MNGOP: “THEY SAID IT! SEN. TIM JOHNSON ON MINNESOTA’S U.S. SENATE RECOUNT”

    By Ryan Flynn | January 16, 2009

“(Sen. Tim) Johnson, who won re-election with 63 percent of the vote in November, said Congress should not jump into the fray. ‘I will leave that up to the people and the courts of Minnesota, just as the nation left it up to the people of South Dakota to decide my election,’ Johnson said.” (Faith Bremner, “Thune Backs Coleman’s Challenge,” Argus Leader, January 16, 2009)

So Tim Johnson is saying what everyone else in the world is saying.

What amazing news. I bet my garbage man, pastor and neighbor would do the same. If you want to start a new post saying that, feel free.

    2. chili Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 11:15 am

Leroy, you jackass, when the Albert Lea Tribune said this you went all AlGore on us.

Keep it up and you’ll soon pass danbrome on the idiot list and be ready to challenge Cheeto Boy Johnson.

    3. Tommy Johnson Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 11:18 am

Leroy, what Team Smokescreen is desperately trying to do, is deflect from the fact that Coleman, when in the lead, said Franken should concede and forgo the MANDATORY recount; now that Coleman is behind, he thinks the proper thing to do is explore all legal avenues.

What do republiCons call that, when someone who isn’t a republiCon pulls the ol’ “That Was Then; This Is NOW!!!” flip-flop?

      A flip-flop!

Today’s GOP is consistently inconsistent, and fails to hold it’s own members to standards they insist from the other side.

And the voters know it, as the results of the last two election cycles demonstrate.

    4. danbrome Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 11:30 am

      chili..

Are you proud to be known here as “Sargeant Slander”? Seriously.

    5. Tommy Johnson Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 11:51 am

Dan, what he’s really proud of, is posting links to full frontal male nudity.

      He’s a real “conservative”…..well, by today’s GreedOverPrinciples “standards”.

Are you proud of being a friend of Rachel Hetland, who was shown on TV stealing campaign signs?

      http://gavinsullivan.blogspot.com/2008/09/rachel-hetland-incident.html

    7. Dash Riprock Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 12:00 pm

Considering it was statistically impossible for Franken to win on a recount, Coleman was correct in asking him to concede the day after the election. Norm never expected to have ballots magically found, votes being counted more than once, more votes tallied than there were people who signed in on election day in a number of precincts, and valid votes not being counted at all.

Coleman was naive to think that Franken and the Democrats wouldn’t attempt to steal the election, but since the Dems have a history of this, it shouldn’t have been a surprise. Here lies a major difference in the two parties, the GOP has some integrity while the Dems have little or none and will try to win at all costs, no matter if laws were broken or not. It’s always the end justifies the means with the party of corruption.

If the roles were reversed, we would see Franken doing the same thing. Let the courts hash it out and hopefully we will see some indictments for voter fraud come out of this when it’s all done. I guess the Democrats are worried that they may be exposed, otherwise they should have no problem in a thorough and transparent investigation.

    8. chili Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 12:05 pm

      Dash

One issue Franken doesn’t address is how he received votes – that had no physical paper ballots to support them.

    9. Tommy Johnson Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 12:07 pm

      Rash, you moron – the issue isn’t the recount; it’s Norm’s flip-flopping.

There’s a reason why the recount was mandatory; Coleman didn’t give a flying (cheney) – he called for Franken to hang it up.

Now he won’t do what he said he’d do then; which makes him a bonafide republiCon: “That was then; this is NOW!!!.”

    10. PlymouthDem Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

“Considering it was statistically impossible for Franken to win on a recount, Coleman was correct in asking him to concede the day after the election. Norm never expected to have ballots magically found, votes being counted more than once, more votes tallied than there were people who signed in on election day in a number of precincts, and valid votes not being counted at all.”

Ummm.. what? Statistically impossible? When exactly did you stop taking math classes? First grade? Any statistical model that takes into account Minnesota’s voter intent standard, past shifts in voting totals, and the error rate of optical scanning would conclude that a several hundred vote shift one way or the other with a sample of 3M voters is not only possible, it’s probable.

    11. Dash Riprock Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 12:16 pm

      Chili,

You are correct. I guess when there was a cry to let every vote count, the Democrats were referring to votes that weren’t even cast. They didn’t even bother using dead people to vote, they just conjured up votes out of thin air.

Brilliant, except they will be caught doing so.

    12. danbrome Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 12:33 pm

      Coincidence?

    14. AC Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Dash Riprock, you must have failed statistics.

It was NOT statistically impossible for Franken to overtake Coleman in the recount.

    15. Leroy Jenkins Says:

    18. Proud Republican Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 2:06 pm

      Rash, you moron – the issue isn’t the recount; it’s Norm’s flip-flopping.
      Tommy Johnson

Tommy Johnson I disagree with you and don’t consider Norm Coleman’s actions as flip flopping. At the time it was overwhelmingly thought by the vast majority that Senator Coleman had won. Mark Ritchie implied at the time that the recount was basically to prove that the loser lost. He said that the person with the lower vote total could step aside and avoid a long drawn out hand recount. Coleman was just repeating the basic view of the Secretary of State. Pick a different issue.

      Wow.

Seriously, do you REALLY think that? The vast majority of people, the morning after the election, did not think Coleman had had “won.” They thought there would be a recount. Ritchie wasn’t talking to Franken, he was talking to whoever lost the recount, that when most people go through a recount they realize they’ve lost. He was talking to Coleman.

The quality of republicans on this site is truly disappointing.

    20. Zelly Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 2:37 pm

      Agree with you, PlymouthDem.

Earlier this week I posted a complaint about the racist and abusive comments by “Swiftee.” It’s Friday, I check backed in to read up and there’s “Swiftee” posting more of the same.

Ryan/Michael: Gonna allow people like Swiftee to continue to personally attack people with F-bombs, homophobic attacks, racism and overall filth? Second time I’m asking. Hope you two don’t have plans to run for office in the future.

I’m sure you’d delete (and rightfully) if one of the dems on this site posted that way …

    21. Leroy Jenkins Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 2:41 pm

Almost as embarrassing as the quality of lawyers out there willing to represent them in court.

To wit, the Star Tribune is reporting that the lawyer representing Norm’s little Iranian friend, Nasser Kazeminy, in the political bribery case is now joining Coleman’s recount legal team.

First he allegedly buys Norm suits. Then he buys him trips. Soon he is alleged to have given Norm’s wife illegal cash, and now he appears to be trying to help buy his seat back.

What kind of dirt does Norm have on this guy, because, no one with half a brain would pay this much for the limited amount of power Norm offers.

    22. Dash Riprock Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 2:44 pm

      Plymouth,

Of course you are dissapointed, you have people asking legitimate questions of your party and principles, and are exposing the hypocrisy of Democrats at the same time. The name of the blog is Minnesota Democrats Exposed, if you want everyone to be mindless robots and agree with the lies of Democrats, there is no shortage of blogs out there, many that are locally based.

The good news is that you actually get to voice your opinion here, unlike a lot of the liberal blogs who routinely delete or not even bother to post conservative opinions.

Why do you think that is? Instead of some insane or nonsensical response that is typical of liberal postings here, I would like to know what your defense would be since you are from the party that “values all opinions” and pretends to champion free speech.

    23. Dash Riprock Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Speaking of nonsense, Zelly, you saw a couple of postings from liberals using the same language and wishing AIDS on the owner of this blog. I didn’t see them deleted, did you?

Pointing out the hypocristy of the Left could be a full time job, but I have a better idea.

Zelly, if you are truly offended by the language and or postings here, just go away. You look very stupid when you post a request like this.

    24. Wade Seeker Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Obviously Zelly has never been to Duh underground or Koskiddies.

Either that or he’s cherry picking outrage like most libtards.

    25. Zelly Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 3:05 pm

Let me get this clear, Dash. You suggesting I’d perfer a site that doesn’t have racism, homophobic rantings, f-bombs and personal attacks makes me look stupid? Hmmm. Interesting logic.

I’m saying, anyone who posts things like AIDS, personal threatening attacks, f-bombs, and racism should be kicked out by Ryan and Michael. I’m also just saying after regular requests that it would be hard for them to run for an elected office later in life. They are admins to a site that allows this type of hate speak without taking action when they could and should.

Wade: I haven’t been to either of those. Only read this one and MNPub regularly.

      Can we agree on that?

    26. swiftee Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 3:31 pm

Fuck you too, Zelly…you’re another one who just likes to watch his own lips flap.

No one makes you visit here. Don’t like it? Don’t come. You want editorial control? Start your own blog, moron.

Actually, I think the problem is that the republicans here are mindless robots. You see a Ron Carey press release and consider it fact. Notably, you fail to challenge anything I’ve said.

“Why do you think that is? Instead of some insane or nonsensical response that is typical of liberal postings here, I would like to know what your defense would be since you are from the party that “values all opinions” and pretends to champion free speech.”

Why do I give a rat’s ass what liberal (or conservative) bloggers decide to allow or not allow on their sites? I’m just commenting on the mental capacity and logic displayed by some of the republicans who post here.

    28. PlymouthDem Says:

“To wit, the Star Tribune is reporting that the lawyer representing Norm’s little Iranian friend, Nasser Kazeminy, in the political bribery case is now joining Coleman’s recount legal team.”

I seriously do not get Coleman’s hiring of counsel. He at least realizes that Fritz and Tony were getting their ass handed to them by the Perkins Coie lawyers, but, jesus, he hires a criminal trial lawyer to handle his recount challenge? Once again, we’re going to watch while Franken’s Washington fancy pants lawyers embarrass Coleman’s counsel.

    29. Dash Riprock Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 3:41 pm

      Zelly,

No, you look stupid when you target one person’s comments on a open blog when you know a number of people on both sides are using the language. Logic would lead me to believe you are complaining to other sites as well, as you seem so offended. I didn’t see you asking for Flounder Two Putz, danbrom, Leroy to be banned from the site. Why only Swiftee?

I assume you have made this same request to other blogs you have frequented that lean towards the left? Publius refuses to post conservative opinions. I really hope you are putting an end to that with your complaints. Why not try http://www.dailykos.com or even better yet, http://www.dumpbachmann.blogspot.com which is local.

Both of these sites use the fuck word a lot when describing conservatives and discriminate against people they don’t agree with, especially christians. They also do not allow opposing opinions which really is contrary to what liberals propose they stand for.

Let me know how much luck you have over there, and any other lib sites you choose. Will love to see the response you get back. Until that happens, you should stop with the feigned outrage, nobody is believing it until you provide proof that you are doing it elsewhere.

    30. swiftee Says:
      January 16th, 2009 at 3:58 pm

“Hope you two don’t have plans to run for office in the future.”

      pffft.

Yeah, you can’t go around saying you “fucking hate those motherfuckers” and hope to be taken seriously.

Climb back under your rock, you moronic prick, and take your scumbag pals with you.

    31. danbrome Says:

Open slander is not acceptable in any civilized discussion. I don’t care so much about name calling, I can take that… but slander and defamation that is toally contrived for sport is my concern.

I would appreciate if my friends here on MDE could resist the continued flow of untruths about me so we could better “discuss” our political views.

    32. gopstreetfighter Says:

Zelly, you are an idiot with all due respect. You come here and say that the two moderators better not have plans to run for public office while you supported a man that joked about rape, child abuse, the murder of homosexuals, wrote dirty pornography titled porn-o-rama in Playboy, openly called the opposition just about every name in the book, would you like me to go on? You are on pathetic piece of garbage who only sees the faults of the others and not your friends.

    33. swiftee Says:

      Morons

Your uninformed opinions and invective are tiresome and irrelevant. Let’s wait for the oourts – Minnesota and/or Federal – to decide the result of the election. There are a multitude of practical and procedural electoral issues to be reviewed and a Constitutional issue to be addressed. These will be addressed by minds bigger that all of us who post on this blog.

The ideological yapping in the prior 40 comments adds nothing to the debate. It’s all vanity…vanity of vanities. (where have you heard that before?)

Sir, you aren’t on quality control and I’m not a product…although you may consider yourself to be one created by 100% of your environment. Also you’re wrong, wrong and wrong. You put words in my mouth as you pasted them above your comments….kind of sad sir. Sir with all due respect I didn’t say that Ritchie was talking to Franken but if you do a little research you may find him quoted or saying on video (press conference) as Coleman led before the hand count that a recount is basically for the loser to know he has lost. I’m sure many people remember and know what I’m referring too.

Michael and Ryan Flynn, do you really want to allow pictures of male genitals on your blog? isn’t that crossing a line?

Michael, you represent the state of Minnesota now and you are going to allow this? pretty fucking ridiculous.

I understand, you are defeated and giving up on blogging, but still there needs to be some sort of moderation. I mean seriously? allowing people to post links to penis? on this blog?

    44. Proud Republican Says:
      January 17th, 2009 at 12:58 am

Yoni C. obviously they didn’t click on the link. I think it is reasonable for me to assume that these two men are pretty straight-laced. Since this is a conservative website I’m sure this link will be deleted. Thank you for pointing it out since it would have maybe been passed over. This is over the line.

No one belives that this was viewed by these two men but you…or do you? No I don’t think so, this is your idea of fairgame slander unfortunatley all slander is not equal and yours backfires.

    45. Proud Republican Says:
      January 17th, 2009 at 1:06 am

Also, this blog is very well moderated by them both and the consumers of this blog. Also using the f word and acting as if a penis in itself is so awful is…oh I don’t know…revealing? Yeah, revealing. Yoni any genitilia links to this site weather it be a penis or vagina is inappropriate for the nature of this site. You must teach womens’ studies.

      PR,

wow nice spin. I guess my point is links to porno will not enhance Michael’s image or the image of this blog. But the fact that it was posted by someone who was trying to slander a liberal blogger in the process will almost guarantee its not being deleted.

I guess the poster’s warning of a link to small penises was an indication that if there is any moderation going on at all it would be taken care of.

danbrome often posts things about himself, using a different name. Then he makes a big deal about to make himself the center of attention.

Were you the one who said you wished both Michael and Ryan died from AIDS?

You don’t sound like a dude. You sound like a self-righteous bitch.

No pornographic links have been posted. Most any anatomy book would include a picture of a penis. The “warning” was include because Tommy made a big deal about it. People who read this warning were able to decide whether or not click on the link. I have no doubt that Tommy Johnson and danbrome chose to seize the opportunity to view male genitalia.

    48. Yoni C. Says:

As for wishing someone dies of AIDS? are you kidding me? anyways people aren’t even dying of AIDS to much anymore that is so 1980s

and what do I have to do w/ danbrome? I post under one name and have posted under this name since my first post almost a year ago.

I think it should be up to Michael and Ryan whether the posting of male genitalia is acceptable on their blog. I would like a clarification from them on this matter.

The life expectancy of AIDS “victims” has increased by many years, due to expensive drug treatments largely paid for by the U.S Government.

How has the gay community responded. They’ve thanked the taxpayer by becoming bug-chasers and gift-givers.

What do you have to do with danbrome?

I have never seen any nudity posted on this blog.
What has been posted is profanity – by both danbrome and Tommy Johnson. It sounds like you’re okay with that.

is calling me a self-righteous bitch not profane?

what is a bug-chaser and gift-giver? why do republicans hate homosexuals so much?

boatee, mine is a face with a name. That’s because I’m a MAN that ALWAYS stands behinds what he says.

If that is the face of the GOP, then you provide a similarly appropriate “face” for the party of Scumbags….an anonymous big mouthed punk saying things hiding behind a keyboard you’d only say in person over your shoulder as you ran away.

      Fuck you too, punk.

In fact, I’ll take that a step further. I challenge all conservatives that visit this blog to start posting their real names. You’ve got nothing to hids.

    54. John McCain Says:
      January 17th, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Calm down my liberal and conservative friends! Let us not stoop to this low level of these loose ejaculating conjectures. Yoni C. I apologize for all my Republican friends who thought you were a woman, although nothing wrong with being a woman. Also, all this consternation about these penis links is really…well weird. I could have passed seeing the sight of that blog and wish I had. You see I trusted but verified.

Anyways Aids is a terrible disease and we should all work together to stop the spread of it by focusing on teaching safe sex to high risk people. If we could get most of these bare back riders to wear a sheath then much of the illness would die out. Now this may be politically incorrect but factually true. Morals aside the way the disease spreads most rampant is through certain sexual practices. Doesn’t matter if the receiver is man or woman. I won’t spell it out in anymore detail. So if we can’t eliminate anal sex then we should demand people wear a strong condom.
It’s in all our best interests to stop this disease since it breaks out in the regular populous in donated blood and spreading through heterosexual sex. People sleeping with someone who has the disease already. We don’t eat monkey in this country so we can’t blame the spread on imported monkey stew!

Alright lets all recess for one hour for lunch!

JM, wiener wrapping was the message that was sent out 20 years ago. Many chose to follow this advice.

As medical treatments have progressed, HIV no longer means automatic death. Think of Magic Johnson (M.A.G.I.C. – My Ass Got Infected, Coach)

The medical treatments are expensive and we all pay for them. If Yoni doesn’t know what a bug-chaser or a gift giver is, then she has no concept of the current problem.

Monkey meat is consumed in the United States, by many of our new residents.

      http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2009-01-05-monkey-liberian_N.htm

Both Barack Obama and Joe Biden have been tested for HIV/AIDS in the past. I don’t know if they were at risk due to “bare-backing”, or eating monkey meat.

And JM, thank you for your service to our country.

What’s Biden’s message? “I’m the most qualified VP since anyone”? … translated, “I’m as good as the next guy.” … and in that regard, I disagree. Biden is not nearly as intelligent as Dan Quayle.

    61. Chestnut Says:

Biden is so fucking stupid, he makes Obama, EEOC candidate, seem qualified. What a dumb fuck.
