MARC AMBINDER: “PROVOCATION OF THE DAY: COLEMAN COULD STILL WIN”

By Ryan Flynn | January 16, 2009

In some ways, Al Franken’s 225 vote lead the Minnesota Senate race is an illusory number. That’s his margin after the state canvassing board completed its recount. Why isn’t he in the Senate?

Thank Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, in trying to delay Blagojevich’s appointment from taking the seat, stated for the record that unless Roland Burris presented a valid certificate of election, he wouldn’t be welcomed to the Senate.

The Minnesota canvassing board doesn’t certify a winner; it simply certifies a count. Here we are in the contest phase. In legal terminology, it’s a de novo trial – totally new. It’s not an appeal of the canvassing board’s decision.

First, Coleman will try to establish that the canvassing board count isn’t complete – that is, there are still uncounted ballots from a variety of sources. The canvassing board concedes this. The Minnesota State Supreme Court concedes this. Even Al Franken’s legal team has conceded this, contending in a brief to the contest judges that certain ballots lawfully cast for him have not yet been counted due to irregularities. Not all the ballots have been counted, fine. The contest board is specifically charged with establishing an accurate vote count.

Holy shit, Mark Dayton is going to run for governor? That would be “Governor Goofy” on steroids.

I’m pretty sure the last person wee need for governor is douche bag Dayton… that silly s.o.b. will probably surrender the capitol and evacuate St. Paul if someone threatens to place a flaming bag of dog poo on his front step.

Mark Dayton, what a silly, stupid piece of shit.

How do you really feel, Chestnut? :)

Chestnut has lost all credibility here because of his immature demeanor and vile attacks.

    Chestnut

I wouldn’t have used your phraseology, but I agree with your message. The last thing we need as the Governor of Minnesota is a “run away, run away” weenie.

I kinda thought your comment towards me of “fuck you” was sorta of immature and a vile attack. I’ve nevered even come close to saying that to you. Why the double standard?

What a dipstick. Chestnut can’t even find the right post to comment on. What is it with you wingnuts anyway? Can’t spell. Illiterate. Can’t even respond to the right post. Are you all as drunk as Swiftee?

danbrome you must be projecting again…remember you promised to watch out for this behavior….also your earlier post (not on this post’s topic) saying I was off was ridiculous. Most people remember the press conference (before the hand count when Coleman still had a substantial lead) where he talked about how the hand recounts were really basically for the loser to know they had lost and that it was up to the party with less votes to either concede or choose to carry out the hand count. This is fact. If you disagree with this fact you are plain goofy. Look it up! It’s verifiable fact on video!

danbrome lost all credibility the moment he started using overtly effeminate jibberish.

That photo that you asked Jake to post is a fake.
You superimposed yourhead onto a body that weighs bout 1/3 of yours.

Readers of MDE have better things to do than look at your fantasy photos.

I hate to admit it, but the photo is pretty funny. Flounder looks as happy as can be, and his head is about three times the normal size.

It’s like a bad cartoon or a car accident. You don’t want to look but it can’t be helped.

Gayest? You are one ignorant fool.

danbrome: “Jake.. Gayest? You are one ignorant fool”

You may have a point. Jake should have given that distinction to you. You were robbed!

Jake, please give danbrome consideration in the future.

    Chili,

If you want a good laugh, read some of the comments people have written over there. When I read that one poster called Flounder and dan the Sphincter Boys, I almost choked from laughter. I’m sure glad that the Franken supporters pointed out that satire should be appreciated, and takes a sophisticated sense of humor to understand.

    Pretty funny stuff.
