RESPONSE FROM JOE BODELL ABOUT PROBLEMS AT DFL HQ
By Aaron Cocking | August 25, 2009
Below is the response from Joe Bodell to the letter I sent him regarding the problems at DFL HQ.Â
Aaron,
1.) I received reports from sources that there was the possibility of an upcoming FEC fine. Turns out there was simply nothing to it — according to official statements from party officials, there is no FEC investigation currently underway or fine pending.
2.) I’ll have to respectfully decline on the first part of this question, since it would violate the confidentiality of my sources. However, nothing changed about “my position.” My position was and remains that all political parties need to be as open and transparent as legally possible, especially when it comes to money issues. With regard to the reports of a pending FEC fine, facts which refuted the previously published reports were brought to the fore. My opinion on the matter had nothing to do with it.
3. No.
I appreciate you contacting me directly — please feel free to do so in the future. I would also appreciate it (if you decide to publish my answers to your questions) if you would publish them in their entirety to ensure their full context is provided.
Thanks,
Joe Bodell

What made Bodell bite on “the possiblity of an upcoming FEC fine” from unnamed sources? It’s typical MPP to jump on rumors started by unreliable sources, the the DFL’s strategically worded denial is harldy convining. Time will tell if Bodell pulled this out of his ass, or if he is now covering for the DFL.
Let’s not forget that his original post also included accusations that UDF members are behind in their dues leaving the organization with not enough money to pay their bills.
