It is shameful and disgusting to compare the uninsured to the Holocaust. Where is the ADL on this issue? Keith Ellison is a clown, the sad thing is that he will be re-elected by a strong majority in his district. What a black eye for our state.

While the word does have it’s connotations, if you watch the video, what Grayson was referring to was “this holocaust in America”.
A lot of the rhetoric concerning health care isn’t to my taste. But if we can talk about death panels to be created by the Obamacare, surely we can talk about the looming holocaust we might very well be facing without it.

So ‘hector’, if we are really to have a ‘holocaust in America’ without Obamacare, then please tell me why this won’t go into effect until 2013? Why wait 4 years, by gosh, let’s get it in now!

Hiram,
There is no doubt that health care will be rationed by the government if Obamacare is passed. The question will be how health care will be rationed. If it’s rationed like every other country in the western world, then a bureaucrat will decide who gets what treatment and when.
Let’s do a little comparison to our neighbor to the north:
Canada has a 16% higher death rate from cancer overall.
Canadian cancer patients face an eight week wait for radiation therapy.
The best medications for chemotherapy are not available in Canada because the Canadian government will not pay for them.
The death rate from heart disease is 6% higher in Canada than in the U.S.
In Canada, the mortality rate for colon cancer is 42% versus 31% in the U.S.
If you don’t want to use the term death panels, fine. But look no further than the VA’s end of life book for a peek at Obamacare.

Hiram, how said it is that you would brush off the holocaust “rhetoric”
And if you noticed, the topic of this post is Congressman Ellison defense of those comments, and theat Grayson “hit the nail on the head.”
Keep in mind, that Ellison, once wrote several anti-semitic essays under the pen name “Keith E. Hakim.”

“How sad it is that you would brush off the holocaust “rhetoricâ€?”
I think it’s sad too, that people feel the need to fight rhetorical fire with rhetorical fire. If given a choice, I would like to dial the rhetoric down quite a bit on all sides, but that isn’t a choice given to me.
I did notice that the topic of the posting was Ellison’s endorsement of Grayson’s rhetoric generally which included Grayson’s comment about dying quickly. Chris in comment #1 zeroed in on the holocaust rhetoric, but presumably that was in the scope of Ellison’s endorsement too.
I have to tell you, like you it seems, I am concerned about what I see as the rising level o anti-semitism in this country. But whatever his problems in the past, that’s not a problem I detect in Ellison now.

Ellison is not exactly my favorite person, and maybe to some small and even negligible extent, I am not exactly his. I voted for someone else in the primary for the open seat. I think in a way, he is Michele Bachmann’s fraternal twin, as Minnesota’s other extreme Congressman. But both are extremely passionate, both are people of faith, and I think both do a pretty good job of representing their districts. I think in each case as controversial as either of them might be, their constituents could do worse.
