FIGURING OUT TIM WALZ

By Ryan Flynn | March 5, 2009

This is a must read LTE from the Rochester Post Bulletin today:

Walz Actions Belie Centrist Rhetoric

When I voted for Tim Walz in the last election I thought I was voting for one of those new Democrats. Maybe he was like one of those Blue Dog Democrats I’ve heard talked about. I usually vote Conservative. So when I saw that he had voted against TARP, and the fact that he was given an A rating from the NRA, I gave him my vote.

I found out two things too late:

1. A Blue Dog Democrat is really a Yellow Dog, that appears conservative when campaigning then turns into a typical tax-and-spend liberal when they get to Washington.

2. His vote against TARP didn’t really mean he was fiscally responsible, but partisan. His vote for the Porkulous Bill proved his true colors. I wonder if he filled out a questionnaire and answered ‘yes’ to everything asked by the NRA.

It really means he will stand up for the 2nd Amendment. Come to think of it, in an e-mail back from him, it stated that he is “pro-hunting,” which is not the same.

Shame on me. I will not be making the same mistake again.

Congressman Walz ran as a moderate centrist not tied in with the more liberal policies of the Democrat leadership in Washington.  As the writer rightfully points out, he has been anything but a moderate centrist.  The Congressman has become someone that Speaker Pelosi can rely on, and that is not good for his First District Constituents.

Walz must not be “one of us”.

danbrome, no Walz is one of “you.” A socialist who tries to pass him self of as a “moderate.”

Looks like Walz has perfected the DFL art of lying.

This is exactly what Walz learned to do when he attended Camp Wellstone 4 years ago. This “nonpartisan” organization trains DFLers running for office in the art of fooling voters into thinking that they are “moderate or conservatives” when they are far more liberal Democrat Super Partisans.

I’m so glad there are no conservative Republican Super Partisans to worry about.

As far as I know conservatives don’t have a supposedly non-partisan “camp” to fool voters into thinking they are moderate or liberal, Bromide.

Somehow I think the only reason this letter writer voted for Walz was because the GOP candidate was so incredibly weak. If we make the same mistake again, Walz will be in Congress for life.

  8. danbrome Says:

If I was Pete F, I would ask you to prove it.

I’m amazed that any politician would try to fool voters. Where did you hear that?

  9. chile Says:
    March 5th, 2009 at 1:39 PM

danbrome, what is there to prove? That Tim Walz is a liar?

When was the last time the DFL endorsed anyone who wasn’t a liar? For example, Ashwin Madia.

I’m just disappointed that it appears neither Walz nor Pawlenty is running for governor in 2010.

Walz would win that matchup 70-30.

  11. danbrome Says:
    March 5th, 2009 at 1:58 PM

That’s right chile, Ashwin Madia was endorsed, and was not even a liar. Perfect example!

  12. danbrome Says:
    March 5th, 2009 at 1:59 PM

I say Walz would win by 503 votes.

    danbrome …

MPR: 2000 election, of course, McCain wasn’t the nominee. Did you actually vote for Bush in 2000?

    Madia: No.

MPR: You didn’t? You voted for Al Gore?

    Madia: Yes.
    ###

    Madia: LIAR
    danbrome: LIAR
    DFL: Endorses LIARS

danbrome wants to be Pete F? I just knew he was in love with me! That is so gay.

  15. danbrome Says:

What do you mean when you say “That is so gay”?
    Be specific please.

bromo the homo: You’ve got a big ol’ man-crush on Pete F. – that is so gay.

You know one of my friends reminded me that Walz never claimed to be a Blue Dog Democrat. And that he supported gun rights in D.C. Whether we like it or not, he’s earned his NRA stripes — as opposed to his skeet shooting opponent whose only stance in favor of the Second Amendment was filling out an NRA questionnaire.

  18. Brian Says:
    March 6th, 2009 at 10:20 AM

Walz never was or claimed to be a Blue Dog.

  19. Kathy Says:
    March 7th, 2009 at 12:09 AM

Tim Walz beat Brian Davis buy 30 points. Davis was lucky to get 32% of the vote. All he had to run on was the GOP Talking Points he was trained to run on when he attended the NRCC Candidate School. “DRILL HERE! DRILL NOW!”

Tim has much support amongst Republicans here in the 1st Congressional District. Such a sacrilidge! That Republicans support Tim Walz. I know who those Republicans are, what they donated to his campaign, and they are safe with me.

Interesting comment Kathy. Are you saying that Walz bought the election? Did you accidently let the truth out? Please provide a source for your claim that Walz bought 30 points.
