DFL FAILS AT CANDIDATE RECRUITMENT
By Luke Hellier | November 18, 2009
Dr. Maureen Hackett announced on her website yesterday that she will be challenging Rep. Erik Paulsen in Minnesota’s Third Congressional District. Also, Jim Meffert has decided to enter the race for endorsement against Paulsen.
In Minnesota’s Second Congressional District, Dan Powers has announced his candidacy against Rep. John Kline.  Powers, if you remember is a supporter of socialized medicine.
These three candidates fall into the category I like to call Major Recruiting Fail. While no one believes Kline is vulnerable, its clear the Democrats aren’t even interested in trying to make it a race. In the Third Congressional District, Democrats want Terri Bonoff, but seem to have drafted two third tier candidates.
Furthermore, none of these candidates fall into the category as electable moderates. Each is a member of the Democratic Party’s extreme left wing. Their politics will not fit into these Republican leaning districts.
