’ on you!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

So Tommy Johnson let me get this straight…absentee ballots are to blame for the excess registered voters who signed in on election day at their polling place just before voting? There is a record on tape of the number of votes cast by machine and during the hand counting 25 precincts had (some in the hundreds) more ballots (excluding absentee ballots those are separate and they aren’t matched with the election day sign in signatures Tommy)then machine recorded votes. Since all these were in left leaning counties this would mean Coleman probably lost a significant amount of votes. And more important the causes of these errors need to be found out. How does something like this happen?
In addition the double counted votes where originals and both marked and unmarked duplicate ballots need to be refigured. Franken deserved I think to have 133 missing ballots in that specific case. I expect Coleman to have the same fairness courtesy treated towards him when 25 left leaning precincts show excess ballot counts compared with the actual voting tape records and registered voter roll election day sign ins.
Yes, of course there is hypocrisy, but what do you expect after all each side is fighting for to win and making their cases, but each side does not make the rules! Very important distinction. So the pressure is on the precincts counties canvassing board and Supreme Court to set the rules. We’ve had weak and inconsistent leadership by the election overseers. Granted it’s been tough, but these men and women know U.S. Senate races are not beanbag.
This whole fiasco is similar to Animal Farm where the fascist pigs are the Franken camp all the other animals are the Coleman camp and a drunken Mr. Jones sleeping it off in his stone windmill is the election officials Canvassing board and Supreme court.
All animals are equal…
but some animals are more equal then others…
OINK!!! OINK!!
