MARTY’S FAR-LEFT RECORD
Marty Proposed Extreme Restrictions On Law Abiding Gun Owners. “Sen. John Marty, a DFL candidate for governor, proposed gun-control measures Tuesday that include licensing all gun owners and registering all firearms. ‘I believe it’s time to tackle gun violence head on,’ the Roseville legislator said. ‘As governor, I’m not afraid to take on the NRA [National Rifle Association], Charlton Heston and all,’ he said, referring to the newly elected NRA president. Marty’s proposal would: Require all current owners of firearms and those seeking firearms to obtain licenses to possess them. Require registration of the firearms so they could be tracked from owner to owner.â€Â (Robert Whereatt, “Marty proposes expanded gun-control laws,†Star Tribune, June 17, 1998)
Marty Endorsed Far-Left Dennis Kucinich For President. “One of Kucinich’s most prominent Minnesota backers, State Sen. John Marty, DFL-Roseville, told the crowd: ‘There are a lot of similarities between Paul Wellstone and Dennis Kucinich. A lot of cynics said Dennis Kucinich is an also-ran. A lot said that about Paul Wellstone in 1990.’†(Bob Von Sternberg, “Kucinich brings message to town,†Star Tribune, October 15, 2003)
Marty Backed Department Of Peace. “Supporters of Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s presidential campaign were strongly represented in the convention hall and they got about 10 minutes on center stage. State Sen. John Marty of Roseville said he and other Kucinich supporters will be ready to join Kerry when it counts, but they will keep pressing Kucinich’s signature issue of creating a U.S. Department of Peace. ‘It’s time for us to speak out,” Marty said. “It’s time for us to work for peace. It’s time for us to support the peace platform.’â€Â (Brian Bakst, “DFLers revel in fight-free state convention,†Associated Press, May 22, 2004)

Is peace not a Republican value?

Ed, Why are you so stupid? Is peace not a Democratic value?
Kucinich reintroduced the bill in February of this year to a House controlled by Democrats and they didn’t approve it.
