MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “REPUBLICAN PARTY OF MINNESOTA TO HARRY REID: STAY OUT OF OUR ELECTIONS”
By Ryan Flynn | January 5, 2009

Republican Party of Minnesota Chair Ron Carey today released the following statement regarding recent statements from Senate Democrats suggesting they would attempt to seat Al Franken.
“Recent statements suggesting that Senate Democrats may try to seat Al Franken without an election certificate flies in the face of Harry Reid’s own standard for seating Roland Burris from Illinois. Reid’s spokesman said that without an election certificate Burris could not be seated, but Al Franken does not have an election certificate and no one from Minnesota will have an election certificate until after all issues regarding the election are resolved before the courts. The people of Minnesota should have the final say in who represents them in Washington, not Harry Reid and D.C. Democrats.â€
Reid Spokesman Says There Will “Likely Be An Attempt To Seat†Franken. “Jim Manley, the spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Monday that there ‘likely will be an attempt to seat [Franken] this week.’ A senior Democratic aide confirmed that Senate Democrats hoped to swear Franken in Tuesday, along with the rest of the freshman senators.†(Emily Cadei and Kathleen Hunter, “Senate Democrats May Try To Seat Franken,†CQPolitics.com, January 5, 2009)
FLASHBACK: Reid Spokesman Says Roland Burris Could Not Be Seated Unless He Has An Election Certificate. “’Until he gets a certificate he is not a senator,’ said Jim Manley, spokesman for Reid, D-Nev.†(Catharine Richert, “Challenges Could Keep Two Senate Seats Open For Weeks,†Congressional Quarterly, January 1, 2009)

Wow. So Sen. Reid should butt out, but Sen. Cornyn can butt in whenever he wants. Hypocrisy much, fellas?
January 5th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Chris you are an idiot, Cornyn is basically saying the same thing, which is we will protect the voting rights of Minnesotans and not allow the US Senate to seat someone who has not lawfully been elected.
January 5th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
So Harry will let the white guy in, but block the door on the black guy….. kinda like ole’ George Wallace and the schools back in the day.
January 5th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
GSF, you do know what the Constitution says about seating senators, don’t you?
I thought not.
January 5th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
I am astounded that any Democrat actually graduated from High School.
January 5th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Well, naomi, despite republiCon attempts to destroy public education, it’s still there.
Then again, there’s nothing – NOTHING – republiCons haven’t tried to destroy.
republiCons run on the platform “government doesn’t work” – then they get elected and prove it.
There’s a lot of work for the Democrats to do; rebuilding all the carnage from republiCon rule.
January 5th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
Tommy, Harry did say he would block the black guy. Please provide us with your understanding of the Constituion and where is says Harry can prevent the black guy from replacing the other black guy.
naomi, Tommy failed grade school and as a result is only qualified to mow lawns and shovel snow. Part time. He supplements his income with taxpayer dollars. Something about falling off a toilet while stoned.
January 5th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Tommy is a Democrat because he is incapable of taking care of himself and requires the goverment to take care of him.
Sad that there are so many people like him in this country.
Tommy knows nothing about how the goverment works and doesn’t even understand that the Democrats have been in charge over the last two years of economic collapse. Tommy is incapable of admitting that he is wrong and that it is his party that is responsible for what has happened since they “took charge” two years ago.
Lets hope that Obama can keep those kids in Congress under control and do what is right for this country. Should be interesting to see how long it takes Obama to bend over for Nancy and Harry.

rePete, link here for the Constitution, written at a level even a bootlicker like you can understand.
Well, maybe not.
But after linking there, if you have any questions, ask the nice PlayGroundLady (or, ShortBusDriver)….

Burris and Franken are two totally separate issues. One has been elected by a legally and statutory process that has been fair, legal and transparent. AS has happened in the past, he should be seated pending the outcome of any litigation, again, as has happened in the past.
With Burris, it is the refusal of the Sec of State to sign off on his certificate of appointment, that creates the legal opening for denial of the seat. Again, I believe Burris, as well, should be seated.

PS: Coleman will concede within the next 48 hours. No money, no more votes to find, and what little left of his political future still ahead of him. But go ahead Mike and the rest, fight . . fight on . . . and watch your candidate become an asterisk in MN political history.
January 5th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Watch long enough, and you’re likely to watch Norm do a PerpWalk.
Seems that the FBI is lookin’ into ol’ Smokescreen’s more shady transactions….

“Well, naomi, despite republiCon attempts to destroy public education, it’s still there.”
And our very own constitutional scholar and self-taught lawyer that moonlights as a SuperAmerica parking lot plowtruck driver is a shining example of the kind of students they turn out.
Nice job, Cheeto boy….make sure you get ‘er done curb to curb and don’t forget the air pump station!
HAHA!

“One has been elected by a legally and statutory process that has been fair, legal and transparent.”
“Transparent”. Right. It’s so transparent that no one doubts that there are hundreds of duplicate ballots that have been counted…not even election judges.
“Fair” and “legal”? Well I’m sure that the party of Scrubs will let us know that the standards are for those sometime today.
Right, Flush?
January 5th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
So sayeth the Jail-House lawyer, our very own Scrotee.
January 5th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
“No money..”
Yeah, it’s too bad George Soros refused to do any fundraising for Norm, I guess.
“..no more votes to find..” Bingo!
Hell, Franken’s got more votes than voters as it is! He don’t need no more stinkin’ votes.
January 5th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
“no one doubts” – No one with any shred of integrity left!
Transparent – Everything was done under the watchful camera eye.
“Fair†and “legal†– A board full of GOP or IP appointees (sans Ritchie) and a process followed to the letter by statutory authority.
Listen, Mr. Swiftee, the rules are the rules, and there still are some rules left to play out. But the reality is, even if Former Senator Coleman wins every single one, there still isn’t enough votes left. But you make sure he tries. The people of MN will remember every step he takes. And thanks to people like you, and Mike, and Knaack, and the rest, it will cost you all the way down ticket . . . . AGAIN!
MikeDEceit; electing Democratic candidates one slime at a time! I couldn’t thank you enough!!

“Minneapolis Director of Elections Cindy Reichert seemed to concur with Coleman’s assessment [which is that double counting of ballots has occurred].”
“I agree that there is a big issue here,” Reichert said.
“During the recount, the Secretary of State’s office requested counting of original ballots — not the duplicates — forcing elections judges to locate duplicates and match them to their originals. But in some cases, there were more originals than duplicates.”
Reichert did not now exactly how many ballots were affected.
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
Didja get that, Flush?
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
“‘I know it happened in several precincts,’ Reichert said.”
I suppose you’re going to tell us is depends on the the meaning of “happened” is…right, Flush?
Well, when you Scrubs figure out what the story is going to be, get back to us, won’t you?
January 5th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
“….electing Democratic candidates one slime at a time!”
I couldn’t have put it any better myself, Flush.
Nicely done, dolt.
BWwahahahahahahahaaaaa!
January 5th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
Swiftee, no matter how much you love the cut and paste function, your argument lacks merit.
January 5th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Right…I bet you could just scratch Reichert’s eyes out, too eh, Feckless?
January 5th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Swiftee, is it possible for you to make one single comment without name-calling or general jack-assery? You may not agree with everyone on here, but grow up. Every one of your posts amounts to the grade-school argument of “I know you are, but what am I?”
On the other hand, keep it up. It makes it easier for the Democrats to take the high road.
January 5th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
The “high road”, you say.
Huh.
Is that what Democrats have been doing Bob?
Gee, you know, I thought it was called payola, fraud, theft and lying….but I’m sure you’re right. ‘Cause you’re a Democrat, and you’re scary smart….right, Bob?
Pffft.
January 5th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
Has Rod Blagojevich been taking that high road, Bob? How about Bill Richardson, or Jesse Jackson Jr.? Has Rahm Emmanual been seen up there on that high road, buddy?
Isn’t there a Democrat vowing to take a Senate seat that he purchased?
Is this what you’re talking about, Bob?
No. I bet not.
And you’re an ass for having suggesting any stinking Democrat knows where the high road is, much less has any plans for using it that doesn’t involve a few bucks coming their way.
January 5th, 2009 at 7:24 pm
Keep going Swiftee. Every post of yours equals lost credibility of anything posted on this site in favor of Coleman. You’re an excellent spokesperson. Keep it up.

Does anyone know if Little Tommy Swift got through the holidays without a DUI?
