“NON-PARTISAN” SECRETARY OF STATE ATTACKS MN GOP; RITCHIE MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT HIS “IN-THE-GUTTER-TYPE CAMPAIGN” FROM 2006

By Ryan Flynn | July 20, 2009

After MN GOP Chair Tony Sutton and Deputy Chair Michael Brodkorb unveiled a new ad campaign targeting “non-partisan” Secretary of State Mark Ritchie questionable leadership exhibited during the 2008 U.S. Senate re-count, Ritchie attacked the new MN GOP leadership in an interview with Minnesota Public  Radio.

“Ritchie wouldn’t respond to the specific allegations. But he said the ad is a bad signal about the tone of the 2010 campaign.

‘This sounds like the kickoff of somebody’s campaign to run against me. And it sounds like the intention is to make it a dirty, negative, in-the-gutter type campaign. And I’ll just do everything in my power to keep that campaign next year positive,’ Ritchie said.” Source: MPR, July 16, 2009

Click here for the complete story

While the MN GOP’s new ad was issue based, Ritchie should know all about “dirty, negative” and “in-the-gutter type” campaigns as these were the tactics used by Ritchie and the DFL in 2006 against Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer.  To help refresh everyone’s memory, please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed later this week for examples of Ritche’s “in-the-gutter type campaign” from 2006.

    Ryan-

If Mark Ritchie’s campaign was so awful in 2006, why do we have to wait for you to post examples later this week? If it was such an “in-the-gutter type campaign” then shouldn’t you and everyone else be able to remember and cite examples without having to spend days searching?

Ritchie has a right to defend himself. However, please focus as much energy on this new ad and on the Walz story. Encourage Sutton and his sidekick MBB to focus on these stories like a laser-beam. These are the pressing issues that Minnesotans want to hear about from the GOP. Plus it gives the Democrats something to laugh about. Thanks guys!

    Integrity, allow me to help.

    http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/2008/11/12/who-is-mark-ritchie-a-complete-background/

MDE does have a search engine feature. Did you know that then? Just type Mark Ritchie into the little search box and shazam! You get the results.

If this takes you “days”, then I suggest you have an adult help you.

A warning to conservative commenters on Startribune.com:

They are starting to censor conservative commenters with this as their excuse:

The StarTribune.com terms of use regarding online conduct are designed to ensure that the site remains a forum for the free and open exchange of ideas in a climate of mutual respect. Any action by a user that infringes on another user’s right to use and enjoy StarTribune.com is considered a violation of those terms.

In other words, if you post comments that a liberal complains about you have violated their terms and will be turned off.

I don’t post spam, I don’t use foul language, but I do not play softball with my comments. Nevertheless, Startribune.com editors have turned off my IP address for doing nothing more than posting conservative opinions.

Yet in their own words they desire “free and open exchange”.

    They lie.

If you’re a conservative who posts comments on Startribune.com your days are numbered. You have been warned.

  4. chile Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 2:17 PM

So their going to monitor comments 24/7 to appease the liberals? No wonder they’re bankrupt.

For years the Strib has written with a bias that superserves a base of people who don’t read the paper.

For years, Joel Kramer made sure the news was reported with a liberal bias. Susan Albright and Jim Boyd made sure the editorial pages had the DFL seal of approval. Ombudsman Lou Gelfand was a true-blue liberal who became increasingly partisan on order to save his job.

As subscriber numbers went down, the price went up, and the paper became thinner. As the Strib continues to promote liberal ideoligies, they drive themselves further towards extinction.

  5. Average_Joe Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 2:34 PM

It’s sickening, really, especially with their bogus non-sense about wanting a “free and open” exchange. Bull.

  6. AC Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 3:04 PM

Chile, are you suggesting that the Strib’s declining # of subscribers is due to the papers apparent liberal viewpoint. If so, that is one of the stupidest things I’ve heard. The entire printed newspaper industry is dying. It oesn’t matter if the paper has a liberal or a conservative “bent.” People just aren’t consuming media like they used to.

  7. Hiram Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 3:16 PM

I think it’s perfectly possible to make one’s arguments without being unduly critical of or showing a lack of respect to others. In any event the Star Tribune’s website belongs to the Star Tribune just as this website belongs to MDE or whomever. They have total discretion over what postings they retain, refuse or delete.

  8. Integrity Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 3:39 PM

    chile-

If there is so much dirt out there why did Ryan say,

“…please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed later this week for examples of Ritche’s “in-the-gutter type campaign” from 2006.”

I don’t get it? Are you saying that Ryan doesn’t know how to use his own website?

I choose not to use the search feature to look up important “news stories” as you can rarely find good journalism here.

  9. chile Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 3:51 PM

Integrity, Ryan isn’t an idiot like you, of course he knows how to use the MDE seach engine.

“…please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed later this week for examples of Ritche’s “in-the-gutter type campaign” from 2006.”

In the news business, they call that a tease.

I’m looking forward to a best of Ritche’s “in-the-gutter type campaign” from 2006

If you want more of an early preview Integrity, I suggest you have an adult help you for look for it using the MDE search engine.

  10. Average_Joe Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 7:07 PM

If so, that is one of the stupidest things I’ve heard.

No, the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard was “I’ll only raise taxes on those earning (fill in the moving target number) and “95% of you will get a tax cut” (still haven’t seen that yet).

  11. chile Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 7:22 PM

AC, The Pioneer Press is struggling, but their doing much better that the Red Star. Long before either paper faced competition from the Internet, people were cancelling the lib Strib and subscribing to the PP.

Present day: The lib Strib still superserves people who don’t follow the news, online or in print.

  12. Focused on 2010 Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 7:31 PM

I subscribe to the Sunday Red Star to get the coupons and the ads. They called me 4 weeks ago about subscibing the rest of the week and gave me a deal that I could not see turning down.

I have not received one Monday-Saturday paper. I’ve called several times. Just another nail in their liberal coffin.

No problems to report on the Sunday delivery.

  15. danbrome Says:
    July 20th, 2009 at 11:05 PM

regarding post #1, I could not agree more.

Thank you Integrity for being such a dedicated cheerleader for the bankrupt GOP strategy!

  16. chile Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 1:21 AM

Liberal danbrome, please point to one thing in the ad that isn’t true.

  17. danbrome Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 10:32 AM

    chile..

When will the GOP learn that just repeating garbage accusations does not make them true?

    sheeesh

  18. danbrome Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 10:41 AM

By the way, danbrome find any suggestion that it was Mark Ritchie who went on the attack as patently absurd.

Check the Republican Party of Minnesota “headlines” here on MDE.

Who attacked who? I guess that’s pretty obvious.

  19. job10 Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 10:46 AM

danbrome, since mustang09 proved you wrong on Walz – I guess you are the real “pompous blowhard” now.

Mustang09 – thank you for your service and I have bookmarked your blog – god bless you!!

  20. AC Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 10:54 AM

    AverageJoe,

I guess I agree with you in #9. I’ve NEVER believed that or similar lines of “tax cut” BS whenever I’ve heard it from anyone – republican or democrat.

  21. Integrity Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 10:57 AM

The issue isn’t weather the ad is true or not chile. I just think that it’s important for Sutton and MBB to focus all of their time, energy, and most importantly, MONEY on this highly effective ad.

I am not saying that I think the ad is true, just pointing out that weather it is true or not isn’t the issue.

  22. Integrity Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 10:59 AM

    Change “weather” to “whether” above…

  23. chile Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 12:33 PM

“Liberal danbrome, please point to one thing in the ad that isn’t true”

It’s time to back up your mouth, nancy-boy

Even Integrity concedes she can’t refute the facts!

  24. Integrity Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 1:56 PM

I conceded nothing. I said whether the ad was true or not wasn’t the issue I was discussing. Just because you say it doesn’t make it true.

Also, how did you find out I was a woman?

  25. Focused on 2010 Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 3:08 PM

We have ways Integrity. Your friends have big mouths.

  27. danbrome Says:

Next thing is they will think I’m a Liberal!

  28. Focused on 2010 Says:

Boy does danbrome have a big mouth.

  29. chile Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 7:35 PM

Liberal danbrome says: “he he he”

    Stutter much?

He what, nancy-boy? “He is cute”, “He dumped me”,
He has a nice ass”, “He asked me out”?

The liberals at MDE have now had four days to refute the facts stated in the Ritchie ad. They haven’t because they can’t. The only thing they’ve offered is the partisan opinion that the ad is not a good GOP strategy.

  30. danbrome Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 11:32 PM

    chile..

No, I was chuckling at your contention that Integrity is female.

How can one person be so uninformed?

  31. danbrome Says:
    July 21st, 2009 at 11:39 PM

    Integrity..

Thanks for the kind words earlier today. The check is in the mail (just kidding!).

  32. AC Says:
    July 22nd, 2009 at 9:18 AM

Again with an assumption that anyone with an opposing viewpoint on this blog MUST be female. What are you trying to say? Can you all be any more sexist?

  33. chile Says:
    July 22nd, 2009 at 10:18 AM

AC, you women really stick together, don’t ya’.

  34. Focused on 2010 Says:
    July 22nd, 2009 at 11:05 AM

Why do the posters who are referred to as “she” or “woman” feel that the ones calling them that are somehow putting them down? Why is calling someone “she” anymore sexist then calling someone “he”? They’ve never complained about being called “he”.

I’ve noticed that the leftist’s here take offense to being referred to as a woman.

Why are you so offended? Do you feel woman are inferior? You must see it as a negative since you take such offense to it.

  35. Integrity Says:
    July 22nd, 2009 at 12:32 PM

    Nice insight Pete…hahahaha

  36. AC Says:
    July 22nd, 2009 at 1:03 PM

    Pete (focused),

Nice try at redirection, but I don’t think anyone refers to anyone as male or “he.” And when the female/she label is used, it is typically used in an insulting way.

I take offense to being labeled anything that I am not. It jsut happens to be female in this case because for some reason you all think that is an insult I guess.

  37. Integrity Says:

As we all know danbrome is not man enough to respond to mustang09.

    mustang09 has proven his honor.

danbrome has proven his lack of honor. danbrome is a disgrace.

  42. danbrome Says:
    July 24th, 2009 at 12:48 PM

I agree that mustang09 has proven his honor if he served his country.

That does not mean that his story about Congressman Walz constitutes fact.

Get a clue.. any story from a partisan Republican apologist must be confirmed through independent sources before it can be deemed factual.

I guess that’s the rub, and why you should all apologize to Congressman Walz for your witch hunt.

  43. Focused on 2010 Says:
    July 24th, 2009 at 10:05 PM

You have been given the opportunity to confirm what mustang09 said but you have chosen to remain ignorant danbrome. I don’t understand close minded people like you, why don’t you want to understand the truth? Is it because it will prove that you have been wrong all this time?

You are just like Obama danbrome, neither of you can admit when you have made a mistake. Do you think the police are stupid too?

    LOL

Why does he refuse to send the info?

I know why.. it’s because his charges are baseless, and frankly stupid.

On the count of three danbrome, 1..2…3!!

danbrome was given a way to provide the MAN his contact information but the BOY refuses to do it. No surprise there I guess.
