Rep. Keith Downey Named to Co-Chair the House Small Business Caucus
ST. PAUL—State Representative Keith Downey (District 41A, Edina) has been named a co-chair of the bipartisan Minnesota House of Representatives Small Business Caucus. The group of legislators from around the state has convened to improve the state’s overall environment for small businesses and entrepreneurial growth.
“This is an important time for the state to re-think its policies toward small business. I appreciate the opportunity to help lead and collaborate with a diverse group of lawmakers and business owners,†said Downey. The representative said that he will encourage the caucus to avoid short-term thinking and identify policy changes that will enable Minnesota’s small business and startup community to thrive for the long haul.
“Small businesses are key to our economic recovery and future growth. We have to listen to them,†said Downey. “If we have the right focus and translate their feedback into policy changes that simply level the playing field, they will take it from there.â€
