Actually, senators have been quitting the senate to run for governor lately. Corzine in New Jersey, Kay Bailey Hutchison in Texas. And one of the things that has amazed me about the Obama administration is the desperation many senators have displayed to get out of the senate.

I should note that no one takes seriously the possibility that Franken might run for governor, and that a lot of people take seriously the possibility than Norm might run for governor isn’t to Franken’s credit or Norm’s discredit.

Senator-Elect Franken is not my buddy. He is a passionate Democrat who is in a position to make a real difference for Minnesota. For that I am grateful.

The “former Senator, two big city mayors” you refer to would be included under category A: Infamous Reptiles.

As far as Mark Dayton goes, he’d be better off if the voters forgot about his history in the Senate. He should focus on his strengths, i.e the fact that he is the silver-spoon heir of a department store mogul

Franken would be the most liberal and ignorant DFL candidate. Ingorant liberals like danbrome need someone they can identify with.

Your list features the riff-raff like ours and pretty much the only two notable names above that fray are Ramstad who would be tough to beat, and Bachmann who would get crushed by at least 60-40 if not worse.

Anderson is a statewide name for you but no one will know who she is anyway with such a low profile job and getting booted out of office.

Sorry, your list is not better and is probably a bit worse than the DFL’s, it’s mainly no-name state reps and senators who have zero statewide name rec. as of now. Any of them could be competitive but you are wrong in whose list is apparently better.

I would vote for Norm again before any of others.

Being minority leader in the senate is sort of like being a potted plant without the excitement. Where Sen. Senjem is concerned the question isn’t so much whether he will step down as it is whether anyone would notice if he did.

Marty Seifert stepping down as minority leader just to join the cattle call is funny, though.

Will Senjem be doing the same?
