NEW MNGOP AD BLASTS WALZ’S VOTE FOR GOV’T RUN HEALTH CARE
By Luke Hellier | December 2, 2009
St. Paul- On the same day the non-partisan Cook Political Report (subscription required) downgraded the reelection prospects of DFL Rep. Tim Walz, Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Tony Sutton announced that the Party would begin running radio advertisements in the First Congressional District about Walz’s votes for a government run health care scheme that cuts Medicare, raises taxes and mandates coverage for abortion on demand.
“Tim Walz is a rubber stamp for the failed policies of national liberals like Nancy Pelosi. Whether he’s supporting job-killing cap and tax legislation or backing an irresponsible budget bill, Walz has demonstrated he’s out of touch with southern Minnesota by toeing the liberal line on issue after issue,†said Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Tony Sutton.
“Our new ad highlights Walz’s recent vote for a trillion dollar government takeover of the health care system which cuts Medicare, raises taxes and explodes the deficit. Even worse, Walz thinks taxpayers should subsidize abortion on demand. In 2010, Southern Minnesotans will remember Walz’s betrayal by voting him out of office,†Sutton concluded.
The new radio advertisement will begin running in southern Minnesota today and will continue to air into next week.

Yeah! Tim Walz is out of touch all right!
He has spent a great deal of time meeting with Small Businesses in the 1st CD over the past year, asking them what is their biggest budget worry. Health Care Costs!
Tim’s vote was siding with Small businesses and with people who have no Health Insurance.

When I hear “Government takeover of the Health Care System” and “Socialized Medicine”, those Republicans in Congress espousing these slogans are being DISHONEST. What in the hell do they have for Health Care? Government run/Taxpayer funded Health Insurance! Are they first in line to give it up! Hell no!!
The Health Care plan in Canada also has Private insurance options as well. In England, those in the Medical field are Government Employees.
That will not be happening in this country! Having a Public Option to purchase Health Insurance from a Government sponsored Plan, similar to Tri-Care or Medicare, will give the uninsured options for coverage. Thus competition to the Monopolistic Health Insurance Companies.
All this talk about “GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRATS getting in the way of Doctors and their patients†is also DISHONEST. It is the Health Insurance bureaucrats who are the ones who are in the way as to what they will and will not cover.
Health Insurance bureaucrats are the ones who get in the way of doctors and their patients by dropping people due to illness and pre-existing conditions, or overcharging them because of it.
Reforming Health Care in this country will mean reigning in and stopping the abuses of the Health Insurance Companies. Their time of anti-trust protection will be coming to an end.

LadyK,
Tim’s vote was to cut Medicare by $400 billion. It wasn’t to help small business either, but to raise their taxes. And it wasn’t to help the 85% of Americans who have health insurance because the non-partisan CBO says the bill will cost the average family with health insurance another $1500 a year. It will also impose strict fines and even jail time if you refuse to buy the mandated government insurance plan.
I love how you also demonize insurance companies. Study after study has shown you’re twice as likely to have your claim denied by government run health care programs like Medicare than by private insurance. If you don’t think bureaucrats are going to get in the way of medicine, then you’re not paying attention to the Obama administration’s proposal to recommend delaying mammograms from age 40 to age 50. Countries with government run health care, like Canada have higher cancer death rates than the U.S. In fact, Canada’s overall cancer death rate is 16% higher than the U.S. and the colon cancer death rate in Canada is 42% versus 31% in the U.S.
So much for Walz being a good friend of the people on health care.

Lady K:
You have the position correct me if I’m wrong.
That government should pay for my health care. That government should pay for my mortage. That government should pay for my food. That government should pay for my transportation. That government should pay for my education.
That government should pay for my utilities.
So what exactly isn’t government responsible for?
Furthermore if you divide the federal budget into equal shares for each person the government can only afford $13,333 per person. I’m pretty sure that doesn’t give the funds to perform those things.
So since you’re so sure that this work keep $13,333 for yourself and send a check to the government for the rest.

So if the only health care company in the United States of America becomes the United States health care company how is that going to be magically run. Sixty Minutes did a story a couple of weeks ago about how healthy people who didn’t know about it were having medicare claims made.
A capped rate on drugs will basically stop the creation of new drugs since their will be no real incentive to create drugs. One reason why countries like Canada can get away with charging (at least they charge some countries make genic drugs and don’t care about the copyright) the lower rates compared with the United States is because to the drug companies that is an additional profit to their US drug profit. Take away that profit.
Lady K. Keep in mind that private health plan you point out that Canadan has created was in response to the horrible and inefficient service that the Canadian health care plan does. Canada is so good at running health care that it’s own health care service has to approve some of their patients going to the United States for treatment.
Where are we suppose to go to once the US healthcare system is run into the ground?

Lady K:
You want a real reform to medical costs. Reform malpractice laws!
This year my doctor ordered me to the hospital from the clinic in an ambulance. He didn’t give me a choice even though I had been healthy enough to drive to the clinic. Why? Because if something bad happened if I drove to the hospital he feared he would’ve been sued.
He ordered two very costly tests because he thought I was bleeding to death inside because of low iron levels. Even though I had pointed that my diet might be the cause and maybe I should be taking an iron supplement. After the two tests showed that I wasn’t bleeding to death he finally figured out that it might be a good idea if I was taking an iron supplement.
With the exception of the copays these were picked up by the insurance company. Multiple stuff like this by millions of people you can quite easily see billions of dollars per year that can go to real care are being diverted to
care not needed because the doctor is being afraid of being sued.
CBO estitmated that if we had enacted tort reform it will save $100 billion in government cost over ten years. And unlike the health care bill which has been gimmicked to claim budget savings these savings will grow. And since there is private sector insurance for right now they will save money automatically also.
So are your claims for wanting to cut costs real since Tim Walz refuses to support real tort reform you should no longer want to support Tim Walz.
