RYBAK STILL A POOR EXAMPLE, SKIPS SEATBELT

By Luke Hellier | December 19, 2009

Last week, Mayor RT Rybak was on his campaign for Governor kick off across Minnesota.  During part of his Southern Minnesota leg the Mayor was interviewed by DFL Blogger Sally Jo Sorenson.  During the interview, it’s clear that the Mayor isn’t wearing a seat belt.  If you remember Governor Pawlenty signed a primary seat belt law earlier this year.  According to the Minnesota Daily the new law:

requires all passengers — regardless of age or seating position — to wear a seat belt. Violators will face a $25 fine.

How does Mayor Rybak expect to be a good example for the citizens of Minnesota if he doesn’t even do something so simple as wearing a seat belt?

MDE readers will recall that Mayor Rybak was cited earlier last year for driving with a suspended license.  The video from Sally Jo’s website is below.

Is the violation only $25. I know someone who got a ticket and it cost about $100.

Seat belt fines are more than $100

    http://www.ci.mpls.mn.us/news/20091202DWIEnforcement.asp

“The primary seat belt law became effective in June 2009. Drivers and passengers in any seat, even in the back, must be belted or in the correct child restraint. Law enforcement will stop and ticket motorists and passengers for belt violations. Seatbelt fines are more than $100.”

All unbelted motorists 15 years of age or older will receive a citation by law enforcement if not properly buckled in now in MN. The MN Department of Public Safety (DPS) notes that the total cost for a seat belt citation is about $110.The driver though can also be charged an additional $25 citation fee for each unbelted occupant under the age of 15.If there are a lot of unbuckled young passengers in the car this type of citation could add up to be quite a bit of money for the driver.

“From what we have read the base fine for a seat belt infraction in Minnesota is the $25 that the officer stated to you but then there is $10 that goes toward the state’s law library and several other miscellaneous fees that drive the cost of the seat belt ticket up over $100, to about $110.”

Here’s a perfect example of the liberal mentality. He ignores a law because he feels that he’s above yet. Yet he and other liberals don’t understand that a business trying to avoid Minnesota’s killer taxes or regulations have to move out of the state since they don’t have the luxory of taking off the seatbelt and working in Minnesota.

What a scofflaw. In the video he is on HW 169 passing the Cambria factory, just north of La Sueur. RT should turn himself into the MN State Patrol and pay his ticket, if he has any integrity at all.

I know it`s impossible, because he`s a Liberal, but maybe he just thought, “the hell with it- nobody should tell me if i have to wear a seat belt or not.”

Have you confirmed that this car has a shoulder belt? What’s the make model and year?

    Ed

You have confirmed that you are an idiot. You are on your way to dethroning liberal danbrome as the biggest dumbass to post on MDE.

I must be spot on if chile is calling me the biggest dumbass to post here.

It’s good to know my efforts are appreciated.

Ed – I am “astonished by your ability to rely on laziness” rather than do a simple Google search –

“Since 1989, NHTSA has required that all rear-window-side seats in new passenger vehicles be equipped with lap/shoulder belts.”

I really doubt the mayor of Minneapolis is driving around the state in a 20+ year old Chevy or Ford.

    danbrome – congratulations to you!

It takes a true dumbass to be happy about being the biggest dumbass in Minnesota.

BTW – how are your chickens doing these days? Running scared?

[...] Rybak continues his crusade to Minnesota voters to do as I do, and not as I say.  Over the weekend I posted a video of Rybak not wearing a seatbelt during an interview with a DFL blogger.  This was a follow up to a story of [...]
