PIONEER PRESS: “TONY SUTTON: MINNESOTA GOP IS ALIVE AND RUNNING HARD AGAINST OVERREACHING DEMOCRATS”
By Ryan Flynn | July 8, 2009
“To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the Republican Party of Minnesota’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.
While the chattering class now pronounces the GOP dead, it’s worth remembering that we’ve been buried prematurely by the “experts” before. Following Lyndon Johnson’s landslide victory over Barry Goldwater in 1964, the GOP was declared dead. Following the election of Jimmy Carter in the Watergate aftermath of 1976, the GOP was declared dead. And again today, the GOP is declared dead as some even wonder if the party will go the way of the Whigs.
Yet as we move closer to the 2010 election, the political environment and issue set are unmistakably moving in the GOP’s direction. With President Barack Obama’s wasteful “stimulus” package failing and the state DFL unable to produce a balanced budget amid a slew of proposals for tax hikes, more and more Minnesotans will be attracted to candidates who champion lower taxes, limited government and fiscal conservatism. This is the right approach to create more sustainable, private-sector jobs.
There are hopeful signs all around for Minnesota Republicans.” Source: Pioneer Press, July 8, 2009.

Fat Tony has gotten it wrong again.
Its not Twain’s quote that’s applicable but former party Chair Bill Cooper’s words about Norm Coleman a few years ago:
“He’s dead and doesn’t even know it”

“Yet as we move closer to the 2010 election, the political environment and issue set are unmistakably moving in the GOP’s direction.”
Just what is the GOP’s direction? How are they different from democrats? They promise all the same things.
How about being really different, for a change, and tell the truth: There’s no such thing as a free lunch. The best person for solving most of your problems is you. The government will just louse up whatever they touch.
