GOV. PAWLENTY WILL VETO DFL DEBT BILL
By Luke Hellier | February 22, 2010
The debate is about to start on the House floor over the DFL Debt Bill. While it is important that a bonding bill be passed tonight’s bill is a bloated version of what should be on the table.
The budget forecast calls for a $725 million bonding bill. That’s all we can afford. The Governor’s bill was at $685 million. There was ample opportunity for all sides to work out a compromise but the DFL leadership ignored those requests.
Now tonight you will hear that this bonding bill is a “jobs” bill, it’s nothing more than a debt that we can’t afford.
The Governor has said he will veto the bill and hopefully the DFL will be willing to come to the table and compromise on a bonding bill we can afford.
The Governor’s letter to legislative leaders is here. This was first posted on BringMeTheNews.Com.
