SOUND FAMILIAR
By Ryan Flynn | January 15, 2009

Al Franken and Timothy Geithner must have the same accountant.
Al Franken refused to acknowledge letters informing him he had to pay worker’s compensation insurance. Timothy Geithner apparently refused to acknowledge letters from the International Monetary Fund that he needed to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes.
The parallels are downright comical.
The Wall Street Journal has a story on Geithner’s notices from the IMF.

The best parallel?
One is about to become the Treasury Secretary. The other is about to become a Senator.
What a crystal clear sign of how impotent republicans in this country have become.
January 15th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
The best parallel?
The additions to the Democrat Party “culture of corruption” have been numerous lately:
Bill Richardson, Eric Holder, Rod Blagojevich, Charlie Rangel, Elliot Spitzer, William Jefferson, and don’t forget Hillary and Bill Clinton.
Looks like Hillary and Bill cut a deal that allows Bill to keep raking in millions from foreign countries including: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Quatar, Brunei, etc. No matter that it is a definite conflict of interest, the party of no principles or morals is willing to turn a blind eye when it comes to their own. How long before Hillary sells out the U.S. for her and Bill’s own personal gain? You know, the furniture, china, artwork, and whatever else she stole from the White House is probably getting a little shop worn and she’ll need some money for replacements.
Should scumbag Franken actually steal this election (which I don’t think he will), he would fit in nicely with the rogues gallery that has become the Democrat Party.
What is truly clear is that Democrats
January 15th, 2009 at 10:08 pm
could care less about the citizens of the U.S., and only do what’s best for themselves.
January 15th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Doncha hate it, Rash, when Democrats act like republiCons?

Here’s one of my favorite hypocritical republiCons: Jack Ryan, 2004 Republican nominee for US Senate from Illinois, pressured his wive, actress Jeri Ryan, to have sex with other men. Tricked her into visiting sex clubs, where he asked her to have sex with him while others watched.
January 15th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Quit crying.
Norm Coleman will have another chance in 2020, if he’s out of prison by then.
January 15th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
Hey – I forgot ol’ Smokescreen on my list.
Well, there’s plenty more hypocritical republiCons out there; that’s why – despite Rash’s copycatting – “Culture Of Corruption” is forever associated with today’s GreedOverPrinciples party.
Funny how Rash mentioned that (cheney)in’ Blago, who sure looks like he has a trip to Joliet lined up, when the last governor of Illinois, republiCon George Ryan, is already there.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:12 am
Tommy
What do you think will happen to the New Mexico Governor from Mexico?
He’s one dirty former Clintonista.
January 16th, 2009 at 6:36 am
Looks like he’s gonna do a PerpWalk.
Which is what ALL crooks need to do.
January 16th, 2009 at 7:32 am
Tommy, your list is interesting. I notice your tactic of not exactly giving it a title. You just heap together some names and include enough thoroughly disgraced to give the impression that everyone on the list is in the same boat. Your favorite example is involved with how THE ONE worked his political skyrocket career. Custody hearing files that were illegally leaked before a judge made a shocking decision to release them contained a salacious accusation by the Borg Babe Jeri Ryan and her lawyers that Jack Ryan had tried to pressure Jeri into having sex with strangers at a club. Jeri backed away from this when it went public, and it is common for lies and distortions of the truth to be produced in emotionally-charged custody hearings. Even if it were true, the charge is not nearly as distressing to me as certain politicians of the other party who allow prostitution rings to be run out of their homes, or who drown inconvenient girlfriends.
Tom DeLay is unfairly included on the list. His indictments were the result of a rogue fanatic Democrat prosecutor who led a grand jury around by their noses, and most of the indictments were tossed out already, and the remainded are hilariously weak.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:04 am
Mark, that list was in response to a noted bootlicker, who refuses to accept the reality that graft, corruption, and greed causes people from ALL parties, all walks of life, to commit crimes.
And that “rogue fanatic Democrat prosecutor” has a track record of prosecuting plenty of “D” as well as “R”. Shoot, in 1983 he even filed charges on himself, and paid a fine.
DeLay’s as corrupt as corruption gets. Do you really believe he didn’t have his wallet open to The Abramoff Scandal??!?
January 16th, 2009 at 8:12 am
Oh, and about “prostitution rings” – you ever hear about a place where the American Flag flies, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands?
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/05/09/real.delay/
January 16th, 2009 at 8:17 am
Tommy, I do not believe that DeLay took money from Abramoff. He has never been charged by that, officially, only by scatter-gun howling mobs. And I believe you are only paying lip-service to the idea of corruption being present in your party. I’m sick and tired of moonbats twitching and drooling when they hear that a Republican got a library fine or a parking ticket, while ignoring clowns like Dollar Bill Jefferson and Dirty Harry Reid.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:17 am
So I think Tommy is saying that Franken and Geithner cheat on their taxes because Tom Delay took a trip last century.
Proving once again that Democrat minds work in very, very strange ways.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:20 am
Tommy, I’m sure that you are going to enlighten us about the sordid affairs in the Norhtern Marianas. I’m sorry that that has not been the sole focus of all my attention. Forgive me for venal concerns like preparing for major surgery and dealing with the loss of family members.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:27 am
So KISS says that Coleman’s ethical problems are a myth of the “librul media” but allegations against Franken are the Gospel Truth, but covered up by the “librul media.”
Oh, and Mark? Cold Cash Jefferson is as big a crook as ever was, and even knowing that, his district kept electing him. Why? He’s from Louisiana, where corruption is a way of life.
Good food; great music; a fun place to visit!
But crooked as the day is long.
Let’s look at another corrupt Louisiana politician, shall we?
http://www.allhatnocattle.net/Vitter_ad_4.jpg
And what did the Republicans in the Senate do, after Vitter admitted he was doin’ hookers?
Gave him a standing ovation.
But, that’s because he was doin’ hetero infidelity – and everyone knows GOP lawmakers enjoy that.
In the last presidential election, the only GOP candidate that was only married once, was the Mormon.
Go figure.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:28 am
When you’re losing an argument, it is always a safe tactic to play the sympathy card.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:35 am
And here I thought Mark F. was simply admitting ignorance….
January 16th, 2009 at 8:40 am
No, jackass, I was only being sarcastic about some things in this world not being as important to most of us as they are to Tommy. And I do happen to be days away from surgery. Take your liberal sympathy and go to hell.
Tommy, I’m dismayed when any man is unfaithful. I do not approve of Vitter’s patronizing prostitutes. But his conduct was hardly in the same degree as Jefferson’s.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:48 am
“But, that’s because he was doin’ hetero infidelity – and everyone knows GOP lawmakers enjoy that.”
Not as much as Billy-Jeff Clinton; Gennifer Flowers, Kathleen Willey, Paula “Nose” Jones, Miss Lewinsky ….
Question: Who do you think killed Vince Foster?
Bill Richards: Just last week you defended him. Do try to keep up.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:50 am
So, Mark – now you’re playing the moral relativism card?
January 16th, 2009 at 8:51 am
Bill Richards: Just last week you defended him.
No, I didn’t. Do try to keep up.
January 16th, 2009 at 8:53 am
Not as much as Billy-Jeff Clinton; Gennifer Flowers, Kathleen Willey, Paula “Nose†Jones, Miss Lewinsky ….
And you bootlickers crucified him – because he has a “D” after his name.
David Vitter does hookers, and your GOP Senators give him a standing ovation.
“Hypocrisy, Thy Party Is GOP.”
Thank you for proving my point, Chili.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Tommy, it is rational thought and emotional maturity when a person ranks the comparative harm of certain acts. It is not moral relativism to say that you are harmed more by the burglar who smashes his way into your house and steals family heirlooms than by the kid who steals a Coke out of the cooler on your patio. You are an obscuranticist, not a clever, thoughtful and insightful person.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:19 am
Complete BS, Mark.
The argument your side used against Clinton was he committed a crime – perjury – and needed to be held accountable.
Well, if your side were to remain consistent – which it never does – then Vitter should be prosecuted too; he ADMITTEDLY committed an illegal act with a hooker.
And for that crime, GOP Senators gave him a standing ovation.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:19 am
Tommy, it’s sad that you cannot see the difference between Jefferson selling his vote for money and Vitter paying for sex. Both are corrupt, in a sense, and both violate the public trust, in a sense, but there are vast qualitative and quantitative differences.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:26 am
Mark, it’s sad that you don’t realize the reason Jefferson so far has avoided ClubFed, is because George Bush’s Justice Department botched the prosecution.
Despite that typical ineptitude of Bush’s misAdministration, Jefferson’s prosecution is going forward, and one day Dollar Bill may be checking in for an extended stay at ClubFed.
Which is where he belongs.

January 16th, 2009 at 9:27 am
Clinton perjured himself in a civil case brought against him by an allegedly victimized woman, not by the Republican Party. Vitter participated in what is often considered a victimless crime by your side. You seem incapable of making critical distinctions. Vitter did not perjure himself about patronizing prostitutes. You must also remember that Clinton was defending himself against a claim of sexual assault when he perjured himself. Although both men’s troubles involved sex, at least Vitter’s involved a willing participant.
Tommy, I’d be happy to sit down in person with you and discuss public issues. Perhaps it would be easier to avoid vitriol that way. But I’m convinced that you could not be relied upon to show up.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:37 am
Tommy, I know you are challenged on the issue of critical thinking, but I would appreciate you proving your contention that Republican senators gave Vitter a standing ovation for having had sex with hookers. The fact that he may have received a standing ovation from his comrades cannot be added to the fact that he also had sex with hookers to yield the assertion that the standing ovation was given because of the senators approval of buying the fickle favors of floozies.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:45 am
But I’m convinced that you could not be relied upon to show up.
That’s a fact; when it’s time to make money, I always choose that over – well, over almost everything.
But, hey! When Michael schedules the next bi-partisan happy hour, show up.
And if it’s not snowing, or have other opportunities to increase my wealth, I will too.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:55 am
Mark, I know you’re challenged in your ignorance, but today, there’s a newfangled thingy called “google” – where people like you can check things on you own, were you not so challenged in your ignorance.
If you were to simply google “David Vitter Standing Ovation” you, too, could find items like this:

When Sen. David Vitter, R-La., showed up in Washington, D.C., again last week after hiding with the equivalent of a paper bag on his head, he was welcomed back to a closed Republican Senate luncheon with a loud standing ovation.
Vitter had fled after admitting that he was included on a private telephone list of johns made public by the so-called “Washington madam,” Deborah Jean Palfrey, whom law enforcement officials accuse of running a prostitution ring. Vitter didn’t publicly deny anything, saying only that he had sinned and was sorry. He is refusing to discuss the subject further.Hmm.
Judging by their enthusiastic greeting, his GOP chums didn’t seem to mind that the hypocrisy level in the nation’s capital — always high — just zoomed upwards into outer space.
Isn’t this the same “family values” crowd so eager to impeach President Clinton for an adulterous dalliance with a White House intern? Vitter himself, then a House member with higher ambitions, was one of the president’s harshest critics, calling Clinton “morally unfit to govern.” Vitter also wrote in the New Orleans Times-Picayune that if no “meaningful action” was taken to punish Clinton “his leadership will only further drain any sense of values left to our political culture.”
(more, at Times Herald-Record)
January 16th, 2009 at 10:43 am
Since the Democrats have absolutely no morals, I am pretty sure I have heard them say that a person’s private life is nobody’s business and is off limits about a thousand times.
Clinton committed the crime of perjury, Vetter did not. There is a big difference here, but since it involved their poster child Billy Bob, it’s a double standard.
Looks like leaving personal lives alone isn’t true along with 99% of everything else that is uttered by Democrats. Would you expect anything less from them?
Franken and Geithner are typical of the Democrats who don’t think the rule of law doesn’t apply to them. They want you to pay your taxes, but pay theirs only when they get caught.
January 16th, 2009 at 10:49 am
“Yet Gary Studds of Massachusetts seduced a young male House page, defied the House when it censured him and was re-elected several times. But Dan Crane of Illinois had sex with a female page, cried and begged forgiveness on the floor of the House and lost his next election.”
January 16th, 2009 at 10:55 am
“Yet Gary Studds of Massachusetts seduced a young male House page, defied the House when it censured him and was re-elected several times.”
So, do you think the locals in Mark Olson’s district had the “right” to endorse him for the state Senate, after his little legal escapade?
January 16th, 2009 at 11:25 am
Sure , I’m just pointing out what a hypocritical POS you are Flounder.
January 16th, 2009 at 11:28 am
As long as we’re on the hypocrisy of Democrats, I couldn’t help but notice the lack of concern over the cost of Obama’s inauguration.
Back in 2005, Democrats were complaining about the high cost of George W’s second inauguration. The total cost was around $42.3 million, which when adjusted for inflation, was less than Clinton’s.
Lo and behold, the “messiah’s” inauguration is going to cost between $150-160 million! The federal govt. budgeted $49 million for this event. Where’s the outrage from the mealy mouth Democrats who were beside themselves back in 2005?
How many homeless could be clothed and fed for a year on this excess? How many college educations could be funded? How much in health care costs could be negated with this money? How many day cares could be sustained? The list of giveaways the Democrat Party pretends to champion is endless, but you won’t see any criticism of the annoited one.
Obamy is nothing but a fraud along with the majority of liberals in the party of hypocrisy that has become the Democrat Party. Come on Schumer, Clinton, Frank, etc., where’s the outrage? Had this been a Republican President, it would be the main news topic for weeks. It’s unfortunate that again, the rules don’t apply to them.
January 16th, 2009 at 11:43 am
Actually, Wade, you’re not making your point at all.
Mark Foley was, and remains, completely within his rights to seek elective office, and if the citizenry elected him, serve.
Personally, I think they’d be nuts to elect Olson – but hey – it’s their choice.
Oh, and Rash Disptick?
Of course it’s going to cost more for Obama; more people want to see him get sworn in after his election than people wanted to see Dumbya get sworn in after Dumbya’s selection.
Damn, you’re (cheney)in’ stupid, Rash.
The same as I think that the voters in Studd’s districk are wacko, too.
January 16th, 2009 at 11:45 am
Imagine that – another “conservative” posting a link to full frontal male nudity.
Chili, why do you think it’s “ok” to post to full frontal male nudity, on Michael’s blog?
January 16th, 2009 at 12:07 pm
I won’t feed the troll here, but the response to my questions was nonsensical as usual.
Also, I don’t see any nudity here on MDE even though Flounder keeps asking for it. I’m sure there are plenty of free sites he can go to to satisfy his obvious perversions.
Posting a link to his facebook here on MDE is uncalled for and it ruined my lunch.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
Rash, my response was spot-on.
The number of American Citizens going to W.D.C. to celebrate Obama’s inaguration is projected to shatter records for attendance.
The citizenry is exceedingly motivated to witness The End Of An Error.
And all of those citizens will be spending dough; putting money into the hands of business owners large and small; from ownership of large hotel chains to small street vendors.
And yet you bitch.
Why do you hate America, and it’s hard-working business owners, Rash?
January 16th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
I notice that Tommy feels triumphant and crows that I am ignorant. Someone should tell him that the arbiter of truth is not Google. All a search engine does is find something that appears on the Web that matches the word string selected. The example he gave DOES NOT prove what I asked Tommy to prove, and that is that Vitter’s fellow senators gave him a standing ovation BECAUSE he used prostitutes. I specified that one cannot simply link those two happenings together. The ovation is far better explained by other factors, most likely their approval of Vitter’s determination not to resign in the face of two-faced, hypocritical and over-blown outrage from the left/Democrats.
I’m quite good at digging out the truth and making distinctions. I’ve forced authors to admit mistakes in publications as widely-ranging as a Norwegian genealogical journal and an outdoor magazine. I’ve also done battle with 9-11 Troofers and poor deluded souls who think they dowse for gold and treasure using a map, on the internet. One of the most important things to keep in mind is the limitation of search engines and Wikipedia. Lefties are overly credulous in that respect.
Hey, everyone. Please stop coming up with the sexual insults and male nudity links. I know it enrages the trolls, so I can understand the motivation, but it also dismays me. And for the trolls, I’ve had numerous slams hurled my way regarding my intelligence, my parentage, my sexual orientation, the size of my penis, the extent of my sexual experience and more, all of it far from the truth. Don’t whine that you are the innocent victims of this, because all of the crap dumped on me was by the left/Dems.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
Flounder forgets that I had a fairly laughable talk with him at the Hopkins VFW several years ago.
Remember Flounder? you kept calling Bush a draft dodger and I kept reminding you that the Sinkmaster was never in any service making you and your fawning support for F’ng Kerry blatantly hypcrtical.( it’s “Seared in my mind” LOL)
You’re still a buffoon for the libtards.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
Tommy
Four years ago GWB was criticized for having a much smaller Inauguration because of a
tsunami that happened a month earlier. Liberals said that it was insensitive.
(Tommy tsunami is pronounced soo-nah-mee; it means big tidal wave)
In 2009 – after two years of Democratic control of congress that has put us into a economic turmoil – Obama is going to spend three times as much. Don’t you think it would be wise for democrats to at least pretend they care about the people losing their jobs?
Obama is going to spend 150 million on bling! Where are the liberal cries for sensitivity now?
January 16th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
In 2009 – after two years of Democratic control of congress that has put us into a economic turmoil

Chili:
You are confusing the trolls with facts and figures. Remember, they base everything on feelings, not fact.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Chile, you MORON – early last year, Boy Blunder was claiming the economy was fundamentally strong. Then, when he couldn’t hide it any longer, he claimed he had to become more socialist than Chavez.
But you’re claiming it’s the Democrat’s fault; that it started with the new congress in January 2007???!?
That’s why people don’t believe you bootlickers anymore; you make shit up.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
Rash, your Boy Blunder didn’t veto a republiCon spending bill for six (cheney)in’ years – your party spent like drunken sailors.
But you blame Democrats for the economic mess we’re in??!?
The mess we’re in, is why you’ll never see the GOP holding all the levers of power again, in your lifetime:
GOPers run on the platform “government doesn’t work” – then they get in the majority and prove it.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Tommy
The DJIA stands for Dow Jones Industrial Average. It is based on the performance of 30 major stocks and is considered to be the bellwether for the entire stock market.
A year ago, the DJIA was still at about $12,500 and the economy doing okay. It was a bout 6 months ago that the DJIA began to feel the effect of our liberal legislators.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
It was a bout 6 months ago that the DJIA began to feel the effect of our liberal legislators.
Really? And what “liberal legislation” was it, that caused the DJIA to tank?
Specifically.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
Hey Flounder,
I own a business, do you? I’m not talking about snow shoveling either or that phony posting you made to reference your porn addiction and photo of your hobbies. Even though it has been said that any advertising is good advertising, you have proved this wrong with your facebook entry. My company actually pays taxes and is incorporated by the state unlike your porn site.
Since I can safely say with certainty that you don’t even make as much annually as I pay in taxes, I don’t want my tax dollars spent on a lavish inauguration when the money could be spent on causes the Democrats pretend to care about.
If Obama had any class, he would have forgone the event and tried to set an example of “real change” by diverting the money to a good cause. Unfortunately for us taxpayers (which I’m quite sure you aren’t one of), we get to pay for a coronation that costs more than 3 times as much as his predecessor’s did.
Fortunately, Obama is going to have try and undo the damage done by Reid, Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic clowns that got us into this mess.
Two years of Democrat control of congress has put us in this recession and Obama’s clock is running to get us out. I don’t think building playgrounds and windmills will have the desired effect of getting us on the road to recovery. I guess the new 2010 GOP controlled congress will have to undo the damage caused as has historically been the case when liberals are in control.
January 16th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Two years of Democrat control of congress has put us in this recession
Bullshit.
And the American voters don’t believe your bullshit, either.
Doesn’t it burn your ass, that more Americans trust Democrats to be fiscally responsible and more able to run the economy?
But, look at the bright side – people don’t trust your party for the old-fashioned reason: you’ve EARNED it.
January 16th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
You know it looks to me as if Timothy Geithner was negligent paying of his income taxes. What I don’t get is why these Democrats don’t use a distinguished firm (as a filter) to do their taxes. I mean if Timothy Geithner were to pick a reputable firm and submit everything he could submit just to be careful then if there were problems he could blame the firm. If the firm disagreed with an issue then they could deal with that using the proper legal channels. It’s as if Timothy Geithner had “out of sight out of mind” way of thinking. This absent minded loose thinking is not one that goes well with Treasury Secretary.
January 16th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
I think it’s hilarious that the ReBublican crying outrage about Obama’s inauguration say he should use the money for things like feeding the homeless. Not even for a second would you consider doing that with the money. Those people on the streets don’t deserve that money as far as you’re concerned. What you really mean to say is, “take some of that money and give it back to me! I’ve earned it!!” Can’t you guys actually come up with something believable?
January 16th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
Integrity,
You should read back a couple of weeks when I challenged one of your own to give money to the poor. We didn’t exchange gifts for Christmas in my family this year, we gave it to a number of charities including donations to Minnesota Food Share and 2nd Harvest.
So of course, you are wrong again. Just because you would never consider giving to charity, doesn’t mean other people don’t do it.
You should try it sometime rather than only thinking of yourself.
January 16th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
I am not a rich man, although I do give money when I can. I still give however. I give something more valuable than money alone; I give my time. Granted charities need money to operate, but in the absence of my ability to give money often, I give my time.
I applaud you for giving money to those charities you mentioned instead of exchanging gifts with your family. I am impressed.
January 16th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Integrity,
And I applaud you also for your contributions of both time and money!
I was wrong.
January 16th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Tommy, you deserve being called an asshole now. I would be glad to reveal my identity and proof of the things I claim to a truly neutral party, but there is no way in hell I’m going to let you know anything directly about my identity and CV. A Google search, which you’re so fond of, will show, among other things, that correction in the Norwegian genealogical journal, Den Norsk Slektshistorisk Tidsskrift. I’d also be happy to provide proof to a neutral party that I had no trouble whatsoever getting into Mensa, since you cruds insist on calling me a moron. But, again, I wouldn’t trust a slimeball with any identifying information about me.
January 16th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
Mark,
Good choice in staying anonymous. I believe Michael has had his house vandalized by a certain political party’s members.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:14 am
Time=Money and Money=Time….oh..sorry got to go!
January 17th, 2009 at 7:58 am
You’re a real legend in your own mind, Mark.
January 17th, 2009 at 9:08 am
Tommy, all of my life I’ve had to suffer with envious jerks. You just can’t stand the idea that someone else is brighter and better informed than you are. I notice that you don’t really address the points of my comments, just get all pissy. A good therapist might be able to help you work through your feelings of inadequacy.
January 17th, 2009 at 10:09 am
Mark, Democrats exist by promoting class envy. Tommy won’t admit that the Democrats are responsible for the current recession.
The recession started with the banking industry debacle. The root cause of that was the Community Reinvestment Act. Democrats thought it was a neat idea to put people into homes they could not afford.
If you want to live by socialistic policies then be prepared to die by socialistic policies.
Tommy, why don’t you provide everyone with your mom’s address? Then everyone would know where you live.
January 17th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
Chili, it’s not just class envy. Try IQ envy and penis envy. Poor Tommy doesn’t have to worry about competing with me. My penis is only barely longer than average, although it is thicker. However, I am completely secure about it, and only my beloved Susan gets to view it and use it. I am reasonably proficient in its use and I know which orifices of which gender it belongs in. I could care less if some of these trolls envy it or desire it. As far as IQ goes, none of these trolls are even in the same ballpark. Poor fools. Tommy doesn’t have what it takes to even enter an intelligence comparison with me. Now, cue the moonbat howls of outrage in three, two, one….
January 17th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
Quit crying.
The Republicans will get another shot to run for the White House against Hillary in 2016.

Dash, you should do some research before you open your mouth and prove your ignorance and ability to tow the party line.
The cost comparison between the two inaugurations did not include the cost for security for bush in 2005. In fact, this is the first time in history that the cost for security has been estimated and reported beforehand, hence the large initial number for Obama’s inauguration.
Also, this figure of $160 million for the Obama event was first reported as a “could reach as high as” number in the New York Daily News. The Daily News folks. Then the windbags over at Fox and Friends ran with that as fact the next morning. And being good republicans, you all stuck to the mantra of, “if you repeat something often enough, it becomes the truth.”
Well, guess what. The New York Times did some digging and found that when you factor in the security expense of the Bush events in 2005, the total tab was around $157 million. Not that much different than the $160 ESTIMATE for the Obama event.
It’s called fact checking. I wish people would learn how to do it.

Dash said: “Two years of Democrat control of congress has put us in this recession”
I’ll second that BS nomination.
The democratic-controlled senate hasn’t been able to do jack squat for the past two years. Due to their own ineptitude and republican stalling.
This economic train wreck has been years in the making. The problem is too many MBAs in finance running around coming up with tricks and schemes to make the bottom line look good. And it’s all catching up with us now.

AC,
So you’re saying security cost $115 million and you use the New York Times as a credible source? Pretty funny.
Talk about towing the party line. I guess the libs will believe anything in support of their position, no matter how ridiculous.
And I stand corrected regarding getting nothing done in congress. The Democrat controlled House and Senate has managed put the economy on the verge of a depression in two short years.
That’s quite an accomplishment but not one I would be proud of if my party was the cause. Thanks for taking what was a fairly strong economy and putting us back to where Jimmy Carter had us in the late 70’s. Obama’s presidency starts tomorrow, and I expect results. It’s already proven numerous times that you can’t tax your way out of a recession/depression. High defecits, high unemployment, more bailouts, are all results of Democrat control.

The AP has a story titled “Obama Hosting Pricey Party in a Dicey Economy” released yesterday.
Every source has admitted that Obama’s inauguration will be the most expensive in history, even when the price tags for security is added to Bush’s and Clinton’s.
Pretty hypocritical in bad financial times to say the least. I don’t see any of the comments made by Weiner D-NY or McDermott D-Wash in 2005 repeated by the Democrats for Obama’s excesses. Reports do say that the Democrats are concious of costs and have cut back on floral arrangments at the 10 balls that are taking place. How wonderful that they are concerned about taxpayers paying for flowers.
In all fairness, it’s been about 2,000 years since we had a savior make an appearance here on earth. He had better start with quite of a few miracles if he plans on saving the Democrats in two years.
Let’s start off with tax cuts for all Americans. This would be quite a miracle coming from a Democrat!
