ANGRY AL FRANKEN HAS RETURNED
By Luke Hellier | December 2, 2009
Senator Al Franken has a long history of having an explosive amount of anger. According to a report by Politico, Angry Al made a recent come back during a conversation with Senator Bob Corker.
Here’s the except from the story:
“In a chamber where relationship-building is seen as critical, some GOP senators question whether Franken’s handling of the amendment could damage his ability to work across the aisle. Soon after Tennessee GOP Sens. Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander co-wrote an op-ed in a local newspaper defending their votes against the Franken measure, the Minnesota Democrat confronted each senator separately to dispute their column — and grew particularly angry in a tense exchange with Corker.
People familiar with the Corker exchange say it was heated and ended abruptly — a sharp departure from the norm on the usually clubby Senate floor.” (Source Politico 12/1/09)
This isn’t the first time Senator Angry Al made an appearance. In early August, the same temper exploded at T. Boone Pickens. Politico also had that exchange:
“Sen. Al Franken managed to make time for the lunch — but then let Pickens have it afterward.
According to a source, the wealthy oil and gas magnate and author of “The First Billion Is the Hardest†stepped up to introduce himself to Franken in a room just off the Senate Floor after the lunch ended Franken, who was seated talking to someone else, did not stand when Pickens said hello. Instead, Franken began to berate him about the billionaire’s financing of the Swift Boat ads in 2004.
According to a source, the confrontation grew heated….
Pickens was on the Hill to address the Senate Democratic Policy Committee lunch about his plans to use wind energy to lower the nation’s dependence on oil and gas. But the thought of Pickens being invited to a Democratic event angered some on the Hill and in the liberal blogs.” (Source Politico 8/1/09)
It seems like Senator Angry Al doesn’t know when he is on his Air America Talk Show or when he should be a Senator who excises comity.
