COLEMAN FOR U.S. SENATE PRESS RELEASE: “THOUSANDS OF HITS CRASH COLEMAN WEBSITE”
By Ryan Flynn | January 28, 2009

ST PAUL – Information recently added to the Coleman for Senate website, whereby people can find out which Minnesota voters the Franken campaign is trying to disenfranchise, has resulted in the website being inundated by tens of thousands of hits today – temporarily crashing the website.
“Minnesotans and folks across the country are fed up with Al Franken’s efforts to disenfranchise thousands of Minnesota voters, and the overwhelming response we received to making this information public is proof positive of that fact,†said Campaign Manager Cullen Sheehan. “The Franken campaign’s ongoing effort to quash votes is clearly not sitting well with Minnesotans, and we intend to continue fighting for each and every one of these voters who deserve to have their valid vote counted.â€
The new Coleman website features a page where voters can search a database to determine if their vote is one of the thousands of voters the Franken campaign is seeking to disenfranchise. The website is currently unavailable, but the campaign is actively working to remedy the problem.

Worst spin ever. I know how this shit works and there is no way that the amount of traffic they got was the cause of the website being down. That’s pure BS.
January 28th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
So the fact that you linked to the administrative backend of this website probably doesn’t mean anything, right? Like, you’re not actually working with the Coleman campaign or anything…
January 28th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
For point of comparison, I manage websites that get millions of “hits.” No big deal. That and the traffic that colemanforsenate.com got during the election didn’t take their site down. I don’t see any possible way that this little push would have done anything. Give me a break.
(Note that in the link, those are visitors, not “hits.” Each visitor contributes a significant amount of “hits” individually as far as webstats go.)
January 28th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Wouldn’t the list being provided by the Coleman campaign also be a list of those that Coleman was trying to disenfranchise at the beginning of the recount? Does it point that out on the former senator’s campaign website?
Also, how did a “stupid, smelly Democrat” manage to out smart the ReBublicans and steal this election? Ryan…please advise.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
BTW your link to colemanforsenate.com is busted. By the looks of the URL, you must have copied it from outlook web access. That is the second one today.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
[...] Team Coleman’s blogger at MDE, Ryan Flynn, posted a tidbit today: “THOUSANDS OF HITS CRASH [...]
January 28th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
Yep. Have to agree with the rest. Ryan pretty well outed himself as the webmaster of the new Coleman site when he accidentally posted the administrative link to the site rather than the actual address link.
But nice try. I will believe your denials nearly as much as I believe the premise of the post, which is that so many people tried to view the site that it crashed. To work off a now famous quote from Coleman’s upcoming bribery case, that is a load of (Expletive deleted) and everyone knows it.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Worst spin ever. I know how this shit works and there is no way that the amount of traffic they got was the cause of the website being down. That’s pure BS.
I know how this shit works too. The site got linked to by Drudge. It got Farked. By Drudge.
So yeah, it was the hits. Or the visitors. Or whatever.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
no, Aaron is 100% OTM. i’m the webmaster for a Fortune 500 company here in the Twin Cities, that DNS entry proves it’s fake.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
The link is indeed not working, I apologize, it is from a Coleman for Senate press release.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Mnpublius would fold like a cheap suit if it got linked on Drudge’s front page.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
I guess that takes care of it. No matter what Ryan says Leroy won’t believe it.
Wait, he never believes anything that Ryan says so wtf do we care? We don’t.
Enough said.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
So, basically, Coleman’s IT team is as incompetent as his lawyers?
January 28th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
I think the argument is that they’re competent, and liars. Not clear, though.
January 28th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Pete-
People have to earn my trust. Ryan Flynn has yet to add anything of value to the political debate, and, indeed, he has done a number of things like this where his BRAZEN incompetence has shown him to be a bigger hack than the guy who has abandoned this site for lesser and more trivial things.
January 28th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
The Franken campaign has miscalculated where Minneosta stands. We stand as a State that cares about fairness. Liberal and Conservative alike we across the board overwhelmingly value what is right and long lasting over fleeting partisan gain. The Franken campaign should ahere to this response and outrage in order to save face before it is too late.
January 28th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
Proud Republican:
Look at the facts. Franken, from day one, has been consistently about counting every single legal vote once. Coleman has been widely inconsistent and across the board. Google it.
January 28th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
If the Coleman campaign is lying about the web site being crashed by traffic, it does fit with the lies Coleman was telling in his Hannity interview about only ballots from DFL precincts getting counted. It also fits with Coleman’s campaign telling supporters to comment on news sites, but there’s no suggestion they read the articles. It’s as if the Republicans can’t shift from campaign mode to a court contest.
January 28th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Michael and Ryan – Uh, guys – this is pretty blatant and you have been totally busted. So is this your bad or Team Coleman’s? Either way, this demonstates a pretty serious integrity problem somewhere.
January 28th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
It is interesting that the website gets nailed due to high traffic. How can that be? I thought all of the followers of Dear Leader Obama said that people are not interested in this and just want to move on with Franken in the Senate.
Lies and half truths – all from the liberal left. No surprise there…
January 28th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Minnesota Independent is busting this story apart as total B.S. They have some reports coming in from professionals to refute this spun story. Check it out…
http://minnesotaindependent.com/24761/disenfranchised-voters-crash-colemans-site-unlikely-says-blogger
I also work in network administration at the U of M and can tell you that this story is total B.S. Someone behind the scenes of the new Coleman web site messed up. Simple as that.
But please Ryan, keep posting this crap. Each post like this costs you and Coleman credibility. You’re the best weapon for team Franken. Keep up the good work!
January 28th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
Sorry AC but I also have extensive experience on websites and so far all you libtards have is speculation and accustations with nothing to back it up.
But that is all you folks usually have. Keep trying because all intelligent people know that members of the Obama and Franken cults will believe anything you say – they don’t care about the truth anymore than any of you do.
You people are shameless.
January 28th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
So Pete F- since you have so much experience, can you share some of it with us?
Why would they change the DNS for their website to point to 1.1.1.1, an IP address that isn’t valid, and isn’t even theirs?
It seems like you’re the one that’s buying into a cult, here… there’s factual evidence supporting the opposite of what the Coleman people are saying here, and yet you’re ignoring it…
January 28th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
\I know how this shit works\
After having recently spent a few wasted minutes at your “blog” Aaron, I can say with certianty that where “shit” is involved, it is a given you would know all about the inner workings, my friend.
January 28th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
You are a pathetic liar and have been exposed making this website story is made up.
January 28th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
I think I know what is wrong.
The web pipes are full of sh!t at colemanforsenate. We need to bring in a major roto-rooter!
January 28th, 2009 at 9:36 pm
JC, believe what you want. People who do not fully understand technology freqeuntly get confused much like you are but don’t worry about it.
January 28th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
Just saying: when you want to change the post title ’cause you wrote a BS story name, make sure that you change the url: minnesotademocratsexposed.com/2009/01/28/thousands-of-hits-crash-coleman-website/
Better luck next time.
Sean
January 28th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Pete, JC asked you a specific question: Why would they change the DNS for their website to point to 1.1.1.1, an IP address that isn’t valid, and isn’t even theirs?
Since you refused to answer, I think you’re the one that’s confused.
January 28th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
Pete has no fucking clue if he is denying that the 1.1.1.1 A record is not invalid.
jesus christ what kind of koolaid are you drinking
January 28th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
What matters is now. This has nothing to do with politics, indeed if it was the court would have thrown it out. If it was Minnesotan’s would not be going to court just so their vote cast on election counts. This is serious. The point is now all that matters is that we’ve reached a late stage in this testy process and many absentee ballots in heavily Democrat areas were counted so now all absentee ballots must be considered. All ballots must have same consideration. If Franken hadn’t started the absentee digging then he would have won. In an adversary court where to groups duke it out with fair oversight many times this competition results in the highest product: Justice. Let me be clear the judges and officials referee the contest the lawyers can only make motions. If anyone does not like the way this election is going just remember Franken would be Senator if he hadn’t dug into this issue at the start. Once some ballots are counted so must all the rest of the same like.
Senator Coleman reelect when moved back into his cozy little room in D.C. after settling back in will then make arrangements to meet with Senator Reid and make up over a strong drink.
Hey it’s politics nothing personal.
Coleman is well liked and respected in the U.S. Senate. He is the only candidate in this contest qualified to be U.S. Senator. 100 years ago the U.S. Senate would have refused to confirm a man who makes a living by using the lowest grade of obscenity. “Porno-rama?!!! Sex with animals? Rape of women…this is supposed to be funny?” We have standards here!†The leaders of the senate would declare.
January 28th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
RP, you obviously haven’t been following the proceedings.
As far as “the lowest grade of obscenity”, I’ll see your Franken, and raise you a Cheney.
Cheney, of course, went to the Senate, and yelled at a Senator:
“Hey! Senator!! Go (cheney) yourself!!!”
Cheney, of course, refused to apologize; he went on Fox News and said “it needed to be said.”
Oh, and PR? You do realize why Cheney’s SS handle was “Big Time”, doncha?
If you don’t, link here:

January 28th, 2009 at 11:36 pm
Right now we need to pull together to ensure justice is preserved. All absentee ballots need the same consideration. Everyone who’s ballot was thrown out needs theirs reviewed not just from MPLS or other areas that favor Franken but from all counties’ precincts. A person who disagrees with this I think has lost their mind. Has the Franken team of lawyers lost their minds?
January 29th, 2009 at 8:48 am
This is a hard call. Is it dishonesty or incompetence? GOP through-and-through, that we know is so, in either case.
January 29th, 2009 at 9:04 am
I suppose earlier comments are correct, fake crash or not, close out the recount and seat Franken.
Then Norm can go full time on Nasser Kazeminy’s payroll, without any conflicting interests. Laurie can sell insurance. Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on. “Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face …”
January 29th, 2009 at 9:11 am
Tommy boy get your plump little money maker back to my cell right away.
Aint nobody tosses salad like you beotch.
January 29th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
Jeff, do you eat with that mouth? You mother must be so proud.
Frankly if you guys are such idiots that you don’t understand any of this you should stop posting here – you are only making fools of yourselves.
January 29th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Team Coleman withdrew their challenge to the results of the Maplewood precinct this morning; plus three Petitioners withdrew their claims:
District Court Filing
It’s been a bad week for Team Coleman’s legal team.
January 29th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Perhaps you’re right Petef but this is the first time I’ve seen Tommy Johnson post a comment without throwing his strained pea lunch at the room. Maybe tough love really does work and after a few meals of humble pie Tommy can come sit at the adult table.
January 29th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
I really have my doubts. The first time someone disagrees with him he will go totally Democrat and starting slinging his usual BS.
However I would be happy to eat my words if I should turn out to be wrong.
January 29th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
How can any of you people really knwo what happened? As someone said, the site was linked to by Drudge. I dont care if you are the web master for a fourune 500 company (which by teh way- check your mail box. You were probably laid off today) or the web master for your own blog. IF you were not part of the happeneings, you really dont knwo what happened. Al Franken is trying to slide his way into the Senate seat. It’s amazing how he screamed for legal intervention when Coleman was ahead. Now that the tainted recounts favor him, he’s all about doing “the best thing for Minensota and seating someone in the vacant seat”. When it’s him going to the Senate, he’s all about unifying and doing whats right. What a fake and a fraud. This clown doesnt deserve to be elected dog catcher let alone State Senator! http://www.mntruth.blogspot.com- Comment all you want there.
January 29th, 2009 at 11:16 pm
I mis typed my own blog entry! (Obviously I am not the web master of a Fortune 500 company like some on here! By the way, dod you egt your pink slip yet?? haha!)
It’s http://mntruth.blogspot.com/
January 30th, 2009 at 7:38 am
If that’s the first you’ve seen, JoeSix, then you haven’t been paing attention.
I’d rather not participate in the foodfight, but hey – I used to be in the GOP, so I can play that game, too.
Michael recently asked everyone to tone it down; I happen to believe that Michael is a decent guy (although I disagree with his politics) and it’s his blog and people should abide by his wishes – and I’m more than happy to do just that.
The question is, which of those regular (im)posters aren’t?
January 30th, 2009 at 7:47 am
Say, Pete?
I used to be a GOPer; I grew up in a GOPer home. Used to be a convener at BPOU.
“Right” around the time Gingrich was taking over is when I split.
When I was a GOPer, Eden Prairie DFLers used to caucus at a table at Perkins. And it was a small table.
But, because of guys like Gingrich, fiscally conservative/socially moderate Republicans have left the party in droves.
Now you have a 3 term DFL State Rep from north Eden Prairie/South Minnetonka, and she’s increased her victory margin the last two wins.
Ten years ago, if you told anyone that would happen, they would have laughed at you.
These days, I see a lot of former GOPers in the DFL. And those Reagan Democrats? They’ll never vote for a GOPer, with the way the current GOP operates.
The GOP is in serious trouble – and unfortunately, it sure looks like they aren’t in any hurry to fix it.
January 31st, 2009 at 7:39 pm
Tommy, It is because of people like you joing the DFL that I left and joined the GOP. The Democrats used to stand for something, for the working man. Bt now they stand for left wing special interests and a very strong hate of big business. Given time and power the left will take over buisness and give the power to their union buddies. As far as I’m concerned the union leadership is the same as the execs who run big business.
The left is the party of PETA, global warming fanatics, and every perverted special interest group there is.
You can have the DFL. Rather than leave the Republican party like you say you did I will stay and work to fix the problems. I don’t run when the work gets difficult.
February 1st, 2009 at 9:08 am
The left is the party of PETA.”
Yes, we are the party of People Eating Tasty Animals. And next saturday, I’m gonna thaw some pheasants and eat them, too.
…global warming fanatics,,,
Yes, here on terra firma, there is global warming. I don’t know what’s happening on your world, Pete – and I don’t care.
and every perverted special interest group there is.
Yeah, “right.” Maybe you can get David Vitter to hold hearings in D.C.
Maybe Vitter will subpoena Grunseth to see what’s happened here, in Minnesota.
And I’m glad you’re staying in the GOP; with activists like you, the GOP will be the minority party for a long time.
In case you’ve forgotten, the voters don’t like your type very much, Pete.
February 1st, 2009 at 10:08 am
Tommy, actually they do like my type Tommy. They do not like people of your ilk who continue the devisive tactics and policies of the left. Obama is continuing those polices in his administration and sooner or later the people will see that fact.
You go ahead play your little games Tommy. You and your ilk think you have long term power and I would like to see you to continue those thoughts.
The DFL has resided over the economic collapse in the last two years. Two more years of failure by the left and the people will be ready to throw you bums out.
Get used to it Tommy. The left is in charge. They have to perform. So far all the left is doing is backing away from their promises made during the election. People are noticing.
2 years and you’re out. I can’t wait.
February 1st, 2009 at 10:10 am
Tommy, even some of the experts are backing away from global warming. They are now saying the earth is moving into a cooling period. We are actually starting to see our climate change to what it was 30-40 years ago.
Global warming is a myth. As they say, Al Gore did not create the internet but he did create global warming.
February 1st, 2009 at 1:34 pm
“The DFL has resided over the economic collapse in the last two years.”
Yeah, “right.”
That statement that you made, is the exact reason why the GOP lost the last two election cycles, and will continue to lose in election cycles:
You and your ilk simply refuse to tell the truth.
February 1st, 2009 at 1:42 pm
Tommy, are you saying the Democrats did not control the Minnesota and Federal Legislatures?
Get real Tommy – you can only ignore the facts for so long. All of these problems came to a head under their watch and they did NOTHING to prevent it.
I know we won’t agree on this but I have the advantage of being correct. If you don’t think I have been please point out exactly what in this post is incorrect and explain to me what the liberals did to prevent these problems the last two years.
I will wait Tommy…
February 1st, 2009 at 4:41 pm
3 hours and waiting…
February 1st, 2009 at 6:06 pm
I was right, Tommy was wrong. He obviously could not find one thing wrong with my statements.
February 2nd, 2009 at 1:11 am

If you follow this link you will get to witness Aaron continuing to lie about this problem.
February 2nd, 2009 at 6:24 pm
All of these problems came to a head under their watch…
Pete, you’ve made the first step, and finally admitted that the problems STARTED while the GOP was in control.
Well, almost – Gee Dumbya was still the prez (even though Cheney was the one in charge)
February 3rd, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Whimpy, you certainly are dense. The Democrats have been in charge for 2+ years now. Are you so ashamed of them that you can’t even admit that they have been in control for the past 2 years?
It must really suck to be you puddles.
March 12th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
