DID MADOFF’S MILLIONS FUND ANTI-COLEMAN ATTACK ADS?
By Ryan Flynn | March 15, 2009
According to the Weekly Standard, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has taken some $100,000 from fraudster and Ponzi-schemer Bernie Madoff. The DSCC spent millions of dollars to air anti-Coleman ads in the waning hours of the 2008 Senate election.
It seems that Franken’s “chief purveyor of skullduggery,†aka Deputy Campaign Manager Eric Schultz, has no problems keeping the $100,000 Madoff stole from would-be investors and donated to the DSCC. Now with the DSCC, Eric Schultz told the Weekly Standard’s John McCormack that “We haven’t returned the money, and there are no immediate plans to do so.”
If Al had any semblance of a conscience, then he would call on the DSCC to put the money into a trust for the victims, some of whom lost everything.

It seems that this story confirm that Team Coleman is both creative and desperate.

Ryan.. you need to read more balanced opinions, instead of the Weekly Standard Republican orgy reviews.
My message to the rest of you, consider Ryan’s source.

Nice comeback danbrome, shoot the messenger!
My message to the rest of you, it it no surprise that tax cheating Al Franken would take donations from a criminal.
March 15th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
Ryan is deserate if he has to quote articles from the Weekly Standard to make his points.

Did our own homegrown Ponzi schemer Tom Petters DIRECTLY fund Norm Coleman’s 2008 campaign? The FEC says he did, to the tune of $2300, plus thousands more to his PAC and previous campaigns.

So yeah, Ryan, I think that’s a great idea to look at how much multibillion-dollar crooks have given to Norm. Got any more brilliant observations?
March 15th, 2009 at 9:36 pm
Let’s not forget Norm’s two pardon letters for Petters’ right-hand man, Frank Vennes Jr. You know, that nice Christian convicted money-launderer who steered all that good evangelical nonprofit money to Petters, where it went down the same rathole as the rest of Petters’ bilked billions. How’d that work out for Norm, Ryan? Is he writing a third pardon letter for his good buddy Frank?
March 16th, 2009 at 12:03 am
danbrome,
I’ve noticed that you continue to attack sources you disagree with (like Hannity, the Weekly Standard, the Wall Street Journal, etc.) even when their reporting is accurate. If you go to http://www.fec.gov, you can see for yourself that Madoff gave the DSCC $100,000. He also gave money to Jon Corzine, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, David Obey, Frank Lautenberg, Ed Markey and Charlie Rangel. It’s not hard to look these things up.
You know, danbrome, you keep claiming to be a moderate but there’s nothing moderate about the way you deny simple, provable facts. It’s really sad that you’ve become such a propagandist. Either that or you’re the ostrich with his head in the sand.
March 16th, 2009 at 12:15 am
Minny Dem. Let’s not forget that you are a dirty deceitful whore.
How about the money Petters gave directly to Oberstar, Bonoff or John Edwards?
Or what about Petters favorite DFL PAC – “Follow the North Star Fund”, whick gave $10,000 last year to Al “Tax Cheat” Franken.
FRANKEN, AL Senate Democrat Farm Labor MN — P $5,000 06/23/2008
FRANKEN, AL Senate Democrat Farm Labor MN — G $5,000 09/23/2008
This Petters PAC, gave hundreds of thousands of dollars exclusively to Democrats last year.
Besides Franken, in Minnesota, this Petters-Pac also gave money to Keith Mo Ellison, Jigar Ashwin Madia, Steve “SS” Sarvi, EL’ Tinklenberg, Tim “Driving While” Walz.
Finally, we all remember this post: http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/2008/09/12/mn-gop-press-release-republican-party-of-minnesota-calls-on-franken-to-return-tainted-cash-from-fellow-ny-tax-cheat-charlie-rangel/

danbrome says
“Ryan.. you need to read more balanced opinions, instead of the Weekly Standard Republican orgy reviews.”
Well danbrome, why don’t you give Ryan a complete list of soucres for “balanced opinions.” Do you condsider MPR balanced?
What you really want is to have state-run news media, where Obama can decided what is published and what is not.

If Al had a conscience… Hahhahahaahaaa. He’s an extremist liberal, these people don’t have a conscience.
March 16th, 2009 at 6:21 am
Nice try, Slowdirt. The so-called “point” of Ryan’s third-grade level post is that Franken has benefitted from Bernie Madoff’s ill-gotten gains, while ignoring the fact that his butt-buddy Norm is in up to his eyeballs with Ponzi schemers Tom Petters and Frank Vennes Jr. Why is Norm palling around with convicted money launderers and drug and gun peddlers like Vennes anyway? Why, he wrote not one but two letters recommending a pardon for his ex-con buddy Frank. I guess he fits right in with his money laundering pal Nasser Kazeminy. You can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep, can’t you, Slowdirt?
March 16th, 2009 at 6:24 am
So, to summarize, Al Franken accepted money from a national committee that received money from Bernie Madoff, and that national organization refused to return the money.
Norm Coleman received money from local Ponzi king Tom Petters, and also refused to return it.
This is classic Norm. Throw a bucket of mud, even if there is a good chance that 90 percent of it will splash back and land on you.
March 16th, 2009 at 8:57 am
This is classic Leroy: Two wrongs make a right.
Leroy attacks Coleman for throwing mud, which he never did.
Coleman should return Petter’s money, as Franken should return Petter’s money.
Franken/DNCC should return the Madoff money as should everyone who recieved Madoff contributions.
Franken should also me honest about his tax evasion.
Is Ritchie ever going to return the money he received from ACORN – a group known to be associated with voter fraud?
March 16th, 2009 at 10:13 am
“Chile”-
Two wrongs don’t make a right. Neither does pointing out a wrong that supports your cause while ignoring a much more egregious wrong that hurts it.
Al Franken has paid his taxes and penalties for his accountant’s mistakes in full. If you have evidence to the contrary, I encourage you to bring it. But since you are a former (and possibly future) treasurer for a failed house candidate, I would encourage you to re-read the mud tossing advice from earlier, and ask yourself if you really want to put your neck out there like that.
And, as for ACORN, I keep wondering if the republicans will be able to put forth one example of voter fraud perpetrated by the organization in this state, or if they intend to keep using it as a talking point with no basis.
March 16th, 2009 at 11:37 am
Leroy, you jackass, I’ve ignored nothing.
How about if Franken removes the gag order he placed on his accountant. What’s Angry Al afraid of, the truth?
ACORN: “I keep wondering if the republicans will be able to put forth one example of voter fraud perpetrated by the organization in this state” … Thank you for admitting that ACORN has been found guilty of voter fraud in other states.
ACORN is scum, no matter where what state their branch is located in. How many MN DFLers took money from this group during that last election? How many gave money to ACORN to promote voter fraud? Obama gave them $833,000.
Leroy, you are a lobbyist who supports child-molesters, tax-cheats, and voter fraud. You are scum.
March 16th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Chile,
I see that still struggle with reading comprehension so I’ll help you out. Leroy asked for an example of ACORN’s voter fraud in this state. That is all he asked. No reasonable person can jump to the conclusion that he admits ANYTHING about ACORN in any other state. Where does he admit they were found guilty of fraud in another state?
Please read, then think, then post next time.
March 16th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
AC, I see that YOU struggle with comprehension in general, so I’ll help you out.
This past election cycle, ACORN was investigate buy mulitple jurisdictions for voter fraud. ACORN was not charged within the state.
My initial reference to ACORN was regarding their endorsement of Mark Ritchie. Leroy, the jackass, defended ACORN only in Minnesota, ignoring the fact that the group has been convicted of voter fraud outside of Minnesota.
Is that clear now. In all 50 states, ACORN is scum, Ritchie is scum, Obama is sucm, Leroy-the- jackass is scum, and you are scum.
Good luck in struggling with that.
March 16th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I am stunned by AC’s arrogance by denial of ACORN fraud.
Let me remind you of some of ACORN’s violations from just 2008:
CT – The New York Post reported that ACORN submitted a voter registration card for a 7-year-old Bridgeport girl. Another 8,000 cards from the same city will be scrutinized for possible fraud.
FL – Election officials in Brevard County have given prosecutors more than 23 suspect registrations from ACORN. The state’s Division of Elections is also investigating complaints in Orange and Broward Counties.
IN – Election officials in Indiana have thrown out more than 4,000 ACORN-submitted voter registrations after finding they had identical handwriting and included the names of many deceased Indianans, and even the name of a fast food restaurant.
MI – Clerks in Detroit found a “sizeable number of duplicate and fraudulent [voter] applications” from the Michigan branch of ACORN. Those applications have been turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s office for investigation.
MO – Nearly 400 ACORN-submitted registrations in Kansas City have been rejected due to duplication or fake information.
NC – County elections officials have sent suspicious voter registration applications to the state Board of Elections. Many of the applications had similar or identical names, but with different addresses or dates of birth.
NM – Prosecutors are investigating more than 1,100 ACORN-submitted voter registration cards after a county clerk found them to be fraudulent. Many of the cards included duplicate names and slightly altered personal information.
NV – Nevada state authorities raided ACORN’s Las Vegas headquarters as part of a task force investigation of election fraud. Fraudulent registrations included players from the Dallas Cowboys.
OH – ACORN activists gave Ohio residents cash and cigarettes in exchange for filling out voter registration card, according to the New York Post. Some voters claim to have registered dozens of times, and one man says he signed up on 72 cards.
PA – State election officials have thrown out 57,435 voter registrations, the majority of which were submitted by ACORN. The registrations were thrown out after officials found “clearly fraudulent” signatures, vacant lots listed as addresses, and other signs of fraud.
PA – An ACORN employee in West Reading, PA, was sentenced to up to 23 months in prison for identity theft and tampering with records. A second ACORN worker pleaded not guilty to the same charges and is free on $10,000 bail.
TX – In Harris County, nearly 10,000 ACORN-submitted registrations were found to be invalid, including many with clearly fraudulent addresses or other personal information.
TX – ACORN turned in the voter registration form of David Young, who told reporters “The signature is not my signature. It’s not even close.†His social security number and date of birth were also incorrect.
WI – At least 33,000 ACORN-submitted registrations in Milwaukee have been called into question after it was found that the organizations had been using felons as registration workers, in violation of state election rules. Two people involved in the ongoing Wisconsin voter fraud investigation have been charged with felonies.

Karen-
I am interested in your post about ACORN. Could you please list your source so I can go to the web page to learn more?
March 16th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
So, I guess this is a NO, then. No one can provide any examples of how ACORN has committed any sort of crime, election or otherwise, in this state?
March 16th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Integrity,
Here is a list of some links to some of the ACORN fraud stories that I cited:

Leroy,
ACORN is rotten to the core. Just because they haven’t been prosecuted in Minnesota doesn’t mean that no fraud took place. There are many high placed officials that don’t want negative publicity about ACORN.
There was a case in Minnesota reported here: http://www.freedomdogs.com/news-archive-mainmenu-2/120-campaign-trail/3200-acorn-voter-fraud-investigation-comes-to-minnesota.html
There have been many reports about ACORN fraud. This link summarizes key points very well: http://keenobserver.blogtownhall.com/2009/01/08/acorn_sprouts_fraud_in_minnesota_recount.thtml
March 16th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Karen-
You again prove my point. NO cases of voter fraud have ever been substantiated in Minnesota.
Earlier when I attempted to suggest that Norm Coleman did not deserve the Senate seat because he was under investigation by the FBI for corruption, I was told by many of you that allegations are not convictions.
I hope that same advice will rule the day here, but for some reason, I imagine the wildly inconsistent republicans on this site will come up with some way to defend you. Either that or they will say I hate women for destroying your argument.
March 16th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Chile and Karen,
You are so filled with hate and rage that you didn’t even read what I (or Leroy) originally wrote. Leroy said one thing (elephants are gray) and Chile jumped to a conclusion (if elephants are gray, they must also be large!)
I have my doubts about ACORN, but that was not the point of my thread. Please try to grasp that before you so hastily respond.
Chile: In post #18, you agree with and prove exactly what Leroy said about ACORN – that they have not been charged in MN. And this is also what I pointed out to me. So third time is a charm and you still can’t even comprehend what you are even writing! Slow down, dude.
Karen, in post 19, you kind of disproved Chile’s point. He claims that somehow Leroy proved that ACORN has been found guilty of voter fraud in other states and Chile appears to agree. Yet all of your examples are talking about allegations, investigations, possible problems. I see no mention of any verdicts of guilt anywhere.
Again, let me be clear so you comprehend this. I don’t know enough about ACORN to say with 100% certainty what they have done – legal or otherwise. They are a complex organization with lots of allegations against them but not a lot of evidence – yet. All I am saying is that Chile jumped to a horrible conclusion based on a post by Leroy and you both failed to understand my follow-up.
March 16th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Everyone, please!
What Leroy and AC are trying to say, is that it is okay for Mark Ritchie to take money from ACORN because they haven’t yet been convicted of voter fraud in Minnesota. Even if they have been convicted in the other 49 states, they are innocent util proven guilty in Minnesota.
Leroy, AC? Isn’t that your point?
March 17th, 2009 at 6:06 am
Karen’s cut and paste list from the RNC contained all sorts of allegations, and a single conviction.
Using your logic, Norm Coleman is guilty of the corruption charges for which he is/was being investigated. The proof is in the fact that his old Senate fishing buddy, Ted Stevens, has been found guilty of corruption.
March 17th, 2009 at 7:30 am
DFLer’s have totally lost the ability to think and draw their own conclusions. They need an expensive legal proceeding and a jury of 12 other people to make conclusions for them …. even when the conclusions are obvious.
Guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is the very high standard to take away someone’s freedom. DFLer’s think that any action short of a conviction is ok.
I swear they could witness their kid getting beat by her boyfriend ….. and be happy she stayed with him because he wasn’t convicted.
But lets make no mistake. Even if ACORN was proven guilty as sin, they would still defend them as their illegal activities support the democrats.
I mean really, just how uninformed do you have to be to not know that ACORN commits voter fraud?
March 17th, 2009 at 8:03 am
Leroy-the-jackass says,
“So, I guess this is a NO, then. No one can provide any examples of how ACORN has committed any sort of crime, election or otherwise, in this state?”
Leroy, you jackass, no one said ACORN has been convicted in Minnesota … that is a non sequitur on your part.
Thanks to Karen for pointing out many links to ACORN and voter fraud. I think she left an important one out … http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/22/voter.fraud/
An ACORN employee was convicted of voter registration fraud and ACORN was fined $25,000.
Yet Ritchie/Franken gladly took ACORN endorsements last year.
ACORN/Ritchie/Franken/Leroy-the-jackass: Voter Fraud Scum
March 17th, 2009 at 8:29 am
I love how worked up republicans get over a bunch of voter REGISTRATION fraud. The problem is, no one can link this to actual voter fraud. Not one case exists of Mickey Mouse who lives at 123 Fake Street actually coming to the precinct and voting. The vast majority of ACORN workers are honestly out there signing up new voters. But you get a few who decide to forge documents rather than work, and suddenly it is an indictment on the organization rather than on the workers who are trying to steal from the organization.
March 17th, 2009 at 8:35 am
ohforcryingoutloud Leroy,
Is there ANY form of despicable human behavior that dflers won’t bend over WAY backwards (and make totally idiots out of themselves) to try and defend?
March 17th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
KIS, I can answer that one. No. If they did reject any form of despicable human behavior they would have to reject a good many of their voters.
March 31st, 2009 at 9:47 pm
Game over.
I hope Norman is asking his PR/Lawyer team to explain the media coverage in the morning. Note to the former senator: you will be laughed at even further if you keep this up. Minnesotans want a senator seated. As painful as that may be to you, you should concede after the ballots are opened April 7.
