ALBERT LEA TRIBUNE EDITORIAL: “DON’T TAKE DOWN COLEMAN SIGN”
By Ryan Flynn | January 6, 2009

We noticed a man who lives on Freeborn County Road 45 between Clarks Grove and Geneva still had one last political sign up. It was for Sen. Norm Coleman.
On Monday afternoon, we saw he was out there taking it down — or so it looked that way as we drove past.
We hope he puts it back up.
Why?
Because there isn’t a winner yet. Coleman hasn’t lost; Franken hasn’t won. It’s not over.

Flash, you are a complete bumbling fucking idiot, the Albert Lea Tribune is now the voice of the MNGOP?
January 6th, 2009 at 11:52 AM
Thank you for your kind words.
Clearly, is is this site, the voice of the MNGOP, that is promoting the activity.
Thanks again for your mature and respectful comments!

Flush like free speech…as long as it conforms to HIS idiology. Try driving through the communists enclaves in Minneaspolis and St. Paul without seeing a Franken or a WELLSTONED! sign. It can’t be done.
Oh, and for Flush and the rest of the liberal trolls:
Deduct 100 votes from Franken do to the ILLEGAL inclusion of votes from a Minneapolis precinct that can’t be located.
Deduct 130+ votes from Franken for known and proven double counts.
Coleman wins. Get over it. Sorry, you can’t rig an election.
January 6th, 2009 at 12:03 PM
I think Franken should be seated today; so should Roland Burris.
I also think that Bill Richardson jumped the gun and the Rod Blagojevitch is being treated very unfairly.
These men, and those like them standing in the shadows, are the face of the Democrat party. They have been put in positions of leadership by people that admire their character and values.
The majority has spoken!
The GOP, and people not members of the party, but that agree with conservative principals, are simply going to have to get used to the idea that we are embarking upon the wholesale remake of the United States in the way liberals want it done.
There is no “traditional American” value anymore…it all depends on what the meaning of “is” is on any given day.
I, for one, can see that Rahm Emmanual means business. I don’t need to receive a stinking fish to get the message, and I can see it’s futile to resist the inevitable “changeâ€.
The fact is, I plan to fully embrace the new regime and its lessons.
Oh, yes….I have seen the light, and am actually looking forward to the benefits my newfound enlightenment will bestow upon myself and my family.
For starters, I am sick and tired of working weekends and long nights. I’ve worked my ass off for a system that the Democrat party has proved beyond all possible doubt is a complete waste of time and effort.
So tomorrow, I’ll quit my job.
I’ll cash in my 401K and use the proceeds to grease my way into a nice Obama stimulus job, which is sure to include union protection for my absolute right to occupy it for life, no matter what. I’ll just show up and tell the boss “I’m here to take my seatâ€, and that will be the end of it.
Think of it, after wasting 25 years practicing electrical engineering, I’ll finally be a part of a “working familyâ€.
Since the success of my efforts in my new position will be impossible to measure (simply too many variables that are out of my control), I’ll be free to spend a portion of each day using whatever influence my job empowers me with to “relieve my family’s financial positionâ€.
If anyone questions me about the propriety of that, I’ll simply act like I didn’t hear anything.
I’ll have evenings, weekends and dozens of paid holidays at my disposal; I’ll join my fellow enlightened citizens in the kinds of care free debauchery that describes the new norm as dictated by “the reality based community”.
It’s going to be sweet.

Please…PLEASE do this. Go all Liberal on us. Gay marriage, skyrocketing taxes, socialism…PLEASE do this!
I love when lemmings like Flush walk off the cliff and take their buddies (in St. Paul and Washington) with them!

Flush: Imagine 2012 and the idiots in Iowa/NH/SC put Jeb Bush in as nominee. You and your idiot buddies would be as giddy as school girls.
That’s how I am with your diatribe. PLEASE do it! PLEASE!

D:
I don’t see any official party/partisan voices, like MikeDEceit is, promoting the violation of the law. Yes, there are a few, very few, WELLSTONE! signs still out there, but the only ones I see are inside homes in windows. I have not seen ANY Franken signs up within my bright blue enclaves around St. Paul.
Swiftee, NOOOOO!!!!! Fight, Fight on, you have a chance to win this thing. Fight with every breath, every last penny, and every last drip of integrity that still simmers in your heart! I offer you a heartfelt Pffft, with a Bwahahahahaha!
Only my best of friends have called me Flush, I kind of like it. Thanks for feeling like you all are one of them. I have always been open and accepting to all regardless of political partisanship!

In any municipality, whether or not the municipality has an ordinance that regulates the size or number of noncommercial signs, all noncommercial signs of any size may be posted in any number from August 1 in a state general election year until ten days following the state general election.
As witnessed virtually every day since November 4th, the election for Senator is not over. When a winner is finally declared, which cannot happen until the conclusion of the entire process (including the Election Contest to it’s conclusion), then the ten days will begin.
I’d love to see a liberal city try to force people to stymie freedom of speech on this. Perhaps they could show up in brown shirts.
January 6th, 2009 at 12:28 PM
“I don’t see any official party/partisan voices, like MikeDEceit is, promoting the violation of the law.”
Of course not!
In the new Democrat future, it will be virtually impossible to violate any law; ’cause there won’t be any. We’ll all be free to do anything we want, whenever we want to (just as long as no corporation is making money in the doing of it).
If anyone tries to judge us, we’ll just act like we don’t see them and go on our way.
January 6th, 2009 at 12:29 PM
“Actually., my ideological lean is Right of Center…”
It’s whatever you say it is, Flush.
January 6th, 2009 at 12:30 PM
Flush: You’re either a liar or an ignoramous (I’ll vote for both).
As recently as a few weeks ago, I still found Franken-fraud signs on Lexington Av and St. Clare in St. Paul.
West of the cites, I still saw 3 different Steve Sarvi signs up, as recently as Christmas Day!
If a person wants to leave a sign up, its called “free speech”. Take a look at the Bill of Rights if you’ve forgotten.
And I don’t believe MDE has EVERY bitched about seeing other candidate signs out yet.
January 6th, 2009 at 12:44 PM
Average Joe:
“the state general election.”
This is a date certain, the first tuesday after the first Monday. I know Republicans like to make up rules and laws as they go along, but unfortunately, that isn’t how it works. Ask Swiftee Pfffft Bwahahahahah!! Hahahahahahaha
D: I am whoever you want me to be, isn’t that cool!
I very seldom, and certainly not since the election, have been that far south on Lexington. But now that you mention it, there may still be a Franken sign on Lexy near Englewood. I’ll check and ask them to remove it if it is there!
You can display your freedom of speech in your window, just not in your front yard if they are campaign signs.
Now come on, folks, quite wasting your time on me, there is an election contest to be won. Get out there and FIGHT. Rumor is Coleman may pull the plug during his press avail at 3:00, don’t let that happened!1 FIGHT FIGHT ON!

Umm buddy, you might want to try some logic before trying to do this ok..
100 votes in Minneapolis- not all franken votes, some Coleman, some Barkely, some Franken.
YOu can try and rig the math however you want to try, and it ain’t gonna change. Al wins no matter what. It was a good try, but this fuzzy math crap doesn’t work anymore…sorry
January 6th, 2009 at 1:33 PM
And Thomas Swift is the face of the Republican Party and MDE. How’s that working out for you?
January 6th, 2009 at 2:27 PM
“Hmm, Mr. Swiftee, you used to tell me it was every what YOU said it was. You mean I get to pick now. WOW, Thanks!”
Before the Democrat revolution, that would have been called a “LIE!”, Flush. But now, of course, it’s just today’s Democrat definition of “is”.
As you well know, I don’t ever bother “telling†moonbats anything.
I learned a long time ago that it is a complete waste of time to do anything in the presence of a liberal other than mock them; I’d have better luck telling a pile of guts in the woods to get up and dance than try and explain anything, even in the simplest terms, to a liberal.
Succinctly stated, liberals are by nature, complete, utter, idiots.
Stooping to discuss anything with them validates their buffoonery and makes the willing conversationalist as big an idiot as the liberal audience…I.do.not.want.
Carrying that objective, and correct, conclusion forward to today’s Democrat dominance, I choose not to discuss the right or wrong of the moron’s circus that is unfolding.
I choose to exploit it.
So if you’re “right of center” today, I say fine, Flush, fine.
(BTW, I have not failed to notice that you’ve even started writing like Gigi…got it pretty bad, don’t ya, Flush?)
January 6th, 2009 at 2:41 PM
Why doesn’t Aswhin Madia go down to Alber Lea and steal the sign?
dan brome, if Ashwin is still taking your calls, would you please ask him? Tommy, if the weather is bad, could Ashwin use your plow truck?
Thanks. This should solve a big problem.
January 6th, 2009 at 3:06 PM
If Flash is “right of center” Al Franken must be, wait for it, a conservative! Schwoops, ice cream headache. I guess we should be stockpiling aspirin-lots of aspirin.
January 6th, 2009 at 3:36 PM
Coleman must have forgotten to tell his Washington staff that they no longer had a job…nice going Norm, always thinking about the people that worked their asses off for you.
January 6th, 2009 at 3:40 PM
I go to this blog for comedy, but I’m starting to worry about your mental stability. It’s Norm Coleman not your first born. A war protesting long hair pot smoking hippie freak. Hey kinda like Al Franken.

January 6th, 2009 at 3:56 PM
Flash hasn’t apparently driven thru parts of Minneapolis lately. If he had, he still see Obama and Franken signs up.
But then rarely does Flash pass up an opportunity to stick his foot in his mouth at the slightest opportunity.

Seriously folks..
How is Ole Smokescreen ever going to live it down that he got beat by Stuart Smalley? That is a burden I’d hate to live with.
Does anybody think Norm will be out of prison in time for the 2020 rematch?
January 6th, 2009 at 4:20 PM
Feel the love brother!
You guys are so sweet!! *laughing*
January 6th, 2009 at 4:21 PM
I didn’t catch Coleman’s presser. I presume someone in the press put his previous “step aside” comments before him, how did he respond?
January 6th, 2009 at 4:23 PM
He said he was wrong to have said it.
January 6th, 2009 at 4:36 PM
He said that long before today danbrome. Do you have even one honest bone in your body?
January 6th, 2009 at 4:38 PM
Norm said that when he said that “He was way ahead – 700 votes out of 3,000,000. Then he said that he took that statement back when he was still ahead (as his lead was going downstream). Now he wants every vote counted!
As someone who does not hate either of these candidates but believes that both have flaws, I think that the upcoming legal process will be extremely interesting. Were votes double counted? We MAY find out. What was the range of standards used by local election officials to determine if absentee ballots were valid? We will find out, MAYBE!
As for the folks on this list, you should arrange to meet on a playground and throw rocks at each other. You better get close to each other, because if your rock throwing skills are equal your debating and spelling skills, you would never hit anything.
For you rightwingers, quit whimpering. The liberals kicked your asses because the last eight years have been a disaster in the US under Bush and in Minnesota under Pawlenty. So just shut up and go think of something productive to offer.
January 6th, 2009 at 4:40 PM
We have tried but the lefties only want to sit here and sling mud. Tommy is running as fast as he can. Leroy keeps tripping over his skirt as he runs away. Danbrome is getting run over because he is hiding behind Leroy’s skirt. The rest of them are in the back room taking turns dropping the soap.
January 6th, 2009 at 4:41 PM
I agree. Norm is a class act, and realized the mistake almost immediately, To his credit, he has said it before today. I was just stating the fact that he said it again today Pete.
I am hardly dishonest. Why do you think I supported Stuart Smalley over Ole Smokescreen?

I have canvassed all of Maplewood and Oakdale and have pulled out by the roots all the standing Franken signs. I took them to my garage and after dousing the pile with gasoline burned them…Ha hahaaaaa!
I’m only joking, but I did see a Franken sign in that area yesterday and gave the sign a very, very stern look….that will show everyone!!

January 6th, 2009 at 5:45 PM
I think the Court (meaning th MN Supreme Court – if the action is filed in District Court, no real decision will be made till it gets to the SC) can and should do 3 things the Canvassing Board could not do (because they don’t have the power under the statute).
1. They can hear evidence on the so called “double counted” ballots. The Coleman will have to show that it is more likely than not that these were double counted. So far, evidence has not been forthcoming and there are 3 or 4 equally plausible explanations that would not mean double counting. So, unless they have some new secret evidence (and given the Supreme Court rulings to date), advanatage on this one goes to Franken.
2. They could and should get rid of the “veto” rights they gave the campaigns on the pile 5 absentee ballots. There should be a mechanism for disputing whether a ballot is really pile 5 or not, but unrestricted veto rights really do mean that some number of votes on both sides went uncounted just because of the whim of one campaign or the other and that’s wrong. Advantage no one, probably a wash.
3. The Coleman campaign is right that there should be a mechanism for disputing a local official’s disallowance of an absentee ballot (in other words, it was put in pile one though 4). Then there could be a ruling on whether or not it was properly disallowed. But this applies not only to Colman’s 500 or 600 cherrypicked disallowed ballots but to all 10,000 or so disallowed absentee ballots. It will be time consuming but the campaigns should BOTH have the right to challenge the findings of local election officials. Bottom line though, local election officials have now looked at all these rejected absentee ballots at least twice and made the same finding each time. Very few will end up being counted and, even if they are, it’s probably a wash.
End result, more work for the Court (which may send some of these chores back to the Canvassing Board), but it will be a fairer process which Franken will probably still win. And Coleman spends a lot of political capital and goodwill in the process.

January 6th, 2009 at 10:22 PM
Thanks Norm for making the Dem lawyers rich.
If they crack open more absentee ballots they will trend Franken. They won’t just accept some of
Norm’s cherry picked ballots, they will get a bunch more in there as well. The absentees were running heavy Dem, not so good a source of votes.
The other issues may not get much traction and even if they do they do not have enough votes to swing it. So Norm makes the lawyers rich. And then goes to Club Fed no matter what way the
contest is decided. How does he get up in the
morning?
January 7th, 2009 at 8:31 AM
I still have my Norm Coleman sign up in my front yard in Burnsville and I was thinking about taking it down but I may reconsider.

I understand your “condition” very well, rePete:
“angry white male, stuck in the Party Of Permanent Minority.”
For you, it sucks that the majority of voters think you’re a (cheney)in’ jerk.

January 8th, 2009 at 8:02 PM
