“HOW CONNECTED IS COLLIN PETERSON TO THE 7TH DISTRICT? #2
By Luke Hellier | December 17, 2009
Yesterday, I posted a piece about how Collin Peterson routinely has fundraising checks sent to his campaign office in Washington DC. Which is strange considering it’s no where near Minnesota’s 7th District.
This all comes after Peterson challenged members of the media and the NRCC on how much everyone really knows about CD7. When it comes down to it, how much does Peterson really know?
I did some more digging around and found some more interesting facts about how connected disconnected Rep. Peterson is to the 7th District. The first is from a Star Tribune story from 2009 that talks about how several members of congress had reported employing members of their family as campaign staffers.
Interestingly enough, Rep. Peterson’s son is on the payroll but he lives closer to the 7th District of Tennessee than the 7th District of Minnesota. Read the information below:
PETERSON’S SON EARNS SALARY FOR MANAGING CAMPAIGN. “Among them was Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., whose campaign paid his son Elliott Peterson more than $125,000 in salary over the 2002, 2004 and 2006 elections, according to CREW.” (Kevin Diaz, “Keeping campaign funds (almost) all in the family,” Star Tribune, May 13, 2009)
