AFL-CIO MN BLOCKS MN GOP STAFFER FROM DFL CANDIDATE FORUM
By Luke Hellier | October 1, 2009
Minnesota Democrats Exposed is getting information that this morning, during an AFL-CIO Candidate Forum, a union official banned a GOP Staffer from attending the discussion
Information on the event:
As Michael Brodkorb noted via Twitter, was the staffer banned from the event to hear that both Mayors Rybak and Coleman were candidates for governor?
UPDATE: The MN GOP just release video of the incident.
UPDATE #2: MPR was allowed into the event. DFL Candidates backed major tax increases during today’s forum. A forum, which included Mayors Rybak and Coleman. Here is the story.

Was the MN GOP staff member in question a dues-paying member of the MN AFL-CIO? If not, then they have no reasonable expectation of being allowed entrance to this event. The AFL-CIO has every right to approve/reject attendance.
Now, if you are going to complain about this, I hope you were complaining jsut as loudly when Norm Coleman held a press conference in his back yard and then refused access to credentialed journalists that he simply did not like.

The AFL_CIO website pic is unreadable. Here is a link if you want to read it. http://tinyurl.com/y9aou9d

AC has a point that a private group holding a forum can control admission to the event. That said, when you invite the media, it does lift the veil of privacy and the staffer should have been allowed in. This is typical of union thuggery.
Where’s Hiram on this issue? I suppose he’ll say that Coleman and Rybak were there for the free coffee and donuts.

I have a feeling the “free coffee and donuts” are will still end up on the expense account of Coleman’s mayoral campaign.
