ST. CLOUD TIMES EDITORIAL: “OUR VIEW: GOAL SHOULD BE TO MAKE SURE EVERY VOTE COUNTS”
By Ryan Flynn | January 8, 2009

In the bitterly partisan and protracted U.S. Senate race that is Norm Coleman vs. Al Franken, Coleman made two important statements Tuesday in announcing he will challenge recount results in court. He said:
“We are filing this contest to make absolutely sure every valid vote was counted and no one’s was counted more than anyone else’s.”
“Democracy is not a machine. Sometimes it’s messy and inconvenient, and reaching the best conclusion is never quick because speed is not the first objective, fairness is.”
Those are profound points that provide the essence of why Coleman is filing a lawsuit. (And let’s be honest. Had Franken come up short in the recount, he would have headed to the courts, too.) (Source: St. Cloud Times, January 8, 2009)

The St. Cloud Times understands as do many others why there should be an election contest. It has become clear that not all votes counted and some counted more than others.

The St. Cloud Times understands as do many others why there should be an election contest.
That may or may not be, but it COMPLETELY ignores the hypocrisy of “The Fourth Most Corrupt Senator”, who said on election night that if he were Al Franken, he’d step back.
But, ol’ Smokescreen is NOT Al Franken; he’s the guy that if you don’t agree with today, you don’t worry: he’ll change. Whatever political winds are blowing, ol’ Smokescreen’s sure to notice.

I can agree with one thing that you said Ryan. If Franken had come up short, he would have gone to court. The difference is that he would have a realistic case. He would be in court because he along with many other people know that he is the rightful winner of the election. Coleman is going to court with a laughable case. He can’t win, plain and simple. Even a dumb, cheating, lying, stealing, smelly Democrat can add. The votes simply aren’t there. Votes were clearly only counted once. And even if you throw out those so called double counted votes, Coleman still can’t win. Coleman should stop acting childish and congratulate Senator Franken so we can get on with the business of the people. We face too many huge challenges in this country to waste time crying over a lost election.

“Those are profound points that provide the essence of why Coleman is filing a lawsuit. (And let’s be honest. Had Franken come up short in the recount, he would have headed to the courts, too.)”
The author of this piece is being rather transparently dishonest here. Those aren’t the reasons why Norm is filing a suit, he filing the suit because he is behind.
Does anyone seriously believe that either Al Franken or Norm Coleman would file an election contest to demand the counting of every vote, in a race where either one of them was ahead?
January 8th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Yes. A great deal of weight has been given to consistency on this blog. Whenever a democrat says one thing and then does another (yes, it happens), this site is the first to jump down their throat.
What most of us have been saying all along is, we agree that all votes need to be counted, and counted accurately. But we also believe that the right is being very disingenuous by giving Norm Coleman a free pass on his earlier statement.
January 8th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Hiram, the point is that when Norm thought he was ahead, he said if he were Franken, he’d do something he clearly won’t do now.
And it’s that kind of crap that’s gotten him into so much legal trouble.
January 8th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
The only thing profound here is the profound stupidity, futility and worst of all, hypocrisy of Norm and the MDE flukes that cling to him in this attempt to squeeze votes from thin air.
January 8th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Politicians say what they say, and I would prefer that Norm would concede, but he has exactly the same right to pursue this election to it’s conclusion as Al Franken does. I think both Al and Norm owe it to their supporters to contest this election to it’s conclustion, assuming that either of them has a reasonable chance to win. But what I would have said to Al in November and what I would say to Norm now, is that if this contest is pursued beyond the point where there is any reasonable chance of winning, then it becomes a case where the candidate is putting his personal interests ahead of what’s good for Minnesotans. That’s a political sin, one that should be unforgivable.
January 8th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
Republicans love to talk about hypocrisy and inconsistency. Far more than Democrats, I think. For myself, I am not that concerned with consistency, and I think hypocrisy is one of those things that makes the world go around.
Both Al and Norm are saying things now that are inconsistent with the things they said two months ago. This isn’t surprising to me because after all, there positions have reversed. They are adversaries, and it’s their job to protect their own interests. What I find less acceptable is for those who are on the sidelines, who theoretically at least should be protecting the public interest such as the St. Cloud newspaper, to say things that are rather laughably untrue.
January 8th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
By the way, for what it’s worth, I think Republicans or at least some of them, see the world in black or white terms, where there is only good or evil. Whenever Republicans talk about double standards, I think to myself, why do they think there are only two?
January 8th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
Can anyone provide a reasonable math equation that would result in Coleman winning the election?
If not, let’s stop the crying and get on with things. If Norm wants to cry at home that’s fine, but he shouldn’t be allowed to cry at the expense of the representation of the people of Minnesota in the United States Senate.
If there was any chance that he could win, I would say that he should pursue the lawsuit. A case built on the arguments he has now is just lunacy. Norm should do his former constituents a favor and step aside so that we have both of our Senators representing Minnesota.
January 8th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
That may or may not be, but it COMPLETELY ignores the hypocrisy of “The Fourth Most Corrupt Senator”, who said on election night that if he were Al Franken, he’d step back.
Tommy Johnson I will not stand to sit here while you repeat over and over that Norm Coleman is the fourth most corrupt Senator. The courts didn’t back this they simply ruled that that the remark was too vague to be ruled as slander. What you are doing is lowering the dialogue that people have a right to take part be it on the sidelines or directly. Quit lying because it destroys your credibility and tires peoples’ patience. Enough.
I have read some of your points posted in the past and considered some to have good merit, but let us on either side of the isle tone down the hyperbole (I’m guilty as well so that means me too) and elevate the discussion. I don’t hate Democrats or look down on them and I’m sorry if many of my angry rants stained and distorted my real persona. I vow from now on the rest of this year to leave good respectful posts. The truth is that many aspects of political philosophy is just that philosophy and the every day down and dirty working together practical things we need to do to ensure all of us may live together are often tedious and boring in comparison. I personally am tired of my behavior and want to let others know this as well. It gets old pretty fast. I say Proud Republican but I hardly think of myself in political terms normally. I’m a human being and so is every other human being. Now if I don’t like something I will address the issue respectfully and give an example of what concerns me with out using sarcasm or put downs or mean spirited hyperbole. As Democrats, Independents and Republicans we will all be much better off rolling up our sleeves and doing the tough work that needs to be done if we expect any lasting gains from our dialogue.
January 8th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
What does this graph tell you about Conservative rule? GOP, sorry to ruin your afternoon…
http://www.iatse728.org/home/deficitgraph.htm
January 8th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
Dem math> 130 count twice=260
Also -always carry an envelope of lost votes in ones back seat – you never know when they might be needed.
Last forget the fact that there are more votes than voter who signed in, yeah I would say Norm has no reason to challenge this contest- —really!!
January 8th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Well for one thing this graph would look at lot less severe if the nominal dollars were adjusted each year for inflation. For instance the Reagan years had actually higher deficit spending then the Bush 2000-2008 years when adjusted for inflation. Show me a adjusted graph and then I will have to say yes since 1980 deficit spending has increased much, but during the 80’s we were fighting the Cold War. Ever since September 11 we’ve been fighting the war on terror. War time call sfor deficit spending. Goerge W. Bushes first year in office actually had a small surplus. You can’t tell me that we would have such deep deficit spending without the fact that we needed to beef up our military to defend the United States against those that would have us destroyed and conquered.
January 8th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
“Can anyone provide a reasonable math equation in that would result in Coleman winning the election?”
I think there are enough disputable votes out there to put the matter in doubt if Norm prevails on all his claims.
It’s Norm’s call, and he owes it to himself and his supporters to do what’s reasonable. But somewhere in Norm’s decision making process, he should think about the fact that if he is seen as poor loser, that could mean the end of his political career. And Norm, unlike Al Franken, is a professional withoug much of a life outside politics. Doe he really want to give up all prospect of political office in the future in order to pursue an election contest, which at this moment just doesn’t look all that promising?
January 8th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Well, ProudRepublican, I appreciate your post, and vow to converse with you in that same spirit.
As far as Judge Barbara Nielson’s ruling, here’s the heart:
Now, you can interpret that anyway you want to; that’s your right.
But as long as other posters on the other side of the aisle sling the sludge, I will, too. So Norm Coleman will ALWAYS be “The Court-Certified Fourth Most Corrupt Senator” to me.
January 8th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
The double counting argument is just silly. It is just a hype claim to try and keep the dream alive for Norm. Also, if you don’t count the 130 so called double counted ballots, Franken is still ahead! The double counts, if they are real, would only take 130 votes away from Franken. Where do the rest come from?
As for your other arguments, those arguments were listened to and evaluated by the canvassing board and a decision was made on how to handle things. That’s what the canvassing board is there for.
Norm’s argument is simple: “I didn’t win, this is an OUTRAGE!”. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ReBublicans think if their candidate won the system worked and if the Democrat wins the system is a sham and there must have been lying, cheating, and stealing.
The system worked just fine, and it just so happens that Norm lost.
January 8th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
And that is why you will always be a big nobody Tommy.
January 8th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Go with that, rePete – it works for you.
January 8th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Ah yes. CREW. Also known as the weekly Goon Squad that Angry Al called in each week on his failed radio show. The words “CREW” and “objective” should never be used in the same sentence…unless its something like:
“CREW is one of the least objective sources for truth that can ben found on the face of the planet.”
January 8th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Say, didn’t The Fourth Most Corrupt Senator used to have a radio show, too? It’s not on anymore; that’s just one more failure entered into ol’ Smokescreen’s legacy.
January 8th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Tommy, I have been going through the comments on the last few posts, do you work or do you just sit yourself in front of a computer and surf blogs ALL DAY?
January 8th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
When I work, I work; when I play, I play.
That’s what’s great about America – if you work hard, have entrepreneurial skills, and manage your just rewards carefully, the sky’s the limit!
January 8th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Well, unless you invested your just rewards with some GOP crook, like Boy Blunder’s former best bud, Ken Lay….
January 8th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Two Putz,
You got it ass backwards. If you work hard, have entrepreurial skills manage your rewards carefully, the sky’s the limit — until Democrats in Congress say that you’re making too much money and then redistribute it to somebody else, who is a member of their constituency.
As for Ken Lay, it was the Clinton administration’s lack of oversight on companies like Enron and Global Crossing that led to Ken Lay’s actions. It was also the Bush administration who prosecuted him. But then you’ve never let the facts get in the way of your inanity.
P.S. I saw that Clinton told Bush how much he loved the rug in the Oval Office. I wonder if Bush replied, “Yeah and I’ve managed to keep it clean for the last eight years.”
January 8th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
Is Norm in favor of the porn bailout, I know his dad was a big fan of prostitutes, and Junior Normy is a big fan of wasting my money.
January 8th, 2009 at 5:19 pm
“..do you just sit yourself in front of a computer and surf blogs ALL DAY?”
HA! Bingo!
I’ve seen threads containing Cheeto boy quotes that span 20 hours of a day. One can only guess that he takes a couple of hours off so his mom can change his diapers and lay in a fresh barrel of Cheetos.
“When I work, I work; when I play, I play.”
I’ve got to give it to Cheeto boy here. Word on the street is that Cheeto Boy & Sons does an amazing job plowing parking lots, mowing lawns and other menial tasks.
Problem for Cheeto boy is, that you could train a monkey to do those things just as well and they don’t eat as much.
Judging from the size of his bloated, greasy gut, it also looks like he can stretch subsistance wages pretty well…’course his mom’s welfare assistance comes in handy too.
January 8th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
Mike,
Nice way to honor a WWII hero, somebody who fought at Normandy. Nice way to make fun of an old man with dimentia. I see hope and change continues to rear its head on MDE.
January 8th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Well, it’s almost kickoff; gonna be a great game!!!
January 8th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Good news Cheeto boy….snow is forecast for tonight!
Maybe you’ll plow out enough parking lots that you’ll be able to replace the bailing wire that’s holding your rear bumper on with actual, unbent brackets and real bolts…hey, if you shine a few boots too, maybe you can even get a fender that isn’t all smashed up!
Just think how fine that fine, expensive truck of yours will look (pffft).
After you take the out the junk and broken appliances you’re hauling around (they’d make great lawn ornaments), you can stand in the bed and impress everyone in the trailer park with your awesome politikal skillz!
HAHAHAHAaaaa!
January 8th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
Well, it’s almost kickofff!
January 8th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
Favorite part of MDE:
How Swiftee laughs at Tommy having no life by quickly responding to every single one of his posts with inane chatter about snow plows and Cheetos.
January 8th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
And then you follow Swiftee with your own inane chatter.
January 8th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Ha ha ha ha! Good one Joe sixpack. Leroy needs to get back to his lobbying job now and stop posting all day everyday.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Frankens gonna win, if you can’t beat someone by 1,000 votes state wide you get what you get. Hey I wonder what votes prior to the election cost him hundereds of thousands of votes, probably the one that costed Minnesotans aproxamatly $14 billion
January 8th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Franken won this thing “won” this election when Richie removed key judges from both the Ramsey County District Court and the Minnesota Supreme Court.
Coleman was stupid enough to applaud Richie’s contamination of the courts.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
Soros’ investment in Richie was a good one.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
You got that right, Chestnut. I’d go one more…Soros’ investment in Franken’s attorneys was an even better one. As the WSJ pointed out, it’s amazing that every ruling in the recount was in favor of one candidate: Al Franken. Norm made a big mistake hiring Tony Trimble and Fritz Knaack. We haven’t won an important election case in my memory with those two.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Mike,
You make as much sense about Franken as you do about Norm’s father. Al Franken didn’t win by more than 1000 votes, so what’s your point?
January 8th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Chris your an idiot, Norm won by 1,000 votes, unfortanatly when an election is close it doesn’t count.
As for my comment on the porn bailout I just want a rational explenation why a tiny fraction of the bailout can’t be directed that way, if Norm’s for tossing my money in the air for some and not others it needs to be based on something, like it or hate it porn makes an impact on our economy, those porn stars spend money the moment they get it, you can’t underestimate how impactful that is.
January 8th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
Mike,
I hope your wife doesn’t know how much you know about the porn industry. Your statement is idiotic on its face. I have an idea, let’s stop pissing our money away on any more bailouts. There’s a reason why these businesses are failing. And there’s a reason why we have Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
January 8th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
What escape from reality this blog is. Screw the real world lets just bitch back and forth about this nonsense, totally forgetting about everything else which is going on in the world!
Norm lost the re-count face the music!
douchebags, ha ha ha
January 8th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
Really Chris that was your idea to not support the bailout, if you voted for Coleman or McCain then you supported the bailout, your part of the problem.
January 8th, 2009 at 11:22 pm
Does anybody think Norm will be out of prison in time to try again in 2020?
January 8th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
danbrome,
ROTFL! That anyone from the party of Bill Richardson, Rod Blagojevich, Charlie Rangel, William Jefferson, et al. would lecture any of us on corruption has got to be the joke of the day.
January 8th, 2009 at 11:38 pm
Mike,
It’s one thing to add liquidity to the credit markets, it’s another thing to bailout every special interest of the Democrat Party — I guess including porn stars. We’ve bailed out the AFL CIO, and soon we’ll be bailing out the teachers’ unions, state employees and the nation’s largest cities like NYC, LA, Chicago, etc.
January 9th, 2009 at 12:06 am
Chris, you moron, it’s the GreedOverPrinciples party that claims to be “The Family Values Party.”
I guess that’s true, in that “crime families” are a fact of life in the good ol’ US of A.
And I really like you naming Richardson, who immediately stepped down, as opposed to ol’ Smokescreen, who won’t.
Almost as much as I like Spitzer stepping down for his involvement in a sex scandal, as opposed to republiCon Vitter – who the republiCon Senators gave a standing ovation to.
Hypocrisy, Thy Party Is GOP.
But, Gators are National Champions again; snow’s on the way in; Boy Blunder is on the way out – as is ol’ Smokescreen; and the small-tent republiCon party is now in Permanent Minority Status.
All in all, the FUBAR the GOP created is comin’ back to bite ‘em on the ass and I’m makin’ money.
America is a great country!
Why do you hate America so much, Chris?
January 9th, 2009 at 12:18 am
Two Putz,
LMAO! Bill Richardson is still the Governor of New Mexico. If he did nothing wrong, why did he remove himself from consideration of Commerce Secretary? If he did something wrong, why hasn’t he resigned from office?
As for he hating America, diddly-shits like you are the kings of hate. I’m just wondering if you trashed your Commander in Chief like you do here when you were in the military. I’ve never said anything disresepectful of Barack Hussein Obama. Furthermore, America is a great country regardless of who is the occupant of the Oval Office. You sure are the poster child of hope and change, Two Putz.
January 9th, 2009 at 12:21 am
P.S.
If you think your party is going to be in the permanent majority, so did Jimmy Carter. This one trillion dollar boondoggle is likely going to cause the same kind of malaise for America as Carter’s reckless policies did in the 1970s. Your permanent majority didn’t last very long then either.
January 9th, 2009 at 1:30 am
Hello Media Morons
The process is now outside your ability to agitate public opinion to influence the result. You and I are now passive observers as the Supreme of all Minnesota Courts will decide the next Senator. Your influence has not been helpful.
Let’s hope the Court gets it right.
Let’s also replace this goofy “recount and divine the voter intent” crap with a runoff election when candidates don’t get 50+ percent of the vote. Not the instant recount, but a new election.
Third parties, God bless them because they challenge the status quo, create election issues that can result in very unpopular candidates being elected with much less than a majority of the votes cast. These are, by nature, unpopular officials who arrive on scene without a mandate and are ineffective. Anyone come to mind?
Run-off elections should be required whenever the voting reults in less than a majority decision for one candidate.
If an election is so close as to require a “do over”, let it be. Divining intent, reading hanging chads and other subjective efforts should be quashed. This is a case of intelligent people ascribing an intelligent choice to idiots who cannot successfully complete a simple ballot.
January 9th, 2009 at 1:38 am
Tommy Johnson must get cold sitting down in mother Margaret’s basement all day eating Cheetos and blogging on his computer about how much he hates America and loves commies like Franken and Madia.
How did Tommy-the-Commie and Leroy meet? Was it a Draft-Dodgers Anonymous meeting? Tommy or Leroy, please tell us the magic moment when you told each other “I love you.”
Tommy Johnson: He can’t walk and chew bubblegum at the same time, but he can simultaneously wank and eat Cheetos.
dan brome what does this graph tell you?
http://www.peripheries.org/2008/07/22/sex-hiv-and-condom-use-amongst-uk-gay-men/
Sorry to ruin your day.
January 9th, 2009 at 3:49 am
Tommy, in that video where you did the gas-n-go,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RU5pUIjDqI4
you sound a lot like Cindy Brady (”baby talk, baby talk, its a wonder you can walk”). No … I think you sound more like Sylvester the Cat.
Maybe you need some new teeth. But how to pay for them?
Shovel more driveways
Caddy some extra rounds this summer
Do gas-n-gos for other people
Cut back on Cheetos
Rent out half your mom’s basement to Leroy
Sell your Ashwin Madia posters to dan brome
Make the DFL pay you to not be on their side
Move back to Canada, where dental work is cheaper
Tommy Johnson: Toothless Loser
January 9th, 2009 at 6:24 am
You add liquidity by lowering taxes not by printing money, Republicans don’t seem willing to take on the PR hit of doing what is right, and then they go out on this and lose critical elections because of it. Something tells me there’s more then meets the eye here as this happened at the very end of Bush term, and we haven’t heared a peep from OBama.
Follow the money, and when they refuse to let you follow it assume the worst.
January 9th, 2009 at 6:26 am
I mean Osoma, really theres no difference though.
January 9th, 2009 at 6:42 am
twocenttommy the two-fisted Cheeto eater: why do you link your name to a website that fired you in November? It’s too bad you lost that gig and it’s a very nice gesture on Michael’s part to allow you a place to express yourself.
Tommy, I don’t think your firing means that you’re a poor, ineffective writer. I already knew that before you were fired. And pay no attention when Swiftee calls you fat – for an alcoholic who eats Cheetos by the truckload, you’re really not that overweight.
“Tommie the Commie” – I like that. How about “Tommie the Commie Still Lives With His Mommy”?
January 9th, 2009 at 7:10 am
why do you link your name to a website that fired you in November?
Because I like to have those so inclined to link, to see what a (cheney)in FRAUD John Kline is.
Kline always whines about “pork” – when he’s one of the biggest porkers there is.
Which is typical for a republiCon; it’s all a matter of what they say, NOT what they do, for their bootlickers.
that fired you in November?
Wrong again, dipstick!!!
Here’s part o’ what I wrote, yesterday, about another rightwingnut:
You can read where I rip Soucheray a new one, here: MnProgressiveProject.
Oh, and yesterday’s BoyBlunderism was a good one, too.
January 9th, 2009 at 7:10 am
I still prefer Flounder. The name says it all of Ol Two Putz.
January 9th, 2009 at 7:29 am
I still prefer Rash Disptick. The name says it all about a hypocritial bootlicker.
January 9th, 2009 at 7:36 am
I still prefer “Swiftee Plates” on the vehicles of serial drunk drivers.
January 9th, 2009 at 9:38 am
Why Soros wants Norm Coleman out of the Senate
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/01/why_soros_wants_norm_coleman_o.html
This isn’t even a complex question. Coleman doesn’t have a “D” after his name and might oppose some of Soros/Obambi’s socialist agenda.
Instead, Soros wants to fill our government with puppets and clowns like Obambi and Franken – people with no marketable job skills.
January 9th, 2009 at 9:59 am
Two Putz,
There you go again…What evidence do you have that John Kline is one of the top recipients of pork in Congress? In 2008, John Kline was the recipient of $0 in earmarks; whereas Jim Oberstar was the recipient of $86,735,786 according to Citizens Against Government Waste. Once again you’re proving that you’re as much as scholar as you are a gentleman.
January 9th, 2009 at 10:02 am
“You can read where I rip Soucheray a new one…”
HAHAHA! I’m sure that’s another classic piece of fine literature from our favorite semi-literate plow truck driver!
Say, Cheeto boy, you should check to make sure the bailing wire holding the battered bumper onto that fine, expensive truck of yours isn’t rusted through.
You don’t want to be littering the parking lots you plow with pieces of your capital equipment; and you really don’t want the broken appliance collection you’re hauling around to fall out either.
Cheeto boys & Sons is counting on you!
January 9th, 2009 at 10:10 am
Chris, remember; when Cheeto boy says “pork” he’s thinking of snack food.
Don’t forget who we’re talking to!
January 9th, 2009 at 12:03 pm
Chris, you stupid (cheney)in’ MORON – read the link. Or have it read to you; as is more likely.
Here’s the point, for those that didn’t get it the first time:
Decent civil servants, like Republican Jim Ramstad, send out official “franked” mailings on simple paper, at low cost – because they’re paid by the taxpayers.
Hypocritical republiCons, like John “Semper Never” Kline, send out flashy, glossy, expensive mailers, at much more cost – because they’re pokers, and that pork ist paid by the taxpayers.
January 9th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Tommy, the only “porker” around here is you. Now get back to Leroy, or is it danbrome today? You “porkers” have a job to do.
January 9th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
Two Putz,
At the risk of being banned from MDE, go fuck yourself. You don’t do anything but trash people, including those who served their country with honor and distinction like John Kline. You sit here and support people like Jim Oberstar who never saw an earmark he didn’t like and slander guys like Kline who dare to send out a mailer to their constituents. And for the record, I got about 10 such mailers from my Congressman Tim Walz. I really wish you’d go spew your hateful mean spirited slander somewhere else. Maybe if Franken steals the election, he’ll hire you to be his press secretary. Then you can at least have the balls to call people like John Kline and others names to their faces.
January 9th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Don’t say “balls” around Tommy. He gets kind of excited.
Shit, too late. He’s already grabbed the tweezers!
January 10th, 2009 at 5:01 am
The double counting argument is just silly. It is just a hype claim to try and keep the dream alive for Norm. Also, if you don’t count the 130 so called double counted ballots, Franken is still ahead! The double counts, if they are real, would only take 130 votes away from Franken. Where do the rest come from?
Obviously the highest court of these 10,000 lakes feels a need to take a closer look. The three judge panel will have much on their hands as well since so many errors in so many precincts in so many liberal areas counted too many votes according to the sign-in registers in 25 precincts spaced across the state. Plus too many canvassing board rulings were messed up. There human don’t you know and had a difficult job. Most of the calls were good but perhaps 2% merit a second looking at. This election is so close we need a recount of the canvassing board hand count. It wouldn’t take that long. Also squaring the sign in rolls with the votes recorded on election day even if only a few precincts were corrected obviously could possibly break heavy for Coleman and put him in front. Franken could then challenge the election result and we would have a situation where a new election would be in order. If I were judge for a day I would be tempted to do so and if Coleman regains the lead and Franken follows suit and contests I would not pause to breath before screaming at the top of my lungs for another election. Human error shouldn’t decide this thing.

I just learned in my Macro Econ 101 in today’s first chapter that when the money supply is out of balance with the rate the country’s economic growth then they both will start balnce each other. The book says that means inflation…much inflation. This is my question and anyone who wants enlighten me because these “laws” aren’t in stone but if we pull out of this contraction and start teetering over into the high land of nonstop inflation will Obama’s FED Chairman have the guts to hike the Fed rate as high as it needs to go? Isn’t it better to have high unemployment for a couple years and use money to keep people who lost their jobs a float while we mend our bubble pop? We could ensure people keep their homes and provide generous assistance and even help revamp the out industry for the new vechicles we need produced. Isn’t that better than pumping a trillion dollars into the economy with “tax cuts” and bailing out and effectively nationialzing our banking and party our money markets as well? I’m a new student and I just got my books yesterday and what they outline in the ten principles of Macro Econ says this pretty straight foreward. I’m afraid we may have created a monster ten times greater than it has to be. I’m worried about a huge recovery bubble burst that will dwarf the housing bubble. We may have a new currency 20 years from now….I suggest people by a life time of Forever Stamps if you can because you could save lots of money. 1921 Germany’s Mark went from 4-1 dollar ratio to at least a million to 1. You see even after massive inflation they still printed more and more money why? I have no clue!!!

…and slander guys like Kline who dare to send out a mailer to their constituents.
Chris, you stupid (cheney)in’ bootlicker, pay attention:
John Kline franked me, and I’m NOT – NOT – in his district.
John Kline wasted taxpayer money, on something he’s NOT supposed to do – sending mailers to people like me, out side of his district – and you DEFEND an act that’s wrong and costs the taxpayer money.
It’s chumps like you that have caused GOP to stand for GreedOverPrinciples.
Damn, you’re stupid.

Two Putz,
I don’t give a frog’s fat ass where you live. Franked mail, which I received over 10 pieces last year from Tim Walz, is not the same as pork. You’re dishonest to say that. If your biggest bitch about John Kline is that he sent you a piece of mail by mistake, then I can’t say that you have much.
If you want to talk about greed, it’s on the left. The greedy ones are in the Obama administration and Congress who see people making a little money and want to take it and re-distribute to their special interest constituencies.
You can keep calling people stupid, but I think if we took a vote on MDE for intelligence and accuracy, you’d be the first one thrown off.
