AMERICAN MAJORITY BECOMING POLITICAL FORCE IN MINNESOTA
By Luke Hellier | June 2, 2010
As reported on MDE before, American Majority is quietly making a huge impact on elections in Minnesota. Liberals have Camp Wellstone and American Majority is their conservative rival.
American Majority’s mission is to train and help elect conservative candidates for office.
According to their website “American Majority serves candidates and activists in a variety of ways. At the core of its services are the American Majority Political Training Programs. These training programs are designed to bring the expertise and knowledge-base of national politicos, campaign strategists, communication consultants, and seasoned organizers directly into your community.”
Their trainings are divided into four sections. Candidate Training, Activist Training, Campus Majority, and the Fellowship Program. Their goal is to lower the barrier of entry into politics and allow ordinary Americans an opportunity to make a real change in their community.
American Spectator magazine did a story on American Majority in 2009:
a number of conservative grassroots organizations, almost completely divorced from Washington/New York direction, were mobilizing in the far-flung towns and cyberspace wikis of this great nation. Candidate recruitment and training, media and Internet entrepreneurial efforts, intellectual stimulation and policy innovation, all are getting jolts of energy and talent from new organizations.
Even better, many of those organizations were well positioned to build directly on the Tea Party momentum while working to create the next generation of conservative political infrastructure.
Indeed, one such organization, American Majority, almost immediately posted a new website called, yes, AfterTheTeaParty.com. “Run for local office,” says one sub-link at the site. “Be an activist,” says another. “Support Freedom!” says a third. American Majority’s main objective is to recruit and train candidates for local and state offices such as town councils, school boards, county commissions, and state legislators—or, if people just don’t want to run for office, to at least train them to be effective activists.
Yesterday was the deadline for candidates to file for election in Minnesota and of the 200 some conservative candidates, 37 have been trained by American Majority.
Their office hopes to expand that number at their training seminar on June 26.
As the year goes on, expect many more candidates to learn the model and become more effective campaigners for the conservative cause.
Check back to MDE for more on American Majority as the election goes on.

Luke, could you cite some examples to back up your “huge impact” statement?
