DFL PASSES DEBT BILL

Today, House DFLers again passed the $1 billion bonding bill. Governor Pawlenty has signaled that he will sign the bill while using his ability to line item veto some parts.
As written on MDE before here, here, and here this bonding bill is quite bloated and well outside the guidelines of an affordable solution.
The Star Tribune has the story:
The Minnesota Legislature on Thursday passed a $1 billion package of public works projects, touting them as necessary to maintain and expand state buildings and parks and to create jobs in a time of high unemployment.
House members voted 89-44 for the bill, brushing aside objections to its cost and priorities. The Senate passed it 49-17, and Republicans later balked that they didn’t have time to discuss it before passage, a claim DFLers disputed.
