COLEMAN CAMPAIGN UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE: “IS THE FRANKEN CAMPAIGN PREVENTING YOUR VOTE FROM BEING COUNTED?”

By Ryan Flynn | January 28, 2009

ST. PAUL – With Al Franken continuing on his campaign to block Minnesotans’ valid votes from being counted, the Coleman for Senate campaign today launched a new website that lets Minnesotans see if their valid votes may be among the thousands that the Franken campaign doesn’t want counted. Earlier in the recount process, the Franken campaign repeatedly insisted that wrongly rejected absentee ballots to be counted, but is now actively trying to stop any votes from being counted as he clings to a temporary and artificial lead.

“Al Franken says he wants to represent you in the Senate, but he does not necessarily want your vote to count,” said Cullen Sheehan, campaign manager. “We created this website so that Minnesotans can see if they may be one of the thousands of voters who Al Franken wants to ignore in order to maintain his temporary and artificial lead.”

On January 23, 2009, the Coleman campaign filed a reverse class action suit on behalf of the nearly 12,000 voters who had their absentee ballots rejected.   The suit means that in addition to the 64 individuals supporting Mr. Franken who already filed a suit, every one of the nearly 12,000 voters would receive the same equal protection under the law to have their votes reviewed and potentially counted.  Following the filing of the suit, Coleman wrote to Mr. Franken asking him to join the Coleman campaign effort to see that all legally cast ballots are counted during the election contest. The Coleman campaign also released a webvideo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHJpUV9VuOg) to highlight the Franken campaign’s flip-flop on the counting of these ballots.

Visit the website at www.colemanforsenate.com:

UPDATE (Ryan): I corrected the link contained in the e-mail from Coleman’s campaign.

COUNT EVERY VALID VOTE!

With the Minnesota Senate election contest trial now underway, the Coleman for Senate campaign continues to fight to ensure that every Minnesota voter has their valid ballot counted and counted only once–and that no voter is disenfranchised in the process or has their vote improperly rejected.

Unfortunately, the Franken campaign continues their efforts to block any additional votes from being counted. In fact, the Franken campaign has now filed a legal motion asking that no additional absentee votes be reviewed, opened or counted. This from a campaign that used to make “count every vote” their mantra–at least until it was no longer politically convenient for them.

The Coleman campaign is presenting to the three-judge panel the names of all the voters whose ballots were improperly rejected in an effort to ensure their votes are counted and their voices heard. The individuals listed on this site are among the Minnesotans whose absentee ballots have not yet been counted. Check below to see if you are one of the thousands of Minnesotans the Franken campaign is seeking to disenfranchise. And please contact us at info@colemanforsenate.com or 1-866-527-6044 to express your support for our effort to have your vote counted.

Heh. What a bunch of hypocrites. Franken’s campaign has always been about counting every legal vote (once). Haven’t you read what the Coleman lawyers have put forward? Team Coleman is trying to reverse the results, disenfranchise voters and count illegal ballots. What a bunch of brainwash bunk from Team Coleman. Sick.

Aaron, shouldn’t you be busy on a pottery tour, or rating pizza’s?

    Loser…

The problem is, the whole recount process as it exists today, allowing for hand recounts by biased humans, creates the temptation and opportunity to corrupt and steal elections. Recounts should only be done by nonbiased machines. Once a vote is rejected by a machine, it should never be recounted. If the machine is faulty and rejects some valid ballots, it will do so randomly and equally, without political bias, and should not statistically change the final election result. Instead of recounting such rejected votes, the machine should be recalibrated, fixed or retired. Voting machines will never be perfect because they are created by humans. But unlike humans, machines will never be politically biased unless they are specifically designed that way.

As a member of the recount process on behalf of Al Franken as a recount observer, I feel that the recount process was very fair and that because there was bias, on both sides, that the votes were counted fairly and according to the rules. Coleman’s time is up. He got in the back door and he has decided to leave in shame.

His court arguments are silly and when all is said and done, he can’t win. I can’t wait until this is over with and we can finally have equal representation in the senate.

Ryan, why did you say “contact us” at the end of the last post? Are you working for Coleman? Mike can show you have to make some good money as a “part time research consultant”…

Aaron, not true. Every legal vote was counted the first time. Franken became dependent on the recount which would be count #2.

It’s basic arithmetic, see danbrome if you need help cause he has a degree in arithmetic.
