DFL GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES
By Ryan Flynn | February 18, 2009
I wanted to do a follow up to the post on Mayor Coleman regarding the entire field of DFL candidates for their party’s Gubernatorial nomination.
In the race:
Matt Entenza: Will Democrats forget about his Attorney General campaign from 2006 that was nothing short of a disaster? His political rehabilitation operation: mn2020 is churning out paper but is it enough to remake his image? Doubtful. United Health money will definitely come in handy though.
Tom Bakk: Can the iron range get their candidate endorsed?
Susan Gaertner: She seems to be getting some flack from the far left wing of her party for her prosecution of the RNC protest thugs.
Mark Dayton: I don’t think a Governor can close up shop on their office. Not to mention the fact the he gave himself an F as a senator, great inspiring confidence.
Paul Thissen: Who?
John Marty: Will Democrats say “been there done that?”
Not officially in:
R.T. Rybak: After Obama gave him the could shoulder he is definitely looking for something else.
Chris Coleman: No secret he has wanted to move up. I have talked with a few democrats lately that fully expect him to throw his hat in the ring. I have also heard grumblings that the far left is also upset regarding the RNC.
Steve Kelley: He of course needs something to do.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher: As if there are not enough big city liberals in the race.
Please comment on where you think the state of the race is right now, and who you think might be the front runner and whose candidacy might be DOA.

Entenza is the clear favorite in the DFL field for both the endorsement and the primary. Democrats are all about electability and Entenza is #1 with regards to that.

Let me clean the coffee off my screen before I respond. Are you talking about the same Matt Entenza we are here? The lying, conniving, womanizing, backstabbing, power hungry prick who’s married to a former United Health gazillionaire? You’re saying he’s #1 in electability? Did you perhaps forget to take some medications today?
February 18th, 2009 at 10:40 PM
Even Doug Peterson will out poll Entenza.
More interesting: Who will the republicans endorse when Timmy goes off to play in New Hampshire and Iowa?
February 18th, 2009 at 11:22 PM
Entenza is the Republicans wet dream candidate.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:05 AM
If this last election proved anything it is that money can buy elections. Voters approved a tax increase because there were a bunch of commercials saying it would make our lives so nice.
Entenza has the resources to buy this election. No candidate (Republican or Democrat) can match his wallet. That is more important than anything in this election.
Republicans want Dayton, not Entenza.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:06 AM
Ghost, your description of Entenza sounds a lot like Bill Clinton. (Except for the rich wife part – Hillary is by nature, trailer trash).
If Entenza is the dirtiest of the bunch, there’s a good chance he’ll rise to the top in the DFL.
DJZ, Entenza probably gives danbrome wet dreams as well.
February 19th, 2009 at 2:34 AM
Rumor has it that Matt Entenza is using his resources to try to find out if any other potential DFL candidates have traveled throught the I-94 Lowry Tunnel. This is adjacent to Loring Park, a well know gay cruising site.
February 19th, 2009 at 3:36 AM
Greg, is Entenza looking for a dude to hookup with or something more long term. Entenza does have those “I love little boys” eyes. (I believe danbrome is available since Ashwin dumped him.)
Which ones to you suppose are gay?
Dayton: He married the rich and ugly Rockefeller girl. Bow wow! http://www.ms.foundation.org/user-assets/Images/photo/endow_alidamessinger.jpg
Probably gay.
Chris Coleman: looks super gay.
Rybak: Can you say “Loppet Pride Parade”
Marty: I can’t even say if this guy is human.
Gaertner: She’s married to John Wodele and looks like Jeff Daniels. Yep, she’s gay.
Anderson-Kelliher: Could have swung that way, but probably never did.
Tom “Broke”-Bakk???
Thissen: He could be. Has he been ex-communicated from the church yet?

I love all the homophobia spewing from Quicksand this morning.
I do hope he can follow up on this post with some wholly inappropriate racist/sexist theories to help further cement his republican street cred.
February 19th, 2009 at 7:26 AM
Leroy,
I read quicksand’s post. Where is the homophobia? You appear to have a problem with it but all I see is specualtion on the sexual orientation of various DFL candidates.
You would appear to be the homophobe here Leroy (which seems a little strange all things considered…).
I would think you folks would be cheering at the thought of all these people being sodemites. It certainly looks like you think there is a problem with that Leroy.
February 19th, 2009 at 8:45 AM
Leroy the jackass says:
“I love all the homophobia spewing from Quicksand this morning.”
I’m not doubting your love for homophobia, but I’m also not seeing any. Phobia mean an irrational fear – is there even any “rational” fear in quicks post.
If you read above to Greg langs post, he saying that Entenza is looking to find out if any of his opponents are driving the wrong way.
I knew Mark Dayton was divorced, but didn’t know the little feller was married to a Rockefellar! Do you think the they registered for gifts at Donaldson’s.
That wedding probably cost more that Obama’s inauguration.
February 19th, 2009 at 9:24 AM
Ryan check your spelling before you post.
February 19th, 2009 at 10:03 AM
Pete-
You know who else was gay? Elton John. I hear sometimes when he was deciding who to go out with, he would roll Fordyce.
February 19th, 2009 at 10:22 AM
Leroy, you jackass,
What’s the difference between Princess Diana and Elton John?
Princess Diana never became a queen of England.
February 19th, 2009 at 10:27 AM
Quicksand..
danbrome is not available.
He has been happily married to his high school sweetheart for 26 years. Sorry to throw cold water on your fantasy.
Would you mind posting your mug shot here, so we can all evaluate YOUR appearance too?
February 19th, 2009 at 10:34 AM
Put Priscilla Lord Faris in the mix. She has shown that she is not afraid of a primary and with enough time and money, she will have an appeal. A multi-candidate primary can reward someone with a solid following like she had in the senate primary.
February 19th, 2009 at 10:37 AM
Leroy, Is Elton a friend of yours? Interesting response about the Queen in England but I see you failed once again to respond to my post.
Apparently you agree that a sodemite can also be a homophobe. Are you know claiming that Elton John is also a homophobe?
On the subject of Elton John. I saw him in concert in Atlanta at the time Yellow Brick Road came out. One of the best concerts I went to while I was serving our country at Fort Benning.
Didn’t he get married to a women around that time?
February 19th, 2009 at 10:37 AM
danbrome, What did Ashwin say when he found out you were married?
Did you and “Steve” go to the prom together? Would you mind posting your prom photos? Were you and “Steve” married in New Hampshire?
Speaking of mug shots, where’s Tommy?
February 19th, 2009 at 10:58 AM
chili..
Ashwin hugged my wife and expressed his gratitude for her tireless support of his campaign.
Who is this “Steve” you refer to?
February 19th, 2009 at 11:07 AM
danbrome, when Ashwin hugged your “wife” … did “Steve” say that he was “solid as a rock” or “just happy to see me?” (Maybe both?)
How many campaign signs did your “wife” steal on behalf of the Madia campaign?
February 19th, 2009 at 11:11 AM
Pete..
I saw Elton at the Met Sports Center in Bloomington back in 1973. It was his first concert ever in Minnesota, when his career was red hot with number one hits.
He did marry a woman for a short time, but the marriage ended within a year.
The last time I saw him was a few years back at the Excel Energy Center.. got lucky and grabbed a single ticket in row 2 on the day of the concert.
February 19th, 2009 at 11:16 AM
chili..
She didn’t steal any signs, although we did deliver a few hundred throughout the district.
She is a real trooper.. as we knocked on over 2000 doors together, spreading the word about Ashwin and President Obama.
February 19th, 2009 at 11:19 AM
danbrome, how many Barbra Streisand concerts have you been to?
February 19th, 2009 at 11:21 AM
27
February 19th, 2009 at 1:04 PM
Leroy, Tell me why you happen to mention your old friend Doug Peterson? Is it true that he actually is considering a run for Govenor?
If he is he needs to work on his people skills. Saw him a few days ago. A friend of mine said hi to him and in return he received a grunt. I guess a grunt is better than what normally comes out of Doug’s mouth but still – no people skills what-so-ever.
February 19th, 2009 at 1:46 PM
Not bad. A few days ago Leroy says he won’t respond to me again. Today he does. Then when I respond he goes back into hiding.
Man I must be one bad dude to scare that skirt away.
February 19th, 2009 at 2:59 PM
I’m upset that commenter number two used my moniker to comment. I’m the original Ghost of Matt Entenza — GoME.
February 19th, 2009 at 3:03 PM
My post #7 was intended to satirize Matt Entenzas “researcher” digging up the parking ticket on Mike Hatch at a supposed gay cruising spot.
Who doesn’t use I-94 and the Lowry Tunnel?
February 19th, 2009 at 3:29 PM
Yeah, I’ve been thru the tunnel 6,500 times since 1983, and didn’t notice any “cruising”.
February 19th, 2009 at 3:32 PM
I think I would of chosen my words more carefully danbrome. Sorry but I could not resist…
February 19th, 2009 at 3:34 PM
Elton-
Doug will likely run for governor. Bakk is the only rural candidate right now, and so may as well add a guy from farm country to the mix.
February 19th, 2009 at 4:25 PM
Scott,
Then you or somebody better sit Doug down and show him how to be decent to people. He has an ego that far exceeds his skills.
But on the bright side it will give me even more reason to get involved in the 2010 elections!
Pete
February 19th, 2009 at 4:35 PM
Funny thing is, I know who you are, and you have no idea who I am.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:04 PM
Funny thing is you are living a fantasy. Nice try but keep trying.
Like I said, my name is Pete. My mother would be surprised to hear that she has been calling me by the wrong name my entire life.
Try again.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:47 PM
O.k., Elton. Whatever you say.
February 19th, 2009 at 7:49 PM
If it makes you happy you can call me anything you want Leroy. But don’t start complaining when I call you Princess ok? Andrew won’t get jealous will he?
February 19th, 2009 at 7:50 PM
Does anyone think it is strange that Leroy Jenkins mentioned Doug Peterson? Hmmmmm?
February 19th, 2009 at 8:42 PM
Good point Buffalo. Why would anyone mention such an insignificant person? It makes you wonder doesn’t it.
But I’m sure he won’t respond because he promised not to respond to me anymore. Oh wait, he broke that promise. Typical liberal. Hi Princess!
February 20th, 2009 at 3:31 AM
danbrome,
“Yeah, I’ve been thru the tunnel 6,500 times since 1983, and didn’t notice any “cruisingâ€.”
danbrome sounds like the gay version of Wilt Chamberlain!
February 20th, 2009 at 10:40 AM
[...] also did a run-down of what the DFL field looks like right now, could it [...]
February 20th, 2009 at 9:16 PM
Tom Rukavina is my sentimental favorite.
February 21st, 2009 at 2:01 PM
entenza not gay – but (sadly) the womanizer part is totally correct.
