REPUBLICAN PARTY OF MINNESOTA STATEMENT ON SENATOR COLEMAN’S REMARKS

By Ryan Flynn | June 30, 2009

St. Paul – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman-elect Tony Sutton today issued the following statement after Senator Norm Coleman made remarks at his home in St. Paul.

"Senator Coleman’s gracious remarks following a long and hard fought campaign are to be commended.   For over three decades, Norm Coleman has served Minnesotans with high distinction and honor as a prosecutor, mayor and United States senator.  Norm’s commitment to Minnesota will never waver.  He is a good man who has fought the good fight."

Former Senator Rod Grams (filling in for Jason Lewis) had a lot of nice things to say about Norm today.

Grams knows something about losing a bid for a second term. Grams pointed to Norm caving into the greenies and voting no on drilling in ANWAR – that earned him no votes from the left and cost him support on the right.

I too commend Norm Coleman for his service.

I have taken my shots, and like whack-a-mole at the fair, I will take more if he ever dares pop his head up again, but for the time being, he has been this state’s senator for the past six years, and for that, he deserves our gratitude.

Norm is a class act. And so are you Michael.

    God bless both of you!

Jesus, a love fest. Gracious? The Minnesota GOP via this site has never acted gracious. What about a congratulations to Minnesota’s newest senator? How much ya wanna net that Tony’s hand puppet Michael Brodkorb wrote this? The same douche bag that called our senator Al Franken “angry Al” for more than a year. The GOP is in a sickening state right now.

    I could not agree more.

    Thanks Norm!

I just hope and pray that Obamunism wipes out Minnesota first and most severly. Y’all deserve it! You elected a marxist clown and all the while you knew that’s exactly whom you were voting for. Enjoy the slide numbskulls.

  7. danbrome Says:
    June 30th, 2009 at 8:50 PM

Senator Franken did not look angry today, did he?

  8. chile Says:
    June 30th, 2009 at 9:07 PM

Liberal danbrome, Franken appeared to be quite relieved actually. His anger will reappear, it’s only matter of days.

Franken is a tax-cheat who also failed to cover his employees with work comp. He’s a porn writer who thinks rape is funny. He cheated a boys/girls club out of money and stiffed his employees at Air America.

Franken is a typical limousine liberal full of contempt for the United States of America, who has a total disregard for working Americans.

  9. Zelly Says:
    June 30th, 2009 at 9:30 PM

Wow, the “gracious” GOP is shining through. “Limosine Liberal” “Angry” “Cheated.”

Yeah, what a positive message. Keep it going “chile”. I could also go down the line with Norm’s personal issues but won’t. He’s a dog that is down, much like the the GOP and its elected governors.

  10. chile Says:
    June 30th, 2009 at 9:49 PM

Zelly, I now what a short memory you have so I’ll keep reminding you. What, you think because Franken was elected that now rape is funny and tax-cheating is legal?

Also, Franken moved his radio show from New York to Minneapolis in it’s last year only because he decided to run for Senate. He’s a fraud.

  11. Chestnut Says:
    June 30th, 2009 at 11:37 PM

“What about a congratulations to Minnesota’s newest senator?”

Fuck Al Franken. I hate that piece of shit, and everything he and his fascist friends stand for.

You’re so eloquent, chesty!!! Don’t change on my account.

  13. Chestnut Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 12:45 AM

You can count on it, kath.

Still, the Supreme Court made the correct decision today. Norm handled the recount stupidly. That the deck was stacked against him didn’t matter.

On the upside, I figure so long as our second senator isn’t going to represent a scintilla of my values or priorities — or Minnesota’s for that matter — it may as well be Franken… who never said he would in the first place.

Franken (D-NY) told me he’d be a fascist pile of shit. I trust him.

  14. Kathy Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 12:57 AM

Al just might surprise you, chesty!

    Good night to you.

  15. Hiram Says:

Yes, the Republicans would have been better off following Norm’s lead from the outset.

  16. danbrome Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 9:04 AM

chile and chestnut are sore losers, who think that we moderate Democrats will wilt under their absurd attacks and insults. Unfortunately, the election was fair and accurate, and the DFL candidate has won the Senate seat.

Congrats to Al franken for a superb effort, and many thanks to all the volunteers that made it possible.

  17. Focused on 2010 Says:

The election was anything but accurate. Most of the problems would not have been an issue if the margin had been greater but anyone who denies that there were many problems with the ballot counting is in denial.

Senator Coleman lost this election because of his own actions during the campaign. All he had to do was run a nice, fairly clean campaign and he would have walked all over the comedian. Instead he campaigned against the comedian as if he was a credible threat and in doing so gave the comedian credibility.

I have supported Norm Coleman since he became a Republican. I didn’t always agree wtih him but I strongly believe a weak Republican is better than a Democrat any day. If Republican’s would have come out in force Norm would have won but too many Republican’s will not support someone they do not agree with 100% of the time.

Until that changes we will fail. This must and will change for 2010.

  18. Hiram Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 10:59 AM

It’s pretty easy to second guess a losing campaign or a winning one for that matter, but who knows if any other strategy would have worked out better. Norm really didn’t want to campaign on the record of the Bush administration, I think it’s fair to say. And he didn’t have that much of a record of his own to campaign on. I don’t mean to slight Norm on this. The fact is, the senate as a whole over the last eight years hasn’t done enough to give any senator a good record, and that was as true for Norm as it was for Barack Obama.

Going negative is an effective strategy, but one that always has it’s risks. Al Franken did have a lot of liabilities, and I can’t say with any confidence at all that it would have been good politics to ignore them. My problem with both candidates is that neither one seemed to enjoy being candidates. Both came off as a couple of sourpusses. In future, let’s have a little fun out there guys.

  19. danbrome Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 11:26 AM

    Focused is right..

“too many Republican’s will not support someone they do not agree with 100% of the time.”

I suspect he was thinking about Chris at the time. Do ya think?

  20. Jane Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 2:48 PM

You people need jobs and lives. The election was flawed and the only answer was a revote! Norm is and always will be a class act. He will succeed in whatever he decides to do. Franken will reveal himself entirely as time goes on. His overall temperment will get in the way of all the challenges and hard, hard work it takes to be a true public servant! Bravo Norm! “Well done my good and faithful servant”!!

  21. Focused on 2010 Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 3:48 PM

You are wrong danbrome. I do not attack fellow conservatives. I merely point out the facts and hope to find a way for all Republicans to work together to accomplish a common goal.

The goal? Defeat Democrats. The party leadership needs to understand that and so does everyone else.

  22. chile Says:
    July 1st, 2009 at 11:37 PM

    Liberal danbrome: Wrong Again

  23. Chestnut Says:
    July 2nd, 2009 at 9:19 AM

According to danbrome, fascists are now “moderate democrats.” I wouldn’t hold such a narrow focus, danbrome — ALL DEMOCRATS ARE RANK FASCISTS.
