If you think 20% of the national electorate is Republican, then why does the latest Gallup poll have Republicans leading Democrats in the generic Congressional ballot by a margin of 48 to 44%? I guess Jon Corzine was also re-elected in New Jersey along with the Democrat in Virginia too!

My husband attended the announcement here in Rochester as an observer. There were 4 Quist supporters present and NO PRESS!

With 20% of the National Electorate proclaiming to be Republican, it will be interesting how such a small number will be able to recapture the Majorities in the US House and Senate.

We will have to see just how far right Allen Quist is. I know his wife is closely linked to Michele Bachmann’s campaign for re-election, and that Quist’s views are similar to Bachmann’s when it comes to Government.

With the insane rhetoric that has been coming from Michele Bachmann since 2007 and Quist’s ties to her, Moderate Republicans and Independents might be less likely to support such a candidate.

The problem with the Quist candidacy isn’t strictly a candidate recruitment problem. The problem is that the delegates will be excited to endorse someone like Quist over an experienced, electable legislator like Julie Rosen. It’s the same problem Dick Day had when the delegates went for Brian Davis who lost to Walz by a margin of 66% to 34%.

I think the Quist candidacy is evidence that the DFL is not the only party having troubles with candidate recruitment.

The right candidate would certainly have a shot against Walz who is far more liberal than the First District. Brian Davis wasn’t the right candidate last time and I’m afraid Allen Quist, who was recruited by Davis, isn’t the right candidate either. Quist has come out with some good substance but has the reputation, fair or not, of being radical in some of his views.

Great news! I’d like to see Dick Day run as well. With Walz’s voting record in favor of socialism, either candidate would smoke him.

Will Alan make his announcement at his farm? How far is that from the farm Big Mak drove to from Minneapolis to make her announcement, pretending to suddenly be concerned about rural issues.
